We present a simple algorithm for removing or reducing spurious oscillations in the THz spectra which result from secondary reflection peaks in samples or optical elements. The algorithm utilizes the fact that a THz time-domain trace containing secondary peaks can be represented as a convolution of the main peak and two or more delta functions.

In today's highly urbanized environment, indoor space is becoming more and more complex. In this paper, a fast real-time positioning system with high precision and low cost is developed based on Bluetooth signal. In this paper, the clients and servers are established with several Raspberry Pis, which can sense mobile detection targets by detecting Bluetooth signal. Information exchange is realized through web-based and embedded database applications. The smoothing algorithm is adopted to reduce positioning error, and graphical display technique is adopted for visualizing location information. The desired result is an integrated solution for Bluetooth-based indoor positioning system, which has a good application performance and practicability.

We propose an EGI/IMU integrated smoothing algorithm based on extended Kalman filter (EKF) for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) motion compensation. Conventional navigation algorithms have discontinuities intrinsically which are caused by the measurement update done by the Kalman filter. The discontinuities are as harmful to the SAR image quality significantly as the relative position error. In order to eliminate discontinuities and to reduce relative position error, an additional inertial measurement unit (IMU) is used with master embedded GNSS inertial navigation system (EGI). The additional IMU contributes to smoother output and navigation accuracy. The error correction by EKF is performed gradually between measurement updates, which significantly improves the smoothing performance. Through Monte-Carlo simulation, the performance improvements in relative accuracy and continuity are confirmed.

Pretreatment of near-infrared spectral data is the basis of feature extraction, quantitative and qualitative analysis and establishment of models, it plays a significant role in obtaining the data and get reliable results. The purpose of the paper is compared the advantages and disadvantages of the S-G, derivative and multiple algorithm methods of spectral preprocessing through the example of apple leaves. S-G algorithm can smooth the data relatively better, but we must according to the specific circumstances of the case while chose the width of the window and the order of polynomial;Kernel smoothing is better than S-G in two-ends data processing, but its processing speed is slower than S-G. Derivative algorithm can get more stable reflectance, but it is sensitive to noise, so it need to be used with the smoothing algorithm. Multiple scatter correction can be used effectively to eliminate the translation and offset of baseline. All of above algorithms have been applied in the system of near infrared spectroscopy processing system of leaves and satisfactory result was obtained.

In the Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) system, the pilot signal has high sensing performance due to its good autocorrelation and high transmit power. However, the equally spaced pilot signal reduces the maximum unambiguous range and velocity compared with the OFDM signal with continuous resources, limiting the sensing performance of base station (BS). Additionally, BS fails to estimate the distances and velocities of multiple targets in coherent signals. To address these problems, we propose a pilot design scheme with coprime and periodic stepping values for pilot indices. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed pilot signal does not reduce the maximum unambiguous range and velocity, which can be processed by the smoothing algorithm and the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm to accurately estimate the distances and velocities of multiple targets in coherent signals.

Sleep spindles play an important role in assessing sleep ***,many researches also indicated some differences in spindle characteristics for different neurological ***,it is a tough task to detect sleep spindles because of the unclear definition of sleep spindle *** detection is usually done through visual inspection of electroencephalogram(EEG) signals by experts,which has the weaknesses of time-consuming and great *** paper proposes a novel sleep spindle detection algorithm,in which we use wavelet transform(WT) to extract the spectrum information of EEG in range from 8 to 25 *** function is used to normalize the power spectrum and preserve the significant spectrum *** probability of having a spindle at a given sample is calculated by summing the power spectrum of frequency corresponding to spindle *** using a smoothing algorithm on the probabilities,we apply Support Vector Machine(SVM) in order to obtain the threshold of probability of spindle *** results of experiment on the public DREAMS sleep spindle database demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, an estimation of model parameters is performed by using the Alternative Regression (AR) approach on an experimental data set of Herpes Simplex Virus type-1 (HSV-1) infection with innate immune response. Throughout the specified course of time, the measurements of monocytes, neutrophils, and viral load were obtained from the corneas of infected mice. C57BL/6 (B6) mice were used at Oakland University, Department of Biological Sciences, and the outcome measurements were divided into training and testing data sets. The HSV-1 nonlinear dynamic model is proposed based on the observed data patterns and biological system information. The simulation results of the proposed model showed that they consistently fit the experimental data set. In addition, the sensitivity test and model validation diagnostics are considered to determine the most significant key parameters that affect the dynamics of the HSV-1 system. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

This paper deals with the optimization of routes generated by the Cooperative Aerial Reconnaissance (CAR) model. This high-level model plans the optimal routes for a fleet of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in order to carry out the reconnaissance operation in the area of interest. The route for each UAS is composed of a number of waypoints to be visited in the correct order. This paper further enhances the routes by applying the smoothing algorithm to individual routes for every aerial system in the fleet. The first part of the paper presents the fundamental parameters of the smoothing algorithm. Next, the evaluation of the approach is performed via a series of experiments. The proposed modifications have been implemented into the Tactical Decision Support System (TDSS) being developed at University of Defence in Brno to support commanders in their decision making processes.

In this paper, a methodology is proposed for multi-goal trajectory planning in welding, which is divided into effective movements and supporting movements. For effective movements, four objective functions are defined to describe the task requirements. A non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is used to get the optimum solution. For supporting movements, the classical algorithm RRT-Connect is adopted to find a minimum-time trajectory and a smoothing algorithm is proposed to remove the redundant vertices. A simulation is presented to show that the proposed algorithms are effective and an experiment is conducted to illustrate that the trajectories meet the welding requirements.
