Automated routing of feeders in electrical distribution grids

The energy transition in Europe is bringing a high number of decentralized generation units and new types of loads. This change in the load structure increases the complexity of planning processes, creating a need to reinforce and expand electrical distribution grids. Automating planning processes can help to accelerate and optimize expansion and reinforcement measures. This paper presents a modular method for automated routing based on rendered images of geographic maps and territory information in medium-and low-voltage grids with regards to economic factors and technical requirements. Optimized routes are determined on the basis of geographic information and under consideration of underground construction costs for cables depending on ground characteristics. Subsequently, the generated synthetic grids are benchmarked against real low-voltage grids of a German grid operator, Westfalen Weser Netz GmbH. The geographical comparison shows a signifi-cant reduction of trenches and cables. The comparison of the power flow results shows similar line loads and voltage bands for the synthetic and the real grids. This comparison with real grids confirms that the developed method is suitable for the automated planning of routes and configuration of feeders and thus it is an important contribution to automate the planning processes in distribution grids.

Prime turn model and first last turn model: An adaptive deadlock free routing for network-on-chips

Purpose: : Network-on-Chips (NoCs) have emerged as a valuable solution for the never-ending communication needs of large System-on-Chips (SoCs). It opened the doors for scalability, resource management, bandwidth, and power management for communication technologies. The performance and efficiency of NoCs is largely determined by the routing mechanism it uses to transfer the data. There occur many challenges while designing a routing algorithm, deadlock being one among them. Deadlock is one of the most frequently occurring and difficult to handle problem in NoCs. Hence the deployment of deadlock-free algorithms is necessary for the fruitful functioning of NoCs. In this paper, we are discussing multiple deadlock handling techniques, with a focus on deadlock prevention. Further, we have developed two models namely Prime Turn Model and First Last Turn Model for 2D meshes. Both these turn models are adaptive and deadlock-free. No virtual channels are used for deadlock prevention. The behavior and working of turn models along with pseudocode and simulations are all provided. They are compared with different already existing turn models for different traffic patterns. Simulation results show that our routing algorithms obtain good improvement in terms of latency and throughput and hence enhance performance.

Lotus: A New Topology for Large-scale Distributed Machine Learning

Machine learning is at the heart of many services provided by data centers. To improve the performance of machine learning, several parameter (gradient) synchronization methods have been proposed in the literature. These synchronization algorithms have different communication characteristics and accordingly place different demands on the network architecture. However, traditional data-center networks cannot easily meet these demands. Therefore, we analyze the communication profiles associated with several common synchronization algorithms and propose a machine learning-oriented network architecture to match their characteristics. The proposed design, named Lotus, because it looks like a lotus flower, is a hybrid optical/electrical architecture based on arrayed waveguide grating routers (AWGRs). In Lotus, a complete bipartite graph is used within the group to improve bisection bandwidth and scalability. Each pair of groups is connected by an optical link, and AWGRs between adjacent groups enhance path diversity and network reliability. We also present an efficient routing algorithm to make full use of the path diversity of Lotus, which leads to a further increase in network performance. Simulation results show that the network performance of Lotus is better than Dragonfly and 3D-Torus under realistic traffic patterns for different synchronization algorithms.

In a total grouping of dynamic interconnection networks, safe and quick routing is so important. The Benes network is one of the dynamic interconnection networks that are good for telephone networks, multi-processor systems, parallel computers, ATM switches and Navigation and radio communication between robots. In this paper, two models of Benes routing algorithm is introduced then compare them with looping; Hassan-José and fast algorithms in the speed of running time and implementation then introduce the optimum algorithm.

Automatic Control System of Balancing Agricultural Stereo Cultivation Based on Wireless Sensors

As a new development direction in the field of information science, wireless sensor network (WSN) has attracted wide attention of academia and industry with its huge application prospect. This research mainly discusses the automatic control system of balcony agriculture stereoscopic cultivation based on wireless sensor network. With the application background of environmental monitoring of protected cultivation, this paper analyzes the specific requirements of plant protected cultivation, and designs the overall scheme of wireless sensor network system with temperature, humidity and light as detection parameters. In this paper, a distance based routing algorithm is designed to realize the networking of wireless sensor networks, and the network simulation is carried out with TOSSIM. Aiming at the problem of packet loss in wireless network data transmission, this paper analyzes the operation mechanism and message structure of TinyOS operating system, and designs MAC protocol based on network synchronization to ensure reliable data transmission. The experimental results show that when the communication distance is 230 m, the two nodes can carry out normal data transmission;when the communication distance is less than 310 m, the bit error rate is very small;when the distance is more than 360 m, the bit error rate is significantly improved;when the distance is more than 400 m, the bit error rate is 100%. It can be seen that wireless sensor network can bring greater convenience to the acquisition of agricultural information, and it is of great significance to extend the application of wireless sensor network to the field of agricultural automation.

