We review our recent research progress on digital signal processing tailored for fibre-optical parametric amplifiers (FOPAs), by presenting an online method for correcting the accumulated amplitude and phase distortions induced by the phase modulation of the pump sources and its interaction with the dispersive fibre channel in transmission systems using cascaded FOPAs.

A new algorithm for processing of quasiquadrature interferometric signals in optical sensors of incus vibration, based on a 3x3 single-mode fiber optical coupler and low current VCSEL, is presented. This sensor serves as a microphone in the totally implantable hearing aid device. The amplitude of incus vibration spans over a large dynamic range, from a few picometers to a few nanometers, corresponding to sound pressure levels of 30-120 dB, superimposed on slow and hundreds micron large movement of the incus, which is induced by atmospheric pressure changes and the patient physiological activities. Instead of the usual interferometric phase demodulation based on arctangent function, which is processor time and power-consuming, we propose a simple, fast, but accurate technique. In this approach, the low-frequency components of the raw quasi-quadrature signals are used to determine the octant in which the photodetector signals are located and the audio-frequency component of one or another photodetector signal is forwarded to the output, after a simple processing. Two 16bit ADCs, a DC restoration circuit for each of the interferometric channels and one 16-bit DAC are employed. The sampling rate was 16 kS/s and an ultra-low power 16-bit fixed-point microcontroller performed the signal processing.

This paper describes the educational experience of developing lab components and projects designed to enhance understanding key signal processing concepts in undergraduate signals and Systems courses. Students work with signal-processing algorithms commonly used in auditory models and speech-processing applications for hearing aids and cochlear implants. This approach provides an interactive way to understand digital filters, nonlinear systems, speech analysis and synthesis, Fourier transform, and modulation/demodulation. Assessment results show that students have a highly favorable view of these specially designed labs and projects.

This study aims at the signal processing problem of long-distance broadband communication of unmanned aerial vehicles and proposes an efficient processing solution based on denoising autoencoder algorithm. This paper first analyzes the channel model of broadband communication of unmanned aerial vehicles and designs an adaptive denoising autoencoder algorithm. It accurately extracts the characteristics of target signals through nonlinear mapping and effectively suppresses noise interference. The algorithm combines channel estimation and noise dimension reduction technology to further optimize the transmission quality of the signal. In this paper, communication simulation is used in different SNR conditions to evaluate its performance under complicated communication environment. Simulation results indicate that the proposed denoising algorithm is superior to the SNR. Compared with the conventional method, the SNR is increased by 15%, BER is decreased by 30%, and the communication stability and transfer speed are improved obviously. The results show that the proposed algorithm is effective and practical in UAV long distance broadband communication.

To address the false alarm issue caused by the calm variations of the geomagnetic field in underwater magnetic target detection, a magnetic anomaly signal processing method based on the moving variance algorithm is proposed, and experiments are conducted for verification. First, an underwater magnetic anomaly detection model is established, and based on this model, an underwater acquisition experiment for magnetic anomaly signals is designed. Then, an appropriate window width is selected to extract the magnetic anomaly characteristics of the experimental signals using the moving variance algorithm. Finally, the extracted results are compared with the actual conditions observed during the experiment. The experimental results show that the extracted magnetic anomaly is in good agreement with the actual situation. The proposed method is not affected by the normal fluctuations of the geomagnetic field and can conveniently and effectively extract magnetic anomaly information to determine whether a target has passed through.

This research proposes a complete approach for reducing noise in industrial equipment by combining well-known signal processing methods with cutting-edge algorithms. This new approach to noise cancellation and equipment health monitoring makes use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Wavelet Denoising (WD), and Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC). The principal sensor readings are subjected to a frequency-domain noise removal method called Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC). To remove time-domain noise, WD employs a multi-resolution examination of the signal. Using deep learning on a dataset consisting of both noisy and clean signals, CNN are used for real-time noise reduction and defect identification. This multi-step process starts with ANC, which decreases the most prominent noise components, then moves on to WD for fine scale denoising, and finally utilizes a convolutional neural network (CNN) as an adaptive filter to eliminate any remaining noise and identify any mechanical malfunctions. The suggested approach provides a comprehensive answer for lowering noise levels, improving machine output, and allowing the early diagnosis of mechanical problems. Because of its adaptability, it may be used with many kinds of equipment in the manufacturing sector.

In this paper, we introduce a technique for detecting and classifying transients within an electrical signal. Our approach uses the standard matched filter for transient detection and employs graph signal processing and cross-correlation for transient classification. In this way, a more precise analysis of the condition of the power system can be made. The results indicate that this method effectively identifies various types of transients and proficiently categorizes them, also addressing cases where transient classes are not well defined. Furthermore, our procedure exhibits robustness to changes in criteria, offering potential benefits for real signal analysis. To facilitate comprehension, the approach is presented through a detailed, step-by-step example.

In this paper, a perspective method of adaptive beamforming using a reconfigurable holographic feed-through antenna with external horn excitation is considered. This kind of system provides wavefield reception and emission as a result of waves passing through a diffraction plate with controlled amplitude or phase transmittance. The results of numerical modelling show the possibility of increasing the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio and suppressing unwanted interference in received signals during plate reconfiguration based on the Cantoni orthogonal perturbation method.

With the rapid development of digital media technology, image analysis plays a vital role in the fields of digitalization and informatization. This article will provide an in-depth explanation of face recognition and classification, morphological modeling principles, and processing methods. Through the analysis and research on feature extraction of graphic signals, this article designs corresponding algorithms and uses MATLAB toolbox diagram software to verify the experimental results. Research shows that the recognition rate of angry and happy expressions is 100% within a distance of 300m. Then, like the recognition rate of the other three expressions, as the recognition distance increases, the overall trend decreases, but the overall recognition rate is above 90%. This shows that the recognition accuracy of this system is relatively high. At the same time, the lowest error and omission rate of this system is 0%, and the highest error and omission rate is 10%.

The spectrum is complex and the interference is serious when there are non-integer inter-harmonics. Aiming at this, a fourth-order Kaiser self-convolution window function obtained by convolution operation is proposed. Because of its characteristics, it can improve frequency resolution and reduce spectrum interference. At the same time, the spectral phase difference correction method is used to reduce the fence effect and reduce the amount of calculation. The simulation example analysis shows that the algorithm can accurately measure the harmonic and interharmonic parameters, has high measurement accuracy, and has certain anti-frequency interference.
