The integration of geospatial software components has recently received considerable attention due to the need for rapid growth of GIS application and development environments. However, finding appropriate source code components that can be incorporated into a system under development requires considerable verification to ensure the source code can work correctly. This paper therefore describes the design of a repository system that employs a new specification language, namely SpecJ2, to address the challenges involved in integrating and operating software components. SpecJ2 was designed to represent the architectural attributes of source code components and to abstract their complexity by applying the notion of separation of concerns, a key consideration when designing software systems. The results of the experiment showed that SpecJ2 is capable of defining the different architectural attributes of source code components and can facilitate their integration and interaction at run-time. Thus, SpecJ2 can classify software components according to their identified types.

Seismic response of canisters embedded in a repository analyzed through centrifuge modeling

High-level waste (HLW), one of the most poisonous materials known to science, includes spent fuel from nuclear power plants. Therefore, nuclear engineers seek to isolate HLW from the Earth's biosphere by using multibarrier systems, including engineered and natural barriers deep below the surface of the earth. Typically, disposal holes are drilled into intact rocks. Canisters and buffer materials are then placed in the drilled holes. These highly stable canisters should not be easily affected by the natural environment, human activities, and tectonic movement. However, Taiwan is located in the Ring of Fire of the Pacific Ocean;thus, earthquakes threaten Taiwan frequently. Consequently, scholarly investigations must expand knowledge regarding the effects of earthquake-induced vibration on the canisters and buffer materials placed in the drilled holes and on the disposal system. This study assumes that the relevant disposal holes are created in granite deposit layers and have no deformations and cracks. The methods and geometry of the KBS-3 V system were examined;in this study a physical apparatus one-tenth the size of the KBS-3 V system was designed. The one-tenth-scale physical apparatus was subjected to an artificial acceleration field of 10 g as a simulation of the in-situ stress between the canisters and buffer material. The physical model was positioned on a shaking table and subjected to simulated seismic events. During shaking, sensors measured the acceleration, pore water pressure, and total pressure values to determine the interactive behavior between canisters and buffer materials during seismic activity. Six models were developed with different initial water content and hydration conditions;these models simulated the state of the buffer material after construction, after underground water invasion of the disposal hole, and after saturation of the buffer material. The current paper marks the early stage of the PhD thesis of the first author of the paper. The thesis includes partial creation of an educational repository system, which should become a highly flexible portal that gives access to variety of educational resources. The simulation of the development of the repository system is the main topic of this paper. The human resources needed for the successful end of the project are centric for the simulation which can be quite useful not only for developers of similar systems but for a broader circle of specialists working in the sphere of software development. This is assured by the creation of the several control panels which gives the possibility for changing of the values of the key input parameters of the simulation very easily. The paper starts with a brief overview of the Software Process Simulation (SPS) and a comparison between the different available simulation models. After that a chapter follows which describes the usage of the simulation. At the end, possibilities for future development and results from the simulation will be given.

A language contains complex history and knowledge of human kinds. Hence, we have to conserve the language in order to conserve the history and knowledge of our ancestors to the next generation. Currently, there are a lot of local languages that are endangered due to the extensive use of national language in daily practices. This could make us losing of historical and knowledge richness from our local ancestors. One way to conserve the local language is by learning and making research on that language. However, current approaches for learning and making research on local language is hard and time-consuming, due to the limitation of domain experts. Current method to learn and research on local language is based on offline media, e.g., books, that have limitation on access and distribution. To solve these problems, we proposed a language repository system based on semantic web technology. We created LangIT, a language intelligent repository system to facilitate the users to learn and conduct research on a local language. LangIT is developed by using semantic web technology to enable a faster, easier, and more efficient data access compared to the traditional approach. We used Sundanese language as case for our system. Major result shows that LangIT is very useful for learning and researching Indonesian local language and extendable for other purposes on using the local languages. © 2011 IEEE.

Language resources are valuable assets, both for institutions and researchers. To safeguard these resources requirements for repository systems and data management have been specified by various branch organizations, e.g., CLARIN and the Data Seal of Approval. This paper describes these and some additional ones posed by the authors' home institutions. And it shows how they are met by FLAT, to provide a new home for language resources. The basis of FLAT is formed by the Fedora Commons repository system. This repository system can meet many of the requirements out-of-the box, but still additional configuration and some development work is needed to meet the remaining ones, e.g., to add support for Handles and Component Metadata. This paper describes design decisions taken in the construction of FLAT's system architecture via a mix-and-match strategy, with a preference for the reuse of existing solutions. FLAT is developed and used by the a Institute and The Language Archive, but is also freely available for anyone in need of a CLARIN-compliant repository for their language resources.

Demand of today's globalized business world is to join different kind of data & communication sources and cross-border collaborations have led to work with distributed environments across multiple organizational and geographical boundaries. The new requirements of portability, configurability and interoperability of distributed device networks put forward new challenges and security risks to the system's design and implementation. There are critical demands on highly secured collaborative control environments and security enhancing mechanisms for distributed device control, configuration, monitoring, and interoperation. This paper addresses the collaborative control issues of distributed device networks with entity authentication. The security challenges of authenticity, integrity, confidentiality, and execution safety are considered as primary design constraints. By adopting policy-based network security technologies, a technique of passing secret key is designed in this paper to provide high authenticity in distributed network, more over modules of Secure Device Control Gateway and Security Agent are modified into regular distributed device control networks to provide security and safety enhancing mechanisms. The main architectures, applied mechanisms, and implementation considerations are presented in detail in this paper.

Component-based development (CBD) techniques have been widely used to enhance the productivity and reduce the cost for software systems development. However, applying CBD techniques to embedded software development faces additional challenges. For embedded systems, it is crucial to consider the QoS attributes, such as timeliness, memory requirement, output precision, power consumption, etc. When a system is composed of components, the appropriate components have to be selected such that the composed system is guaranteed to satisfy its QoS requirements. In this paper, we investigate the model for composition analysis. Based on the analysis model, we develop algorithms for selecting components to compose the designated system such that the overall system QoS properties can be Pareto optimal. An overview of a repository-based embedded software development methodology was first presented Then we discuss the composition analysis techniques. A case study is presented to illustrate our approach finally.
