Efficient FPGA-based real-time implementation of an svpwm algorithm for a delta inverter

This study proposes an efficient field programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation method of an enhanced space vector pulse width modulation (svpwm) algorithm for a delta inverter. The overall hardware configuration of the FPGA is made graphically using the high-level Xilinx system generator (XSG) programming tools. The proposed descriptive XSG model is first evaluated by running a hardware co-simulation test. The comparative study with computer simulations performed with Simulink shows a good agreement between the results of both methods, which approves the accuracy of the proposed descriptive XSG model. Moreover, an experimental test is carried out on a laboratory prototype of the delta inverter feeding an induction machine. The obtained high quality of the load currents confirms the feasibility of the proposed enhanced svpwm algorithm and the effectiveness of its implementation method on FPGA.

Three Level Bidirectional DC/DC Intelligent Control Technology for Photovoltaic Charging Station of Electric Vehicle Combined With svpwm algorithm

Due to new energy electric vehicle market developing rapidly, a series of energy supply problems in the charging system urgently need to be solved. The two subsystems of this new energy photovoltaic charging station system are studied respectively. Firstly, the topology equivalent circuit diagram of a three-level pulse width modulation rectifier is proposed. And a simplified space vector pulse width modulation algorithm is applied to the control of the current inner loop and voltage outer loop of three-level AC/DC. A three-level bidirectional DC/DC converter was introduced, its power characteristics and implementation conditions of soft switching were analyzed, and a phase shift modulation method was proposed to achieve its intelligent control. The results indicate that in the dynamic performance analysis of the simplified space vector pulse width modulation algorithm, the phase of phase A current and voltage are in a synchronous state before and after adding a load. After adding the load, the A-phase voltage remained stable at 300V, but its maximum current increased from 80A to 150A. At the same time, the maximum value of three-phase current suddenly changed from 80A to 150A after the load was added, and subsequently stabilized at about 150A. In the power characteristic experiment of a three-level bidirectional DC/DC converter, when the set current Iset is positive, the current value of the input current IinF of the primary bridge arm stabilizes at 11.5A around 0.025 seconds. When the set current Iset is negative, the current value of the input current IinF of the primary bridge arm stabilizes at -11.5A around 0.020s. This shows that the three-level bidirectional DC/DC converter can convert the photovoltaic system's output voltage to the voltage requirements on DC side of the inverter. Mutual-cell voltage imbalance is an inherent and critical problem for the cascaded converter, which has been found the vital industrial application. A novel space vector pulse width modulation (svpwm) algorithm is presented to address the mutual-cell voltage imbalance issue on the premise of internal-cell voltage balancing for the cascaded three-level converter in this paper. It introduces the specific implementation process of the proposed algorithm in detail including the way to choose the effective space vectors distributed in 3-D space and the equalizing principle. Compared with previously generalized solutions, it has the great capacity to balance the mutual-cell voltage imbalance without any jumping phenomenon of input voltage of each module under the condition of loads mutating. It is so simple, flexible and finally verified by the simulation and experiment.

Dynamic and Adjustable New Pattern Four-Vector svpwm algorithm for Application in a Five-Phase Induction Motor

In order to improve the Direct Current (DC) bus utilization ratio and realize harmonic suppression of a five-phase induction motor, the svpwm (Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation) algorithm was researched in depth. Based on an analysis of the present svpwm algorithm and the volt-second balance principle, a dynamic and adjustable new pattern four-vector svpwm algorithm was proposed. The algorithm uses the modulation index and zero vector to improve the characteristics of the inductor motor, the function relationship with real-time dynamic ratio between the action time ratio of the space voltage vector and the modulation index was proposed to maximize DC bus utilization ratio, and the random zero-vector dynamic modulation mode was used to reduce harmonic influence, being able to spread harmonics concentrated around certain frequencies across a wider frequency band and thus produce a more continuous and uniform power spectrum. The new algorithm model was built using Matlab/Simulink, and the simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the algorithm is effective and feasible.

This paper mainly studies the main topology of the active neutral point clamp five-level (5L-ANPC) inverter and analyzes the working principle of the inverter. Because the traditional space vector pulse width modulation (svpwm) method of the inverter requires the operation of trigonometric function on the time calculation of the sector, which increases the complexity of the inverter control, an improved svpwmmodulationmethod based on g-h coordinate system is realized. The modulation algorithm uses the feature that the basic vector of three-level inverter is 60 degrees, establishes a 60 degrees vector coordinate system, avoids the complex trigonometric function operation in sector time calculation, greatly reduces the calculation workload required for the implementation of the control algorithm, reduces the difficulty of the implementation of the algorithm, and improves the operation speed of the inverter. By building a software model for simulation and conducting experimental verification on the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Modeling and control strategy analysis of a hydraulic energy-storage wave energy conversion system

Worldwide increasing energy demands promote development of environment-friendly energy sources. As consequences, ocean wave is exploited as an ideal energy source to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. In this paper, a hydraulic energy-storage wave energy conversion system is constructed, and a mathematical model of main components is built for analysis. Control strategies of generator-side and grid-side are defined for the system, where a Vienna rectifier is applied to converter of generator-side. A two-level space vector plane simplified modulation method for Vienna rectifier is designed for the threelevel system and a modulation algorithm is detailed, which has lower complexity compared with traditional three-level space vector pulse width modulation (svpwm) algorithm. An improved adjusting factor method is proposed to solve the potential imbalance of neutral point caused by uneven charging to the upper and lower capacitors in the three-level structure, which optimizes sector division and inhibits the neutral-point potential offset and fluctuation effectively. Using Matlab/Simulink, the intermittent and continuous power conversion modes of the system under different wave conditions are simulated. The results indicate stable operation of the system, feasible topology scheme, modulation algorithm and control strategy, and effective suppression of AC-side harmonics. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. A space-vector pulse-width modulation (svpwm) algorithm for a three-level asymmetrical six-phase drive based on vector-space decomposition approach is presented in this study. A modification in zero-plane of the transformation matrix is proposed in order to meet the requirement that the realisation of sinusoidal output phase voltages can be obtained through the chosen output leg voltage space vectors. Furthermore, a method of choosing the switching sequences based on all possible one-level transitions of the leg voltages, i.e. a permutation method, is introduced. The algorithm is then validated experimentally and obtained results show that the developed method successfully achieves the desired fundamental phase voltage, though low-order harmonics are present due to uncompensated inverter dead time. Finally, the performance of the proposed svpwm algorithm is compared with several carrier-based PWM algorithms including in-phase disposition with 'double min-max injection'. This is a little-known type of injection, which is verified to obtain identical performance as the presented multilevel algorithm.

Space-vector pulse-width modulation algorithm for multilevel voltage source inverters based on matrix transformation and including operation in the over-modulation region

Multilevel voltage source inverters are most promising when employed in high-power and high-voltage applications. As the number of inverter levels increases, the algorithm of space-vector pulse-width modulation (svpwm) becomes increasingly complex. Based on the intrinsic relationship between svpwm algorithms for 2-level inverters and those for arbitrary-level inverters, here a novel svpwm algorithm is proposed for an arbitrary-level inverter. Considering that the nearest three vectors are used to synthesise the reference vector, the on-time of the voltage vector for an arbitrary-level inverter can be acquired from that for a 2-level inverter via the use of a linear transformation. This algorithm is verified through simulation and experiments, with the latter proving that the proposed algorithm can meet the real-time requirements of multilevel inverters.
