Precise indoor positioning has become increasingly important with the rise of Internet of things (IoT), robotics, and autonomous vehicles, etc. In this paper, we focus on time of arrival (TOA) based ranging through channel impulse response (CIR) by machine learning algorithms. The CIR data is obtained in extensive experiments using ultra-wideband (UWB) transceivers as the anchor and tag. We collect a dataset of 412, 172 traces of CIR data across 12 indoor line-of-sight (LOS) scenarios. This dataset is used to train and test three machine learning models, including long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent units (GRU), and multi-layer perception (MLP), to predict the range between the anchor and tag. The results demonstrate that LSTM and GRU models outperform traditional methods and the UWB device's built-in ranging algorithm in terms of mean squared error (MSE), root mean squared error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE).

In this study, we explore the application of compressed sensing techniques to Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) signal reconstruction using the Ramanujan Transform. SAR signal processing is critical for various remote sensing applications, necessitating efficient and accurate reconstruction methods. We implement two reconstruction algorithms: Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) and Basis Pursuit (BP), both leveraging the sparse representation capabilities of the Ramanujan Transform. The SAR signals are initially transformed using the Ramanujan Transform to obtain a sparse representation, which is then processed using OMP and BP for signal reconstruction. We evaluate the performance of both methods by comparing their Mean Squared Error (MSE) in reconstructing the original SAR signals. Our results demonstrate that while both methods are effective, there are notable differences in their reconstruction accuracy and computational efficiency. This comparative analysis provides valuable insights into the suitability of OMP and BP for SAR signal reconstruction, highlighting the potential of the Ramanujan Transform in enhancing compressed sensing techniques for remote sensing applications.

During the design of any demodulation scheme in Compressive Sensing-based Time-of-Flight, we face two opposing criteria. On the one hand, we aim to minimize the number of measurements and, thus, the number of rows of the sensing matrix, to reduce acquisition times and approach real-time operation. On the other hand, we would like to recover the target's depth in a grid as fine as possible to enhance the depth resolution. In this scenario, the sensing matrices become fat and their coherence close to the unit. In this paper, we present an original error-correction method to prevent from the appearance of depth estimation errors derived from this effect. Our algorithm first identifies the most correlated columns in the sensing matrix and then exploits the recovered depths over a pixel neighborhood to determine the most recommendable correction. Without loss of generality, we add this step to each iteration of Orthogonal Matching Pursuit and evaluate the performance gain.

This paper proposes a data detection technique for screen-to-camera (S2C) based on visible light communication (VLC) system. In this optical camera communication (OCC) based system, the data transmitted as an image utilizing the transmitter smartphone screen (Tx) to be captured and decoded by the receiver smartphone camera (Rx). The region-of-interest (ROI) extraction is carried out on the received image followed by grayscale conversion, edge detection, pixel grouping, Hough and projective transform. The proposed method is executed on the Android platform across varying link spans, tilt angles, and rotation conditions. The results indicate that the introduced data detection algorithm, improved the overall detection rate to ~98%.

In this paper, a new search algorithm in the assessment of airport runway damage is developed based on the vulnerability of airport runway targets. The calculation model of the damage effectiveness of submunitions on airport targets is established based on the Monte Carlo sampling method. On the basis of considering the influence of CEP on blocking efficiency, the applicable conditions of two types of search methods, window traversal method and window scanning method, are studied. The numerical results show that when the CEP of the parent projectile is smaller, the blocking probability of the two search algorithms is comparable; as the CEP of the parent projectile increases, the error of the window scanning method increases, and the value of the blocking probability is gradually larger; however, the window traversal method has lower computational efficiency, so in practical calculations, we can refer to the specific value of the CEP to select the corresponding search algorithm.

This study takes the readability level and capability requirements of power grid standard machines as the theme, and deeply explores the transformation of relevant data forms in the process of power standard digitization and its impact on digital standards. By constructing an algorithm framework based on machine-readable standards, the study proposes a digital transformation technology route suitable for the power grid environment. This technology route evaluates the operating efficiency and data processing accuracy of power grid standard machines at different readability levels through system simulation. The simulation results show that the power digital standard using machine-readable standards has significant advantages in improving data transmission efficiency and reducing error rate. Specific data analysis shows that at high readability levels, the accuracy of the system is improved to more than 98%, and the response speed is 30% higher than that of traditional digital methods. This study provides new ideas for the digital transformation of power grid standard machines and lays a solid foundation for the promotion of machine-readable standards in the power industry in the future.

One of the biggest problems with an elderly living alone at home is that of falls. Without prompt assistance and medical treatment, failure to detect falls in a timely manner could lead to more serious injury or death. While there are existing solutions that requires the elderly to wear sensors such as accelerometers or gyroscopes on their bodies, this is inconvenient to them and many will resist putting on such sensors. There is therefore a need to look for a less intrusive solution such as using computer vision and deep learning. In this paper, we proposed a novel framework which combines the advantages of Residual neural network (ResNet) and Long-Short term memories network (LSTM) to perform fall detection. The feature maps can be extracted from each frames by the trained ResNet network which is used to identify important features. Those feature maps are then fed in to an LSTM model to detect the existence of a fall. Our approach achieved a 100% detection accuracy on the URFD dataset and a 97.3% detection accuracy on the FDD dataset, outperforming other state-of-the-art algorithms.

In the automobile industry, many vehicles have an unknown history, so they may use scams and fraud. Leveraging Blockchain technology to securely store and manage vehicle purchase details and vehicle information to prevent fraud and provide conditional privacy. Transactions of vehicles are recorded on the Blockchain, guaranteeing data integrity and immutability through another cryptographic hashing function. The paper also explores interoperability with other Blockchain systems and scalability solutions for increasing transaction volumes. Future scope of improvements will involve adopting a more secure hashing algorithm, integrating smart contracts to automate trans-actions, and creating a user-friendly, decentralized application for the system interaction. This work highlights the transformative potential of blockchain technology in revolutionizing secure data management within the automotive industry. The empirical results prove the efficacy of the proposed system.

This paper presents a Passive Optical Network (PON) performance analysis using modulation schemes based on amplitude and complex modulation. This research uses the simulation software OptiSystem in co-simulation with Matlab. Data transmitted at 50 and 100 Gbps employ four-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM-4) and 4-level Phase Shift Keying (Q-PSK) schemes. The results are presented in graphs corresponding to the relationship of Bit Error Rate (BER) and reception power for scenarios of different lengths and attenuation values, supported by constellation diagrams and eye diagrams, which show the performance of the Next Generation Passive Optical Networks(NG-PON).

In the past few years, the adaptive waveform design algorithm has emerged; it improves multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) radar performance by designing the transmitting radar waveforms to adapt to the changes of targets, noise, and clutter in the environment. A MIMO radar waveform design method based on compressed sensing is proposed by using the gradient descent method. Considering the prior information on noise and interference in the environment, the compressed sensing (CS) MIMO model is designed, and the objective function is to maximize the signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) of the radar. Then the method of joint optimization of the transmit signal and filter is used to obtain the transmit waveform with better detection performance. Compared with the conventional MIMO radar, the optimized waveform of CS-MIMO can greatly reduce the amount of data. Computer simulation shows that the detection performance of the optimized waveform is better than that of the traditional linear frequency modulated (LFM) waveform.
