High Capacity reversible data hiding Algorithm in encrypted images Based on Image Adaptive MSB Prediction and Secret Sharing

Until now,some reversible data hiding in encrypted images(RDH-EI)schemes based on secret sharing(SIS-RDHEI)still have the problems of not realizing diffusivity and high embedding ***,this paper innovatively proposes a high capacity RDH-EI scheme that combines adaptive most significant bit(MSB)prediction with secret sharing ***,adaptive MSB prediction is performed on the original image and cryptographic feedback secret sharing strategy encrypts the spliced pixels to spare embedding *** the data hiding phase,each encrypted image is sent to a data hider to embed the secret information *** r copies of the image carrying the secret text are collected,the original image can be recovered lossless and the secret information can be *** evaluation shows that the proposed method in this paper has the diffusivity,reversibility,and *** last but the most important,it has higher embedding *** 512 ×512 grayscale images,the average embedding rate reaches 4.7358 bits per pixel(bpp).Compared to the average embedding rate that can be achieved by the Wang et al.'s SIS-RDHEI scheme,the proposed scheme with(2,2),(2,3),(2,4),(3,4),and(3,5)-threshold can increase by 0.7358 bpp,2.0658 bpp,2.7358 bpp,0.7358 bpp,and 1.5358 bpp,respectively.

With the development of data security and privacy requirements in the field of cloud computing, reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) in encryption domain has received increasing attention. In order to take full advantage of the spatial and textural features of the original image, reversible data hiding in encrypted image with adaptive Huffman code based on Dynamic Prediction Axes (RDHEI-HDA) is proposed. First, the prediction errors of the original plaintext image are calculated according to the multidirectional median edge detector (M-MED) combined with the Dynamic Prediction Axes which are generated by the spatial correlation of the original image. After encryption process with the stream cipher, the adaptive Huffman coding labeling rule is created for pixel labeling and classification according to the Dynamic Prediction Axes and the distribution of prediction errors. Finally, bit substitution is employed to insert secret data and side information into the image. In Comparison to most of the state-of-the-art RDHEI methods, the experimental results show that the RDHEI-HDA method provides a higher pure payload while ensuring safety.

Aiming at the problems that the security of traditional data hiding algorithms is difficult to be guaranteed and the existing algorithms' embedded volume is restricted under quantum operation attacks, a reversible data hiding algorithm in encrypted images based on Classic McEliece cryptosystem is proposed. The image pixels are first decomposed into bit planes to generate a data stream, and then encrypted in groups using the Classic McEliece cipher algorithm. In the encryption process, the fault tolerance mechanism in its encryption algorithm is utilized to select the appropriate modulation noise composition and the mapping relationship between the secret data, and the error pattern is modulated into noise to interfere with the encryption process, so as to realize the embedding of the secret data. Finally, the marked encrypted image is obtained by using the exclusive-or encryption and scrambling encryption processes. The experimental results show that the algorithm has the reversibility of carrier recovery. Compared with the existing algorithms, this algorithm's embedded volume is advantageous, and its highest embedding rate is 4.43548 bpp, which realizes large-capacity data hiding while improving security. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDH-EI) method that achieves the highest hiding capacity in the RDH-EI research field and full flexibility in the processing order without restrictions. In the previous work in this field, there exist two representative methods;one provides flexible processing with a high hiding capacity of 2.17 bpp, and the other achieves the highest hiding capacity of 2.46 bpp by using the BOWS-2 dataset. The latter method has critical restrictions on the processing order. We focus on the advantage of the former method and introduce two efficient algorithms for maximizing the hiding capacity. With these algorithms, the proposed method can predict each pixel value with higher accuracy and refine the embedding algorithm. Consequently, the hiding capacity is effectively enhanced to 2.50 bpp using the BOWS-2 dataset, and a series of processes can be freely conducted without considering any restrictions on the order between data hiding and encryption. In the same way, there are no restrictions on the processing order in the restoration process. Thus, the proposed method provides flexibility in the privileges requested by users. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of hiding capacity and marked-image quality.