Quiet Route Planning for Pedestrians in Traffic Noise Polluted Environments

Noise pollution is one of the main stressors in urban environments, having negative impacts on people's quality of life and health. For some groups of citizens, such as school children, patients, and elders, there is a need to support them in finding pedestrian routes in noise polluted areas of cities. In this paper, we focus on the estimation of traffic noise, and present an approach to provide quiet routing services, taking into account the estimated noise levels of roads. By combining Volunteered Geographic Information, official socio-economic data, and open-access GPS trajectory data, we develop a set of traffic related variables, and apply machine learning methods to perform traffic volume estimations. Given the estimated traffic information, an existing traffic noise model is then employed to derive the noise polluted areas. For generation of quiet routes, a new routing algorithm is proposed based on the Dijkstra algorithm. It minimizes the exposure of pedestrians to traffic noise pollution while taking into account the route distance constraint. We apply our quiet routing approach to the city of Heidelberg (Germany). The application results demonstrate the efficacy of our algorithms in the generation of quiet routes customized to pedestrian preferences.

Application of UAV Cluster in Sea Rescue

At present, China's sea transportation develops rapidly, the scale is huge, and the rescue work cannot be ignored. Maritime rescue mainly focuses on personnel search and rescue, materials transportation, personnel transportation and other work. Due to the influence of hydrological conditions and wind direction, the scope of search and rescue has been expanded, and the workload of search and rescue has increased. At this stage, due to the characteristics of helicopters and rescue ships, there are certain technical shortcomings. This paper analyzes the basic situation of Marine rescue by analyzing the statistical data of Marine rescue, combined with some cases of Marine rescue operations in the current stage, and explores the idea of UAV cluster playing a role in carrying out Marine rescue tasks from the aspects of application characteristics, technical advantages and cost control.

Ecological environment fuzzy networking system protection based on optical fiber intelligent network

The optical fiber network has the characteristics of providing users with wider bandwidth and supporting the changing needs of more users. At the same time, the optical fiber network can also reduce the network infrastructure investment. The traditional Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) algorithm does not consider the impact of node movement on the network, and the link disconnection frequently occurs during the routing process. The ant colony algorithm based on swarm intelligence only considers the unique factor of pheromone concentration to find the optimal path through multiple iterations, which will increase the complexity of the algorithm and affect the route establishment delay. In response to the above problems, this paper proposes a routing algorithm based on fuzzy logic. The algorithm can comprehensively consider the three factors of node location, mobility and signal strength, and greatly reduces the complexity of the algorithm. This paper gives a detailed definition of profust reliability of the Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) system for distribution network communication and obtains the profust reliability parameters based on Monte Carlo simulation. After that, the reliability of profust under different networking modes was simulated, and the influence of network scale, component failure rate, component repair time and other parameters on the reliability of EPON networking profust was analyzed. The fuzzy probist reliability analysis method uses analytical methods, which are commonly used to deal with end-to-end reliability analysis problems and has certain limitations. Profust reliability analysis treats the system as a whole, which is more suitable for the reliability of complex end-to-multi-end systems.

The RV CCCr is a kind of variant network of cube-connected cycle (CCC) network, which is constructed by replacing each vertex in the hypercube with a circle of length 2r, and the hypercube is r-dimensional. The RV CCCr is regular and vertex-symmetric, which makes its topological properties easy to be analyzed. However, the length of the circle in RV CCCr is fixed to 2r which makes RV CCCr is inflexible. This paper proposes the family of generalized variational CCC networks, named RV CCC(r,k), where r is the dimension of the underlying hypercube and the length of each cycle in RV CCC(r, k) is k x r. Same to RV CCCr, the RV CCC(r, k) is also regular and vertex-symmetry. Since the length of each circle in RV CCC(r,k) is k x r, the RV CCC(r,k) is more suitable to construct any scale interconnection network than RV CCCr. After calculating the shortest internode distance between any two vertices in the RV CCC(r, k), we obtained the exact diameter of this network and the optimal routing algorithm was developed.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. Underwater robots, also known as autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), are amazing machines that are becoming increasingly important in a variety of disciplines, including sea environment exploration, data collection (for climate change), industry, and the military. Wireless nodes and relay nodes are randomly distributed and incorrectly selected, leading to void holes. Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for the UWSN were explored as a solution to the problem of void holes. The selection of an energy-efficient routing path that reduces the number of void holes has been presented using a neuro-fuzzy-based cluster-head selection and a k-means-based cluster creation. The creation of energy-efficient clusters is ensured by dynamic scheduling, which is also utilized to save energy. This protocol can deal with node failures in packet transmission in a timely way because of multi-hop routing. Simulated network performance is evaluated using the NS3 (AquaSim module) simulator, which includes the performance metrics such as average energy consumption, latency and packet delivery rate as well as throughput.
