This paper discusses two approaches for implementing routing algorithms in non-geostationary satellite constellations. The first approach considers XJDL and ISL routing sequentially and is called non-integrated routing. The second one, called integrated routing, solves the two problems simultaneously. These methods are compared from a routing opti-mality and routing complexity point of view. The location of the routing algorithm is also discussed, considering both earth stations and satellites as candidate routing platforms.
