High-order spatial discretisations in electrochemical digital simulation. Part 3. Combination with the explicit runge-kutta algorithm

The application of fourth-order finite difference discretisations of the second derivative of concentration with respect to distance from the electrode. in electrochemical digital simulations, is examined further. In the bulk of the diffusion space., a central 5-point scheme is used, and 6-point asymmetric schemes are used at the edges. In this paper, four runge-kutta schemes have been used for the time integration. The observed efficiencies, for the Cottrell experiment and chronopotentiometry, are satisfactory, going beyond those for the 3-point scheme. However, it is third-order runge-kutta, rather than the fourth-order scheme, which is the most efficient. the two resulting in practically the same errors. This is probably due to the computational procedure where a constant ratio of deltat/h(2) was used. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Dynamic analysis of a class of neutral delay model based on the runge-kutta algorithm

In this paper, we study the dynamics of a class of second-order neutral delay nonlinear models. This study is applicable to many fields, such as engineering, cybernetics, and physics. We use the runge-kutta algorithm and the Riccati transform method. First, we give a neutral delay nonlinear model based on the runge-kutta algorithm. Then, we study the dynamic characteristics of the neutral delay model and establish some new sufficient conditions for the oscillation. The results of our research are new, and these results promote and improve the results already available. The results are also verified by numerical experiments. The neutral delay nonlinear model has an important application in engineering, cybernetics, and physics. Therefore, the study of this paper has great help and promotion to engineering, cybernetics, and physics.

The conventional model predictive control (MPC) strategy produce current errors when the parameters of the inverter mismatch, which increases the Total Harmonic Distortion of grid current. To solve this problem, an improved method based on runge-kutta algorithm (RKA) is proposed. On the basis of the mathematical model of grid-connected inverter, current error of parameters mismatch of conventional MPC is analyzed. Moreover, Lagrange interpolation is performed to achieve the predictive current instead of the slope parameters of RKA, because the uncertain model with detailed parameters affects the prediction accuracy. Finally, simulation results verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the improved RKA approach.

Space tracking, telemetry, and command (TT&C) system can be viewed as a phased-mission system (PMS). Markov model for TT&C system reliability analysis was proposed based on Fault Tree model of all mission stages. To overcome the difficulty of the computational complexity and ensure computational accuracy in large TT&C system, a runge-kutta algorithm was presented. Numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has high accuracy for system of various scales.

Modified runge-kutta Integration algorithm for Improved Stability and Accuracy in Real Time Hybrid Simulation

Stability in Real Time Hybrid Simulation (RTHS) has been shown to be largely affected by system dynamics and associated phase lags. This lag typically originates in the physical components and considerable research has been conducted to compensate for it. Within the computational component of RTHS, different time integration algorithms are employed to achieve a more stable and accurate solution, mostly focusing on dissipating the high frequency content in the model. However, in RTHS, an inherent computational delay exists in the force measurement due to the sequential nature of communication between the numerical and experimental sub- structures. In this article, it is demonstrated that this computational delay affects performance and stability of closed loop RTHS even when no other delays or phase lags are present. This finding is validated through theoretical derivation and simulation results. A modified runge-kutta (MRK) integration algorithm is proposed to reduce the effect of computational delay. The MRK integration involves a three-stage computation: (1) the pseudo response is calculated using the delayed force measurement;(2) feedback force from the physical component for the next step is predicted using the pseudo response;and (3) the corrected structural response is then computed using the predicted feedback force. Both analytical and simulation results confirm that the MRK integration scheme is stable and accurate for a wide range time steps and is robust with respect to modeling error and nonlinearity in the experimental substructure. A moment-resisting frame is used as the experimental substructure in different cases of RTHS to validate the MRK integration method. This approach can also be adapted to other existing numerical integration schemes by applying the proposed three-stage computation process approach.

Predicting steady-state seepage flow in complex half-space using a modified scaled boundary finite element method

Seepage problems in half-space domains are crucial in hydrology, environmental, and civil engineering, involving groundwater flow, pollutant transport, and structural stability. Typical examples include seepage through dam foundations, coastal aquifers, and levees under seepage forces, requiring accurate numerical modeling. However, existing methods face challenges in handling complex geometries, heterogeneous media, and anisotropic properties, particularly in multi-domain half-spaces. This study addresses these challenges by extending the modified scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) and using this method to explore steady seepage problems in complex half-space domain. In the modified SBFEM framework, segmented straight lines or curves, parallel to the far-field infinite boundary, are introduced as scaling lines, with a one-dimensional discretization applied to them, thereby reducing computational *** the weighted residual method is applied to obtain the modified SBFEM governing equations and boundary conditions of steady-state seepage problem according to the Laplace diffusion equation and Darcy's law. Furthermore, the steady seepage matrix at infinity is obtained by solving the eigenvalue problem of Schur decomposition and then the 4th-order runge-kutta algorithm is used to iteratively solve until the seepage matrix at the boundary lines is reached. Comparisons between the present numerical results and solutions available in the published work have been conducted to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of this method. At the same time, the influences of the geometric parameters and complex half-space domain on the seepage flow characteristics in complex half-space domain are investigated in detail.

The precise monitoring and timely alerting of river water levels represent critical measures aimed at safeguarding the well-being and assets of residents in river basins. Achieving this objective necessitates the development of highly accurate river water level forecasts. Hence, a novel hybrid model is provided, incorporating singular value decomposition (SVD) in conjunction with kernel-based ridge regression (SKRidge), multivariate variational mode decomposition (MVMD), and the light gradient boosting machine (LGBM) as a feature selection method, along with the runge-kutta optimization (RUN) algorithm for parameter optimization. The L-SKRidge model combines the advantages of both the SKRidge and ridge regression techniques, resulting in a more robust and accurate forecasting tool. By incorporating the linear relationship and regularization techniques of ridge regression with the flexibility and adaptability of the SKRidge algorithm, the L-SKRidge model is able to capture complex patterns in the data while also preventing overfitting. The L-SKRidge method is applied to forecast water levels in the Brook and Dunk Rivers in Canada for two distinct time horizons, specifically one- and three days ahead. Statistical criteria and data visualization tools indicates that the L-SKRidge model has superior efficiency in both the Brook (achieving R = 0.970 and RMSE = 0.051) and Dunk (with R = 0.958 and RMSE = 0.039) Rivers, surpassing the performance of other hybrid and standalone frameworks. The results show that the L-SKRidge method has an acceptable ability to provide accurate water level predictions. This capability can be of significant use to academics and policymakers as they develop innovative approaches for hydraulic control and advance sustainable water resource management.

We present analytical results and numerical simulations for a class of nonlinear dispersive equations in two spatial dimensions. These equations are of (derivative) nonlinear Schrodinger type and have recently been obtained by Dumas et al. in the context of nonlinear optics. In contrast to the usual nonlinear Schrodinger equation, this new model incorporates the additional effects of self-steepening and partial off-axis variations of the group velocity of the laser pulse. We prove global-in-time existence of the corresponding solution for various choices of parameters. In addition, we present a series of careful numerical simulations concerning the (in-)stability of stationary states and the possibility of finite-time blow-up.
