Three-dimensional imaging reconstruction algorithm of gated-viewing laser imaging with compressive sensing

Three-dimensional (3D) laser imaging combining compressive sensing (CS) has an advantage in lower power consumption and less imaging sensors;however, it brings enormous stress to subsequent calculation devices. In this paper we proposed a fast 3D imaging reconstruction algorithm to deal with time-slice images sampled by single-pixel detectors. The algorithm implements 3D imaging reconstruction before CS recovery, thus it saves plenty of runtime of CS recovery. Several experiments are conducted to verify the performance of the algorithm. Simulation results demonstrated that the proposed algorithm has better performance in terms of efficiency compared to an existing algorithm. (C) 2014 Optical Society of America

PAINTER: a spatiospectral image reconstruction algorithm for optical interferometry

Astronomical optical interferometers sample the Fourier transform of the intensity distribution of a source at the observation wavelength. Because of rapid perturbations caused by atmospheric turbulence, the phases of the complex Fourier samples (visibilities) cannot be directly exploited. Consequently, specific image reconstruction methods have been devised in the last few decades. Modern polychromatic optical interferometric instruments are now paving the way to multiwavelength imaging. This paper is devoted to the derivation of a spatiospectral (3D) image reconstruction algorithm, coined Polychromatic opticAl INTErferometric reconstruction software (PAINTER). The algorithm relies on an iterative process, which alternates estimation of polychromatic images and complex visibilities. The complex visibilities are not only estimated from squared moduli and closure phases, but also differential phases, which helps to better constrain the polychromatic reconstruction. Simulations on synthetic data illustrate the efficiency of the algorithm and, in particular, the relevance of injecting a differential phases model in the reconstruction. Measuring and reconstruction algorithm based on improved second-order generalised integrator configured as a quadrature signal generator and phase locked loop for the three-phase AC signals of independent power generation systems

In an independent power generation system, the amplitude and frequency of the power generation voltage are easily affected by the fluctuation of the external load and harmonic pollution. The power quality may also be reduced by relatively imprecise measurements. In this regard, a measuring and reconstruction algorithm based on an improved second-order generalised integrator configured as a quadrature signal generator (SOGI-QSG) and phase locked loop (PLL) for three-phase alternating current signals has been proposed in this study. The amplitudes and direct current components of the measured signals are obtained from three SOGI-QSGs. The inverse function of sine is introduced to optimise the phase error that has been used to quickly acquire fundamental frequency and phase of the measured signals. Moreover, the phase sequence of the measured signals is determined by the sign function. Compared with a traditional dual second order generalised integrator PLL, quick responses and reconstruction performances of the proposed algorithm are validated by experiments.

The radiation therapy is most important treatment technique in the field of the oncology. With the improved radiation therapy technologies such as proton image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), the accuracy of the patient alignment system has been emphasized. The purpose of this study was to validate the possibility of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) reconstruction algorithm using X-ray and 3-D proton IGRT by acquiring images sequentially with continuous 360 gantry rotation. To confirm the feasibility of CBCT reconstruction algorithm, we acquired the reconstruction images of the proton IGRT for a mouse and ball phantom, respectively. According to the results, we demonstrated the feasibility of reconstruction algorithm for the proton IGRT. In conclusion, this reconstruction algorithm can help the determination of a treatment target and will be used a main patient alignment system for the proton IGRT. In the future work we need to compare the 180 projection view using X-ray imaging system of the proton therapy with other efficient projection views. (C) 2016 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

A complex image reconstruction algorithm for real-time measurement of transient field

Optical CT is now expanding into reconstruction from few views or limited-view range projection considering the economy and practicality. To solve the conflict of velocity and precision, which are two main aims that image reconstruction algorithm pursued, an innovative complex image reconstruction algorithm for real-time measurement of transient field is proposed. This method reconstructs computerized tomography (CT) image firstly by frequency spectrum approach reconstruction technique (FSART) and then by modified simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique (MSART) and can give a fast and precise reconstruction to complicated transient field. An iterative position reconstruction algorithm for radioactive particle techniques

The Computer Automated Radioactive Particle Tracking (CARPT) technique is widely used to monitor the motion of the flow inside a reactor. Usually a single radioactive particle that is neutrally buoyant with respect to the phase is used as a tracker. The particle moves inside the volume of interest and its positions are determined by an array of scintillation detectors counting incoming photons. Well-known reconstruction algorithms have been traditionally used to map measured counts into the particle position coordinates by solving a minimisation problem between measured events and calibration data. However, these algorithms have serious drawbacks. Their accuracy is determined by resolution of a calibration grid, which results in low accuracy measurements in cases where the measurement interval is short. The article presents an original algorithm for reconstruction of the trace position. The reconstruction procedure calculates iteratively the trace position of the specified calibration data. The results of the simulations based on the MCNP5 package showed that compared with results obtained using the classical approach, the accuracy of the reconstruction position is increased by 46% for low noise counts and 38% for high noise counts. The technique can successfully be applied to monitor the motion of a radioactive tracer in a reactor. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A reconstruction algorithm for thermoacoustic tomography with compensation for acoustic speed heterogeneity

An inverse reconstruction algorithm for thermoacoustic tomography ( TAT) is proposed with the compensation for the acoustic speed heterogeneity. Not requiring the prior knowledge of the acoustic speed distribution like most other algorithms, this algorithm utilizes the correlation information between thermoacoustic signals to compensate for the acoustic heterogeneity. The absorbed energy density is reconstructed on the basis of a corrected time-domain formula. Computer simulations are carried out to validate the algorithm. It is shown that the algorithm has a good precision within the acoustic speed variation of 10%, strong robustness to random data noises and good computational efficiency compared to other model-based methods. Therefore, the algorithm may be used in TAT of biological soft tissues, in which the acoustic speed variation is normally within 10%.

A new reconstruction algorithm based on temporal neural network and its application in power quality disturbance data

The traditional reconstruction algorithms based on p-norm, limited by their reconstruction model and data processing mode, are prone to reconstruction failure or long reconstruction time. In order to break through the limitations, this paper proposes a reconstruction algorithm based on the temporal neural network (TCN). A new reconstruction model based on TCN is first established, which does not need sparse representation and has large-scale parallel processing. Next, a TCN with a fully connected layer and symmetrical zero-padding operation is designed to meet the reconstruction requirements, including non-causality and length-inconsistency. Moreover, the proposed algorithm is constructed and applied to power quality disturbance (PQD) data. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can implement the reconstruction task, demonstrating better reconstruction accuracy and less reconstruction time than OMP, ROMP, CoSaMP, and SP. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is more attractive when dictionary design is complicated, or real-time reconstruction is required.

The image reconstruction algorithm plays an important role in electrical capacitance tomography systems. The linear back-projection method is simple and fast, but the reconstructed image is blurred, A method based on revised regularization is introduced in this paper. The preliminary experimental results show the method to have advantages as regards the quality of the reconstruction image and the reconstruction rate.

We have developed an efficient and robust image reconstruction algorithm for static impedance imaging using Hachtel's augmented matrix method. This improved Newton-Raphson method produced more accurate images by reducing the undesirable effects of the ill-conditioned Hessian matrix. We demonstrated that our electrical impedance tomography (EIT) system could produce two-dimensional static images from a physical phantom with 7 percent spatial resolution at the center and 5 percent at the periphery. Static EIT image reconstruction requires a large amount of computation. In order to overcome the limitations on reducing the computation time by algorithmic approaches, we implemented the improved Newton-Raphson algorithm on a parallel computer system and showed that the parallel computation could reduce the computation time from hours to minutes.
