In this study, a method is presented to construct column weight 3 (CW3) low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes using three-partite graphs. Let G(b) be a bipartite graph and N-g be the set of all minimum length cycles in G(b). Using G(b) and N-g, a three-partite graph denoted G(G(b), N-g), or simply G(t), is formed. Let T be the set of length 3 cycles in G(t) and T-a be the set of three element subsets of vertices in G(t) such that each of these subsets form a subgraph with no edges in G(t) and has precisely one element in each section of G(t). Furthermore, let H be the binary matrix in which the set of rows represent the set of vertices of G(t), the columns represent the elements of V:= T T-a, and h(ij) = 1 if and only if the ith vertex of G(t) belongs to the jth three element set in V. Then H is a CW3 binary matrix. Using the Tanner graph representing H, a recursive construction for CW3 LDPC codes is provided. Applying a simple restriction on T and T-a, codes free of length 4 cycles are generated. Euclidean and finite geometry codes are used as the base codes for generating new CW3 LDPC codes. Results are presented which show that these new codes perform well in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with the iterative sum-product decoding algorithm.

Suppose Alice gambles with God who is the dealer. There are n total rounds in the game and God can choose any in rounds to win and the other n - m rounds to lose. At first Alice has holdings a. In each round, Alice can increase her holdings by q times the amount she wagers if she wins. So what strategy should Alice take to ensure the maximum total holdings in the end? And how much is the total final holdings? It is called the "Gambling with God" problem. In this model, the system consists of a square grid of side n ( containing of n(2) components) such that the system fails if and only if there is at least one square of side r which includes among them at least two failed components. For i.i. d. case an algorithm is given for computing the reliability of circular system. The reliability function can be expressed by the number of 0-1 matrices having no two or more 0s at any square of side r.

Propagation of the Stress Wave Through the Filled Joint with Linear Viscoelastic Deformation Behavior Using Time-Domain recursive method

The dynamic behavior of filled joints is mostly controlled by the filled medium. In addition to nonlinear elastic behavior, viscoelastic behavior of filled joints is also of great significance. Here, a theoretical study of stress wave propagation through a filled rock joint with linear viscoelastic deformation behavior has been carried out using a modified time-domain recursive method (TDRM). A displacement discontinuity model was extended to form a displacement and stress discontinuity model, and the differential constitutive relationship of viscoelastic model was adopted to introduce the mass and viscoelastic behavior of filled medium. A standard linear solid model, which can be degenerated into the Kelvin and Maxwell models, was adopted in deriving this method. Transmission and reflection coefficients were adopted to verify this method. Besides, the effects of some parameters on wave propagation across a filled rock joint with linear viscoelastic deformation behavior were discussed. Then, a comparison of the time-history curves calculated by the present method with those by frequency-domain method (FDM) was performed. The results indicated that change tendencies of the transmission and reflection coefficients for these viscoelastic models versus incident angle were the same as each other but not frequency. The mass and viscosity coupling of filled medium did not fundamentally change wave propagation. The modified TDRM was found to be more efficient than the FDM.

The study of SH-wave across fractures can help uncover and improve the understanding of seismic wave propagation across geological media with fractures. Considering the viscoelastic behavior of a filled medium, a time-domain recursive method of SH-wave propagation through filled viscoelastic fractures was established. A displacement and stress discontinuous model and a differential constitutive relationship of the viscoelastic model were adopted to describe viscoelastic deformation behavior and mass of filled medium in fractures. Three viscoelastic models were utilized to analyze the effects of different viscoelastic models on wave propagation. The effects of frequency, incident angle, specific stiffness, and specific viscosity on the transmission and reflection coefficients and energy dissipation rate were discussed. Also, the influence of fracture slip behavior and the effects of filling mass on wave propagation were also addressed and the results indicated that the method established here was effective for investigating the propagation of SH-wave across viscoelastic filled fractures. Viscosity coupling might have caused a phase delay when the wave stress reached the shear strength and the filling mass had a subtle influence on SH-wave propagation through filled fractures with a thinner interlayer.

This paper studies a single removable server in a G/M/l queueing system with finite capacity operating under the N policy. We provide a recursive method. using the supplementary variable technique and treating the supplementary variable as the remaining interarrival time, to develop the steady-state probability distributions of the number of customers in the system, The method is illustrated analytically for exponential interarrival time distribution. Numerical results for various system performance measures are presented for four different interarrival time distributions such as exponential, 2-stage hyperexponential, 4-stage Erlang, and deterministic, (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. This paper deals with the optimal control of a finite capacity G/M/1 queueing system combined the F-policy and an exponential startup time before start allowing customers in the system. The F-policy queueing problem investigates the most common issue of controlling arrival to a queueing system. We provide a recursive method, using the supplementary variable technique and treating the supplementary variable as the remaining interarrival time, to develop the steady-state probability distribution of the number of customers in the system. We illustrate a recursive method by presenting three simple examples for exponential, 3-stage Erlang, and deterministic interarrival time distributions, respectively. A cost model is developed to determine the optimal management F-policy at minimum cost. We use an efficient Maple computer program to determine the optimal operating F-policy and some system performance measures. Sensitivity analysis is also studied. (c) 2007 Elsevier Inc. Pulse-order recursive method for inverse covariance matrix computation applied to space-time adaptive processing

The conventional space-time adaptive processing(STAP) method such as the typical sample matrix inversion(SMI)-based STAP method is difficult to implement for a practical system because intense computational complexity arises in calculating the inversion of a space-time covariance matrix *** to the block Hermitian matrix property of space-time covariance matrix,a new pulse-order recursive method is proposed in this paper to calculate the inverse covariance matrix for the STAP adaptive weight,which can reduce the computational complexity *** proposed method requires initially calculating the inverse covariance matrix of the first pulse-order recursively based on the block Hermitian matrix *** the following,the inversion of space-time covariance matrix is obtained recursively based on the previous pulse-order inverse covariance ***,the STAP adaptive weight is calculated based on the inversion space-time covariance matrix previously *** with the conventional SMI-based STAP algorithms,the computational complexity of the proposed method is reduced to more than 50% for the same clutter suppression *** method can be applied to practical systems benefiting from small computational complexity and stable clutter suppression performance.
