Cryptanalysis has emerged to be an important topic in the era of modern emerging technologies. The cryptanalysis of simplified data encryption standard (S-DES) is a NP-Hard combinatorial problem. This paper has two goals. Firstly, we study the cryptanalysis of S-DES via nature-inspired meta-heuristic algorithms namely Cuckoo Search, Firefly and Black-Hole Optimization Algorithms. Each of these algorithms is based on fascinating natural phenomena and exploits the inherent uniqueness of such phenomena to solve optimization problems. Secondly, we present a comparative study on the efficiency of these three fairly new algorithms with that of previously established Memetic Algorithm and Genetic Algorithms in regard to S-DES cryptanalysis. Through experimentations and extensive tests, it has been shown that the proposed algorithm based on Cuckoo Search proves to be most efficient with respect to accuracy and execution time.

Nowadays, information security is based on ciphers and cryptographic systems. What evaluates the quality of such security measures is cryptanalysis. This paper presents a new cryptanalysis attack aimed at a ciphertext generated with the use of the SDES (simplified data encryption standard). The attack was carried out with a modified version of the BPSO (Binary Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. A well-adjusted version of this method can have a positive effect on the quality of the results obtained in a given period of time.

In this paper, we have introduced an improved combined cryptography-error correction method, which is called "Crypto-Coding". Although in previous experiments, combined error correction and encryption functionality has been studied into one single step, the modification needed in the introduction of encryption block improves the performance of the system. The combined System's performances are evaluated on Land Mobile Satellite (LMS) Channel. The results are compared with the system using ideal encryption and decryption.
