Hybrid seeker optimization algorithm for Global optimization

Swarm intelligence algorithms have been succesfully applied to hard optimization problems. seeker optimization algorithm is one of the latest members of that class of metaheuristics and it has not yet been thorougly researched. Since the early versions of this algorithm were less succesful with multimodal functions, we propose in this paper hybridization of the seeker optimization algorithm with the well known artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm. At certain stages we modify seeker's position by search formulas from the ABC algorithm and also modify the inter-subpopulation learning phase by using the binomial crossover operator. Our proposed algorithm was tested on the complete set of 23 well-known benchmark functions. Comparisons show that our proposed algorithm outperforms six state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of the quality of the resulting solutions as well as robustenss on most of the test functions.

A design problem of non-uniform circular antenna arrays for the best optimal performance with the help of seeker optimization algorithm is dealt with in this paper. This problem is modeled as a simple optimization one. The algorithm is used to determine an optimum set of current excitation weights and antenna inter-element separations that provide radiation pattern with maximum reductions of side lobe level (SLL) and first null beamwidth (FNBW). Circular array antennas lying on x-y plane are assumed. The same algorithm is applied successively on circular arrays of 8, 10 and 12 elements. Various simulation results are presented. Performances of side lobe and FNBW are analyzed. Experimental results show considerable reductions of both SLL and FNBW with respect to the uniform case and those of some referred literature [3, 4] based on GA and PSO, respectively.

Rail potential control with train diagram optimization in multitrain DC traction power system

Currently, abnormally elevated rail potential exists in the DC traction power system, which greatly threatens the safe operation of the line. In order to realize the reflux safety, timetable optimization of multitrain based on improved seeker optimization algorithm (SOA) is proposed to suppress the rail potential of the system. Firstly, the simulation model of the system is built and the calculation process of rail potential is proposed. Secondly, an optimization model based on maximum rail potential is formulated, where the dwell time is the decision variable and is adjusted to change the regenerative power distribution of the system. Finally, the improved SOA is used to handle the optimization model. Compared with the maximum rail potential before optimization, the simulation results demonstrate that the maximum rail potential is reduced by 55.5% with the proposed method, which greatly improves the reflux safety of the multi-train subway system.

This paper focuses on the application of a novel heuristic population-based seeker optimization algorithm (SOA) for the optimization of the different tunable parameters of an autonomous power system model. In the SOA, the act of human searching capability and understanding are exploited for the purpose of optimization. In this algorithm, the search direction is based on empirical gradient by evaluating the response to the position changes and the step length is based on uncertainty reasoning by using a simple Fuzzy rule. The SOA yields off-line, nominal system parameters. This paper also presents the design and the performance analysis of a Sugeno Fuzzy logic (SFL) controller for the studied model which tracks the deviation of terminal voltage in real-time for any sort of input perturbation. Genetic algorithm is taken for the sake of comparison. Time-domain simulation of the investigated power system model reveals that the proposed SOA-SFL yields on-line, off-nominal controller parameters, resulting in on-line terminal voltage response. Speed control strategy for pump-motor hydraulic transmission subsystem in hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission

Hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission is mainly composed of a pump-motor hydraulic transmission subsystem, a mechanical transmission subsystem, a power shunt device, and a power coupling device. Among them, the pump-motor hydraulic transmission subsystem, as a speed control element, has a serious effect on the speed control performance of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission. However, the poor controllability and stabilization of the output speed during variable speed input and load disturbance greatly limit the further development of the speed control performance of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission. To address these problems, this paper proposes an adaptive speed tracking compound control strategy that is based on neural network model reference adaptive control, seeker optimization algorithm, fuzzy control algorithm, and the PID controller. Simulation and testing results show that the control effect of the proposed strategy is more obvious than that of the traditional speed control strategies based on particle swarm optimization algorithm-PID and genetic algorithm-PID, and its applicability under the complicated working conditions is enhanced. This study can serve as a basis for the design and practical application of the pump-motor hydraulic transmission subsystem of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission in engineering and agricultural machinery.

