Feature matching of fancy weft knitted stitch based on modified surf algorithm

In this paper, based on Hessian invariant moments, a new approach for classification of fancy weft knitted stitch was proposed. The speeded up robust features (surf) algorithm was used to identify fancy weft knitted samples including cable stitch and tuck stitch. Weft knitted stitch images generally contain many repeated features, wrong matches are easily encountered when the surf algorithm is applied to match images. To resolve this problem, the inflection point of misjudgment was found out. The general regularity of faults and the key threshold were concluded by analyzing a number of classification experiments. The results show that wrong matches can be removed by locking the inflection point and feature matching of fancy weft knitted stitch is proved to be feasible for assigning an unknown image to one of a set of known texture classes.

With the increasingly extensive application of robots in industrial production, visual of the robotic arm has become an important research direction in the field of robots, which is also recognized as believed to widely considered to the most vital directions of modern high-tech development. In the robot vision system, the binocular visual system is most widely applied. When the robotic arm based on binocular vision captures the object, surf algorithm is adopted to realize feature point extraction and matching of images. Because of the influence of the objective factors, there is false match in the process of surf matching of feature points. In this paper, surf algorithm is improved and reverse feature vectors matching strategy is used to initialize the matching points set. Then the RANSAC algorithm is adopted to select the initial matching points set in accordance of the polar geometric model to get the final good match set. The experiment results show that the improved surf algorithm has higher registration accuracy and faster speed than surf.

This paper proposes a novel remote sensing image segmentation method based on Gaussian mixture model and surf algorithm. Firstly, Gaussian mixture model is used for remote sensing image segmentation. Then the surf matching algorithm is adopted for eliminating misidentified areas. The determinant of Hession matrix (DoH) is used to detect key points in the image. The non-maximum suppression method and interpolation operation are utilized to search and locate the extreme points. The maximum likelihood method is used to estimate model parameters. Some remote sensing images in THE DOTA data set are selected for experimental verification, and the results show that the new algorithm has obvious improvement in segmentation effect and efficiency. In the background complex image segmentation, the improved algorithm has more obvious advantages compared than state-of-the-art segmentation methods.

With rapid road and bridge development, image-based crack detection technology has become important in current research. For large bridges, obtaining high-precision panoramic images is difficult. Therefore, image-stitching technology with mutual overlap rate producing high-definition images is crucial. In this paper, a low-overlap image mosaic method based on surf was proposed, which calculates feature points of collected images with low overlap rate by surf algorithm, then improves Harris operator to enhance angular point adaptability, followed by rough matching through 2 - NN, using RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus Random sampling uniformity) algorithm. eliminating wrong matching points to conduct accurate matching, and finally using multi-band fusion to solve excessive incoherence in joint-line and process image matching. The results show that image mosaics based on surf have higher matching accuracy, adaptability, and robustness in the case of low overlap rate, which lays a foundation for further crack detection and has strong application value.

Electronic book is usually used for users who want to read the text book with multimedia contents like video and audio. Many electronic books have been proposed with new interactive technologies such as spectacular multimedia effect, but these books lack in analog sensitivity and have only one way-based information interaction, and consequently those are inefficient for users. To solve the problem, in this paper, we propose a touch based interactive electronic-book;named RealBook, which can improve the interaction skill of the conventional electronic books by applying computer vision technology with surf algorithm. Our method can use analog sensitivity and fuse digital effects by using user-centric gestures recognition skill. In the near future, we will develop a more unique and interesting system by introducing various gestures for the interaction.

In order to quickly and accurately evaluate the effect of fruit tree branch bending in apple orchard production process, a quantitative detection method of fruit tree branch bending effect based on surf algorithm was proposed This study takes the three-year-old red Fuji apple tree in Yishui, Shandong Province as an example. Firstly, the image information of apple tree after branch bending operation was collected, and the binary image of apple tree branches was extracted by threshold method. Secondly, the skeleton extraction algorithm based on Euclidean distance transform is used to extract the skeleton image of fruit tree and determine the skeleton image of fruit tree trunk, extract all the pixels in the short neighborhood of the trunk, and use surf algorithm to detect and locate the intersection of fruit tree trunk and branch. Then, the angle of fruit tree branch is calculated by using cosine theorem, and the quantitative results are obtained by comparing with the requirements of apple tree agronomic production. Finally, two groups of data were obtained by using the fruit tree branch bending detection method based on surf algorithm and the artificial detection method respectively, and the significant difference between the two groups was tested. After testing, there is no significant difference between the two groups of data. At the same time, it takes 8.024 minutes to detect 100 fruit tree branch angle by using the quantitative detection method based on surf algorithm, which is much less than the manual measurement time. Therefore, the quantitative detection method of fruit tree branch bending effect based on surf algorithm can quickly and accurately measure the angle of fruit tree branch, and provide scientific basis for modern management and intelligent production of apple orchard.

In order to solve the problem of uneven distribution of picture features and stitching of images, an improved surf feature extraction method is proposed. Image feature extraction and image registration are the core of image stitching, which is directly related to stitching quality. In this paper, a comprehensive and in-depth study of feature-based image registration is carried out, and an improved algorithm is proposed. Firstly, the Heisen detection operator in the surf algorithm is introduced to realize feature detection, and the features are extracted as much as possible. Secondly, the characteristics are described by BRIEF operator in the ORB algorithm to realize the invariance of the rotation change. Then, the European pull distance is used to complete the similarity calculation, and the KNN algorithm is used to realize the feature rough matching. Finally, the distance threshold is used to remove the matching pair with larger distance, and then the RANSAC algorithm is used to complete the purification. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm has good real-time performance, strong robustness and high accuracy.

High-accuracy image matching algorithms are a crucial step of 3D reconstruction from multiple images, which can be used to create the accurate 3D models of spatial entities. surf, a conventional image matching algorithm, has the disadvantages of sparse matching, high incorrect rate. Thus, surf matching algorithms are hard to meet the demand of high-accuracy 3D reconstruction. This paper introduces the Msurf, a new image matching algorithm which combines homography and surf algorithm. Experiments are performed by comparing Msurf with conventional matching algorithms from the aspects of quantity and quality, and the experimental results verifies that Msurf can not only increase the quantity of match points, but also improve the accuracy of match points. In addition, the paper analyzes the experimental result, and acquired the application features of Msurf. Thereby, the new proposed matching algorithm, Msurf, extends and improves the existing matching algorithm, and ensures the high-accuracy 3D reconstruction.

The article presents a preliminary study into the detection of electrical insulators in digital images aquired during a power line inspection. Due to the enormous amount of digital data generated during a high voltage lines inspection, there is a need to automate the detection process of power insulators in digital images. As part of the study, the effects of applying spatial filtering into digital images for the purpose of the identification of electrical insulators with the use of a local feature detector and descriptor surf (Speeded Up Robust Features) were analyzed. The recognition and designation of an insulator's ROI (Region Of Interest) in a digital image will allow the application of more advanced methods aimed at the identification of possible damages in further stages of the analysis.
