Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) sensor play a vital role in the fields like environment perception for an autonomous vehicle, surveying and many other fields. LiDAR emits an enormous amount of data, which is difficult to transmit over a wireless medium. The need for LiDAR data transmission arises specifically in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and surveying. It is advantageous to transmit LiDAR (mounted on a car) data over a wireless medium and receive the same by another vehicle or Road Side Units (RSUs) or control stations of a tesbed setup. Similarly, visualizing LiDAR data remotely while data acquisition by LiDAR mounted on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) could simplify the process of surveying. This paper presents a client-server-based LiDAR data streaming system using socket programming. In this system, the server transmits LiDAR point-cloud percept data, and the client captures and visualizes the streaming data over a WiFi medium. The server and the client are both equipped with the Robot Operating System(ROS). An extensive analysis of data transfer on two popular protocols, TCP and UDP, has also been presented. The data transmission and reception on ROS platform was successfully performed with a tolerable latency.

With the development of cooperative robotic applications, variable kinds of communication method between robots are applied. The quality of communication has directly affect to the movement of each mobile robot in system. This paper proposes an approach to control the communication between 3 mobile robots by using wireless communication. In this paper, we focus on three main parts. In the first part, the brief introduction about multi-mobile robot system and communication will be discussed. The next part is about detail information of hardware specialization and kinematics module. Finally, the third part will describe the architecture of communication system based on Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP) algorithm for server - client, which is developed by socket programming, and also the approach to control the signal flow of the system which consisted of 3 mobile robots.

Sensor network, which is actually a collection of spatially separated sensor nodes, forms an integral part of smart city applications. The sensors used in the network must be interconnected with each other and must possess communication and data processing capabilities. Thus every layer of the city is being impacted. The data received from the sensors must be stored in the database and analyzed for different applications. The applications include traffic congestion management, fire detection, healthcare application and so on. This led to the evolution of sensor database system. In this paper, the interfacing of sensor using different communication technology such as serial communication, Ethernet communication etc. is being discussed. A client-server model is developed in case of Ethernet communication through socket programming done in python. The data obtained from the sensor is stored in the MySQL database through the python script running in the personal computer (PC). Finally, the data obtained from the sensors is analyzed for a fire detection application process. The sensors used for this purpose are DHT11 sensor and MQ2 gas sensor.

On one hand, web services have demonstrated their important roles in the field of computing. On the other, networked games need server support, which is usually based on socket programming For example, in a two player take-turn game using TCP protocol, a server communicates and coordinates the two game GUIs utilized by the two players. This gives rise to one important research question, "Can the server take the advantages of web services in order to replace the sockets while supporting networked games?" This article describes some technical aspects for accomplishing this goal.

This paper puts forward a multi-Agent alliance control model that is made up of the series robot Agent, the parallel moving platform Agent and the polishing tool system Agent and so on by the MAS theory. Based on the multi-robot system which is made up of the MOTOMAN - HP3 serial robot and NPT800 parallel robot, the MOTOMAN-HP3 serial robot communication, the NPT800 parallel robot of motion control and communication between two robots are introduced respectively. In the end, the mutual communication can be accomplished by two robots and the robot position and status information can be transported with programming of the win socket. The satisfied polishing effect on the curved surfaces can be obtained and the demand of the polishing can be achieved by the MAS.

An automatic remote water measurement system was developed. This system sends automatic remote measured and collected water meters data automatically from the transmitter with CDMA modem through SK-Telecom network. The water meter data are received through LAN TCP/IP and displayed as test file on Internet browser. The existing water meters of mechanical type have so many problems to measure data. The person must visit the location of each water meters and write down the data records manually. In this system the RF module has attached each water meter. Client/Server programs are developed by network socket programming.

In the late millennium, biomedical revolution had stormed the world with amazing discoveries;including new ways to detect diseases, more effective ways of preventions, and more efficient ways of treating diseases. As such, there has been an increasing need to develop electronically based clinical information system (CIS) for medical diagnosis and treatment. Today, with the rapid development in the computer technology, international standards and broadband telecommunication networks, it is possible to have this clinical information on demand. This paper is an attempt where we utilize technology frontier to transmit real-time medical information to improve medical quality of service (QoS). A Linux based wireless mobile ad-hoc network test bed, MANET, is created. A Smart Electronic Stethoscope (SES) system, which consists of a low cost electronic stethoscope, a multimedia personal computer, and a set of multimedia speakers, is designed and embedded inside the network. The system allows real-time digital recording of body acoustic, specifically the heartbeat, into a standard audio data file. It is also able to perform real-time plot of heartbeat pattern, store, do playback and amplify the recorded heart sound at unlimited track length. socket programming is used to establish the connection between computers, enable real-time video streaming and remote control across the network. The successful transmission of real-time plot of heartbeat pattern over MANET shows its suitability for indoor use, i.e. in a hospital building, and enhances the mobility of CIS.

The spreading use of wireless internet and smartphone accelerates the growth of location-based service and mobile-cloud computing. With the explosive growth of Iphone and Android smartphones, there are increasing demands and requests for application developers to support both smart platforms, simultaneously. Thus, we develop HTML5 based acquisition tax analysis application which is exchangably executable for Android, Iphone, Linux, and Windows. In this paper, we design and implement a HTML5 based application which is able to check whether the tax payer take the advantage of pay capital gain tax relief or not. In addition, this mobile application is convenient to access tax information during real-estate trading registration. It is quite useful for person who has to visit several sites for a day. We show the architecture and implementation detail of the application in the experimental results section.

SMARTLAM is a European funded research project, intended to develop a modular manufacturing platform and capability database, for three-dimensional integration/manufacturing of component parts constructed from laminated polymer films. To enable communication/interaction between SMARTLAM integrated manufacturing modules and the capability database, a software toolkit has to be developed, which must comply with the modularity concept of the SMARTLAM manufacturing system, and with the capability to integrate changes in the manufacturing platform, e.g. adding a new manufacturing module. This paper presents the implementation of the SMARTLAM software toolkit, i.e. the software and graphical user interface designed and developed to conform to these requirements, which allows for automated process chain selection while enabling the operator to load and modify the selected process chains and to alter parameters' values. The developed software toolkit was tested and it was found able to compile and execute complete manufacturing recipes with the given equipment and it was directly linked to the SMARTLAM database. In addition to its ability to exchange data between different manufacturing modules, it gives the users the opportunity to modify the manufacturing processes in real time. The main result of the overall software development is a fully functional and a commercially applicable solution for the design, planning, configuration and coordination of a modular manufacturing platform for micro-devices with minimum cost/time of the identified process chain. As a validation example, a flexible lighting device demonstrator (DLED) was manufactured using the SMARTLAM platform, and the software toolkit was successfully utilized to visualize and select the appropriate production process chain.

An open source private cloud architecture environment is described that supports tablet-class computer devices as clients. The cloud architecture employs a Metadata server, Data servers, and Compute servers. The private cloud clients are treated as a limited resource device: limited in memory, view space and computing power. The client tablet makes requests to the Metadata server that maintains a dictionary of category specific information and services that reside on registered Data and Computeservers. The software architecture is a Java based Web server. In addition, support for interactive user apps are introduced by deploying a paired producer/consumer used to coordinating the data transfer between the client and server machines. The software architecture has been tested and the source is available for public access.