High capacity reversible data hiding for encrypted images based on full bit-plane compression

To achieve a high embedding capacity (EC) without any distortion in the directly decrypted result, a reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDH-EI) scheme based on full bit-plane compression (FBPC) is proposed. FBPC is designed to vacate as much room as possible before image encryption. To enrich the adjacent redundancy within the most significant bit (MSB) planes, we use flip prediction on the first MSB and then replace the other MSB planes with the XOR result between that plane and its higher level one successively. Hilbert curve scanning is introduced to reduce the dimensionality of the planes to obtain eight highly redundant bit sequences. Huffman coding is then utilizing to compress the bit sequences. After FBPC, a compressed image is obtained. Stream cipher with self-feedback is adapted to encrypt the image. Additional data could be embedded into the reserved space of the encrypted domain. Compared with existing RDH-EI algorithms, the proposed scheme could have a higher EC with no distortion in the directly decrypted image due to the high compression performance of FBPC. Experimental results on the BOWS-2 and BOSSbass datasets demonstrate that the average EC can reach 3.56 and 3.71 bits per pixel, respectively.

reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDH-EI) schemes based on secret sharing have emerged as a significant area of research in privacy protection. However, existing algorithms have limitations, such as low embedding capacity and insufficient privacy protection. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an RDH-EI scheme based on adaptive median edge detection (AMED) and matrix-based secret sharing (MSS). The algorithm creatively leverages the AMED technique for precise image prediction and then integrates the (r, n)-threshold MSS scheme to partition the image into n encrypted images. Simultaneously, it embeds identifying information during segmentation to detect potential attacks during transmission. The algorithm allows multiple data hiders to embed secret data independently. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm significantly enhances the embedding rate while preserving reversibility compared to current algorithms. The average maximum embedding rates achieved are up to 5.8142 bits per pixel (bpp) for the (3, 4)-threshold scheme and up to 7.2713 bpp for the (6, 6)-threshold scheme. With disaster-resilient features, the algorithm ensures (n-r) storage fault tolerance, enabling secure multi-party data storage. Furthermore, the design of the identifying information effectively evaluates the security of the transmission environment, making it suitable for multi-user cloud service scenarios.

In this paper, we propose a method for high-capacity reversible data hiding in compressible encrypted images. While reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDH-EI) has been actively studied, most previous research in this field has focused on the hiding capacity. We previously proposed an RDH-EI method that achieves both a high hiding capacity and high compression performance simultaneously. The method can effectively compress marked encrypted images using lossless image coding standards with a hiding capacity of up to about 1 bpp. In addition, there is an option to decrypt marked encrypted images without data extraction, so marked images can be obtained, still containing the embedded data, i.e., payload. Without losing the advantages of the previous method, we propose an extended method, in which the highest frequency bin is constantly used for data hiding. Consequently, the hiding capacity is further enhanced up to 2.45 bpp for each color component in the proposed method. Through our experiments, we prove the superiority of the proposed method.

Signal processing in encrypted domain has attracted high attention during the needs of content security and privacy protection. reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDH-EI) also becomes a hot topic. However, most of the published techniques are designed for uncompressed images rather than JPEG-, VQ- and BTC-compressed images. In this paper, for the first time, a RDH-EI method for AMBTC images is proposed. In this method, the higher mean and lower mean of a triple in AMBTC compressed image is encrypted by using stream cipher with the same random bits. Therefore, the spatial correlation of a nature image is preserved and redundant space can be exploited by using the histogram of prediction error. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can embed considerable bits while leave little distortion.

In recent years, the proliferation of cloud services, particularly social media, has spurred research on encryption-then-compression (EtC) systems for secure and efficient multimedia transmission. EtC systems compress encrypted images or provide compression-resilient encryption. To address the need for embedding authentication, copyright data, or tags to images in cloud services, this paper introduces a novel data hiding scheme for the EtC system. The EtC system which this paper focuses on converts an RGB color image to the YCbCr color image, followed by horizontally joining three color component images to form a grayscale image, and encrypts this grayscale image in non-overlapping blocks using block permutation, block rotation/inversion, and brightness inversion. The proposed data hiding scheme conceals data in unencrypted images and can extract it from encrypted images by manipulating diagonal pixel values within blocks. Sorting keys, generated from intra-block pixel value characteristics, ensure correct data sequence recovery. Moreover, the proposed scheme is reversible, allowing for the removal of embedded information, and uses different pixels within the same block for dual embeddings to increase payload. Compared to conventional schemes for the EtC system, the proposed scheme leverages all three visual encryption processes and considers the RGB-to-YCbCr conversion. Performance evaluation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

reversible data hiding in encrypted image (RDHEI) has recently seen high attention due to its superior embedding capacity (EC) and preservation of image quality. Central to their efficacy is the accuracy of the prediction techniques employed, coupled with the method for systematizing and compressing the obtained predicted errors. This paper delves into an extensive analysis of various predictors in high-capacity RDHEI (HC-RDHEI), covering a spectrum from basic approaches like difference prediction, median edge detection and gradient-based predictors to more advanced ones such as quad-tree-based prediction. It also meticulously evaluates the systematization and compression strategies for errors across these prediction methods. Using two datasets for experimental validation, this research provides a holistic overview of HC-RDHEI techniques and their prediction paradigms.
