The work is a development of the interval criterion for determining the moment when the steady-state value of the transition signal occurs. These criteria are used in technologies related to testing complex objects under conditions of parametric uncertainty of its model. The transient signal is analyzed in on-line mode. Therefore, the accuracy of the decision about the time of the end of the tests determines the cost of conducting them. Such tests are characterized by significant dynamic errors that significantly exceed the allowed level. The reasons for this are the parametric uncertainty in the mathematical model of the object and the inability of the deterministic interval criterion to correctly issue a solution under these conditions. It was previously determined that the interval criterion is characterized by the presence of an asymptotic critical value of the criterion. Exceeding the object's real time constant over the critical value gives a false positive result. This situation is characterized by the fact that the desired moment is falsely determined significantly earlier than the optimal solution. You can avoid this situation if you set the criteria to the maximum constant of the object's time. However, this choice leads to significant time losses when analyzing the transition signal. The solution of the problem of guaranteed provision of a given level of dynamic error over the entire range of values of the object model parameter is possible using a robust algorithm. The basis for constructing a robust criterion is to control the duration of the observation interval. For this purpose, the current information about the analyzed signal is used. There are three ways to apply the current information. The first approach is based on the use of an extrapolated estimate of the established value. This allows you to determine the estimate of the current dynamic error and prevent a falsely positive decision of the criterion. The second approach is based on the analys

This paper proposes an effective and robust algorithm for image alignment on a set of linearly correlated data. The new algorithm modifies the robust algorithm for Sparse and Low rank decomposition (RASL) by utilizing the prior information of partial column rank. To attain this, an extra term is incorporated in the decomposition of data matrix, which enables the new approach to be more resilient to errors, outliers and occlusions. The problem is cast as a constrained optimization problem, which is then solved by convex program. A new set of equations are also derived to update the variables involved in a round-robin manner. Conducted simulations on the recovery of aligned face images and handwritten digits reveal the effectiveness of the new algorithm compared with the main state-of-the-art works.

Automatic rectification of warped Bangla document images

In this study, a robust algorithm for dewarping of camera-captured document images, mainly in Bangla script, is proposed. The algorithm can handle various types of warped document images and they are generated due to different types of document surfaces (convex, concave or multi-folded). The proposed algorithm is independent of font type, font size, font style and camera view angle. After initial preprocessing, the method first demarcates the text lines present in the document image. Then, the headline (shirorekha) position of each text line is estimated. Based on the headline position and shape, each text line is dewarped. If the document is highly warped, distorted text (e.g. thinner and shorter characters) is generated after dewarping. Special care has been taken to minimise this distortion based on most undistorted character information. Exhaustive testing shows the robustness and shape improvement of the proposed algorithm. Finally, for shape quality evaluation, some new measures are defined.

HELICOPTER TRIM ANALYSIS BY SHOOTING AND FINITE-ELEMENT METHODS WITH OPTIMALLY DAMPED NEWTON ITERATIONS

Helicopter trim settings of periodic initial state and control inputs are investigated for convergence of Newton iteration in computing the settings sequentially and in parallel. The trim analysis uses a shooting method and a weak version of two temporal finite element methods with displacement formulation and with mixed formulation of displacements and momenta. These three methods broadly represent two Main approaches of trim analysis: adaptation of initial-value and finite element boundary-value codes to periodic boundary conditions, particularly for unstable and marginally stable systems. In each method, both the sequential and in-parallel schemes are used, and the resulting nonlinear algebraic equations are solved by damped Newton iteration with an optimally selected damping parameter. The impact of damped Newton iteration, including earlier-observed divergence problems in trim analysis, is demonstrated by the maximum condition number of the Jacobian matrices of the iterative scheme and by virtual elimination of divergence. The advantages of the in-parallel scheme over the conventional sequential scheme are also demonstrated.

Development and Verification of a Novel Measurement and Position System for Confined Cabin

The high-accuracy key points measurement is necessary for shipbuilding, and numerous measuring systems have been invented. However, there are still limitations and challenges in measurement frequency, calibration method and environmental disturbances. This paper presents a novel and automatic measurement and position system based on laser scan technology. The system components and mathematical model are introduced. Subsequently, a fast calibration method is established, also different calibration schemes and calibration algorithms are discussed. To avoid the environmental disturbances to this system, a robust positioning algorithm based on maximum likelihood estimation is presented. A series of simulation and verification experiments in normal and interferential environment are designed to evaluate the precision of the proposed system. The results shows that the system's position accuracy can reach 1.00mm with 50Hz output whether there are disturbances or not, which can meet the need of position in the confined cabin.

Extended Factitious Force Approach for Control of a Mobile Manipulator Moving on Unknown Terrain

In the paper a new control algorithm for mobile manipulators with skid-steering platform, moving on unknown terrain, has been introduced. The mobile manipulator consists of a skid-steering mobile platform and a 2R rigid manipulating arm mounted on the platform. Due to under-actuation of such mobile platforms, the concept of factitious force (which does not exist in reality and is assumed to be always 0) has been utilised. Presented control law, in adaptive and robust version, guarantees asymptotically fast convergence of tracking errors to 0, which has been proved in the article. Simulations, which have been conducted for object of considerations, confirm that the developed control law works properly even in terrain which parameters are unknown and piece-wise constant.

Accurate estimation of solute transport has significant importance in water resources and environmental engineering. Among the various types of mathematical formulation for modeling of solute transport, the transient storage model has been widely applied by different researchers as an appropriate model. In this study, an improved version of symbiotic organism search (SOS) algorithm was used to estimate the parameters of transient storage model. A large set of data from natural rivers of USA was collected from the literature and used for derivation and validation of the algorithm. The performance of the algorithm was evaluated by standard statistical indices. Accordingly, the values of R and RMSE for transient storage model parameters (K-f, T and epsilon) were obtained 0.922 and 30.62 (for K-f), 0.596 and 5645 (for T) and, 0.643 and 0.019 (for epsilon) for whole dataset. In addition, the results of this study were compared with those obtained by different reserachers via other models. The results indicate the higher capability of improved SOS algorithim compared to the others in estimating the transient storage model parameters.

Pitman Yor Diffusion Trees for Bayesian Hierarchical Clustering

In this paper we introduce the Pitman Yor Diffusion Tree (PYDT), a Bayesian non-parametric prior over tree structures which generalises the Dirichlet Diffusion Tree [30] and removes the restriction to binary branching structure. The generative process is described and shown to result in an exchangeable distribution over data points. We prove some theoretical properties of the model including showing its construction as the continuum limit of a nested Chinese restaurant process model. We then present two alternative MCMC samplers which allow us to model uncertainty over tree structures, and a computationally efficient greedy Bayesian EM search algorithm. Both algorithms use message passing on the tree structure. The utility of the model and algorithms is demonstrated on synthetic and real world data, both continuous and binary.

The finite impulse response (FIR) structure is extended to Markov linear systems (JMLSs) based on the optimal unbiased FIR filters developed for a general time-variant state-space system and the IMM algorithm. The proposed algorithm degenerates to the IMM approach as the estimation horizon length approaches infinity. Researchers introduce the IMM filter briefly and present the problem ormulation. The researchers demonstrate that it is known that the optimal Bayesian estimation for JMLSs in the minimum mean-square error sense is practical intractable because its computational complexity grows exponentially with the time step.