PREDICTION MODEL OF LIQUID HOLDUP BASED ON SOA-BPNN algorithm

In the actual operation of wet gas pipeline, liquid accumulation is easy to form in the low-lying and uphill sections of the pipeline, which leads to a series of problems such as reduced pipeline transportation efficiency, increased pipeline pressure drop, hydrate formation, slug flow and intensified corrosion in the pipeline. Accurate calculation of liquid holdup is of great significance to the research of flow pattern identification, pipeline corrosion evaluation and prediction, and gas pipeline transportation efficiency calculation. Based on the experimental data of liquid holdup in horizontal pipeline, a commonly used BP neural network (BPNN) model is established in this paper. In order to improve the accuracy of BPNN model, Genetic algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) and seeker optimization algorithm (SOA) are used to optimize the initial weights and thresholds of BPNN model, and GA-BPNN model, PSO-BPNN model and SOA-BPNN model are established. By comparing the model accuracy, the average absolute error of SOA-BPNN prediction model is 3.7351%, and the root mean square error is 0.0113. This model has high prediction accuracy and wide application range, which is obviously superior to other algorithms, and provides a new method for accurate prediction of liquid holdup of wet gas pipeline.

The unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is developing towards miniaturization, lightweight and intelligence. Path tracking and energy-saving control strategies are of great significance. In this study, a hierarchical control strategy is proposed to realize the path tracking control of six-wheel independent drive UGV (6WID UGV) based on differential steering, where actuator fault and energy-saving are considered. Firstly, a model free adaptive sliding mode control (MFASMC) method is utilized in the upper controller to estimate the required yaw moment. Then, in the lower controller, the seeker optimization algorithm (SOA) is utilized to achieve the torque distribution, realize the required yaw moment and longitudinal force, and reduce the energy consumption in the process of path tracking. The fault-tolerant control is considered in the torque distribution strategy to ensure the stability of 6WID UGV in case of motor execution fault. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation under various operating conditions. The results show that the proposed method has better control performance, and the characteristics of energy-saving are optimized while ensuring the vehicle stability. ?? 2022 Elsevier Ltd. The autonomous path planning problem of the USV in the complex battlefield situation environment is studied, an autonomous path planning algorithm for the USV based on polar coordinate modeling and crowd search algorithm is proposed. First, the basic principles of the crowd search algorithm are studied, and the self-interest behavior, altruistic behavior, pre-action behavior and uncertainty reasoning behavior of the crowd search algorithm are analyzed in detail. Then the search step, search direction and individual position of the crowd search algorithm update the rules and algorithm flow. Next, the algorithm in this paper, the traditional differential evolution algorithm, and the artificial bee colony optimization algorithm are used for typical function optimization problems. Simulation experiments show that the algorithm proposed in this paper is significantly better than other algorithms. Finally, based on polar coordinate modeling, the USV path code is placed in two-dimensional polar coordinates, and then the distance relationship between the current path point, the next path point and the obstacle point of the USV are used to determine whether to plan the path. When obstacles are encountered, the shortest and absolutely safe navigation route is obtained by calling the crowd search algorithm for path planning. Simulation experiments verify the effectiveness of the algorithm proposed in this paper.

seeker optimization algorithm (SOA), a novel heuristic population-based search algorithm, is utilized in this paper to solve different economic dispatch (ED) problems of thermal power units. In the SOA, the act of human searching capability and understanding are exploited for the purpose of optimization. In this algorithm, the search direction is based on empirical gradient by evaluating the response to the position changes and the step length is based on uncertainty reasoning by using a simple fuzzy rule. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been tested on four different small, as well as, large scale test power systems to solve the ED problems. The outcome of the present work is to establish the SOA as a promising alternative approach to solve the ED problems in practical power systems. Both the near-optimality of the solution and the convergence speed of the algorithm are promising. The results obtained are compared with those published in the recent literatures. Renewable energy is obtained from various natural processes such as heat generated by sun. Solar energy fluctuates with the intensity of the radiated light. As a result the output power of the panel varies. This varying supply can neither be connected to grid nor used for load. Hence to obtain a constant power, maximum power point technology (MPPT) is adopted. Existing algorithms like Perturb and Observe technique and Incremental Conductance proved to be less efficient in finding the optimal solution. Hence soft computing technique called seeker optimization algorithm is proposed to find the maximum power point. The proposed MPPT control algorithm is developed in MATLAB, which optimizes the PV panel voltage. Generated solar energy usually requires conversion to an alternating quantity, which requires the use of inverters. A seven level inverter is implemented to obtain a harmonic less AC output. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm proves to be more efficient than the existing techniques.
