In process industry, operator training simulators (OTS) are becoming widely used. With the help of these systems, plant operating staff can be trained for understanding the dynamic behavior of the process, standardizing the operation skills and, more importantly, avoiding catastrophic accidents caused by human errors. Most of the current OTS are developed using commercial process simulation software, which is troublesome to maintain and modify. In this work, a novel type OTS framework is proposed. Within this framework, virtual distributed control system (DCS) is used to reflect the form of physical DCS, and multi model fusion algorithm based on linear parameter varying (LPV) identification model is used to represent the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the process. The actual process data is used to verily the accuracy of the training model. Finally, an OTS is designed based on the framework for complex load change operation of air separation process. Implementation results show the practicality of the method.

This paper presents the solution of the boundary differential equation of parabolic type using numerical methods. The block diagram of the calculation algorithm and the developed software can be used in the analysis and forecasting of filtration processes in oil fields. The numerical results obtained are presented graphically in a visual form and compared with the exact solutions.

Recently, researchers in Machine Learning algorithms, Computer Vision scientists, engineers and others, showed a growing interest in 3D simulators as a mean to artificially create experimental settings that are very close to those in the real world. However, most of the existing platforms to interface algorithms with 3D environments are often designed to setup navigation-related experiments, to study physical interactions, or to handle ad-hoc cases that are not thought to be customized, sometimes lacking a strong photorealistic appearance and an easy-to-use software interface. In this paper, we present a novel platform, SAILenv, that is specifically designed to be simple and customizable, and that allows researchers to experiment visual recognition in virtual 3D scenes. A few lines of code are needed to interface every algorithm with the virtual world, and non-3D-graphics experts can easily customize the 3D environment itself, exploiting a collection of photorealistic objects. Our framework yields pixel-level semantic and instance labeling, depth, and, to the best of our knowledge, it is the only one that provides motion-related information directly inherited from the 3D engine. The client-server communication operates at a low level, avoiding the overhead of HTTP-based data exchanges. We perform experiments using a state-of-the-art object detector trained on real-world images, showing that it is able to recognize the photorealistic 3D objects of our environment. The computational burden of the optical flow compares favourably with the estimation performed using modern GPU-based convolutional networks or more classic implementations. We believe that the scientific community will benefit from the easiness and high-quality of our framework to evaluate newly proposed algorithms in their own customized realistic conditions.

This paper presents a quadrotor visual navigation system under the GPS spoofing attack. We use HACKRF to send spoofing signals to the quadrotor. The quadrotor is detected during the outer loop of the system. If the quadrotor is spoofed, the quadrotor switch to visual navigation instead of using GPS signals. In the visual navigation, the image matching technology is used to solve the actual position of the quadrotor for the positioning problem of the quadrotor. A method of information fusion based on reference map matching and motion estimation is proposed for positioning and navigation. We can extraction keypoints, get the image descriptor based on ORB algorithm and binarize them with the corresponding correct geographical coordinates as a reference map. In order to improve the search matching speed, KLT keypoint tracking algorithm is used to estimate the motion information of the quadrotor, and the rough position of auxiliary search reference map is given. Simulations and experiments show the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

Image stitching describes the process of reconstruction of a high-resolution image by combining multiple images. Using a scanning electron microscope as the image source, individual images will show patterns in a nm dimension, whereas the combined image may cover an area of several mm². The recovery of the physical layout of modern semiconductor products manufactured in advanced technologies nodes down to 22 nm requires a perfect stitching process with no deviation with respect to the original design data, as any stitching error will result in failures during the reconstruction of the electrical design. In addition, the recovery of the complete design requires the acquisition of all individually layers of a semiconductor device. The layers represent a 3D structure with interconnections defining error limits on the stitching error for each individual scanned image mosaic. An advanced stitching and alignment process is presented, enabling a true geometrical layout recovery in nanoscale dimensions, which is also applied to and evaluated for other use cases from biological applications.

This paper presents a methodology for strategic day-ahead planning that uses a combination of deep learning and optimization. A noise-driven recurrent neural network structure is proposed for forecasting electricity prices and local inflow to water reservoirs. The resulting forecasters generate predictions with seasonal variation without relying on long input sequences. This forecasting method is employed in a stochastic program formulation of the day-ahead problem. This results in optimal order strategies for a price-taking hydropower producer participating in the Nordic day-ahead market. Using an open-source software framework for stochastic programming, the model is implemented and distributed over multiple cores. The model is then solved in parallel using a sampling-based algorithm. Tight confidence intervals around the stochastic solution are provided, which show that the gain from adopting a stochastic approach is statistically significant.

Password security is a significant issue for any authenticating process, and different researchers in the past have proposed techniques such as hashing, salting, honeywords to make the process most secured. We provide a self-guaranteed secure program and its access methods to mitigate the risk of illegal attacks like DDoS. This method ensures the security of a program by giving method level security that bolsters the further implemented security measures. A step-up approach is implementing the access security measures that protect against SQL injection and script attacks. Lucubration of various papers suggests that most systems are compromised at the storage of login credentials. Our solution ensures the security of such measures by obscurity. By using multiple layers of additional security procedures before storing the data decreases the risk of break-in exponentially. Our attempt to securely store passwords includes salting the passwords, encrypting them, and finally hashing them so that no patterns are visible. This paper presents a new method that involves SQLi prevention, encrypting, salting and then hashing the password. The SALT is generated dynamically using two parameters, one of which is unique, and the Salt is not stored in the database.

This paper proposes an architecture for the control of the microgrid using IoT connectivity. The control aims at connecting or disconnecting the residential houses to the main-grid based on the power generated by the distributed energy resources. The architecture has been verified using Proteus software, modeled, and simulated using Matlab/Simulink package. The results show that the control algorithm connects the highest load to the grid in a switching time of less than one second.

In order to avoid problems such as empty travel in 3D printing path planning, which will affect printing time and quality, this paper proposes a solution based on The Chinese postman problem in graph theory to optimize printing head moving path planning. Each slice of the lightweight filling model was regarded as a graph. After preprocessing, the Euler path was constructed by deleting edges and adding edges. Hierholzer algorithm was used to find the Euler path in the graph, and finally the global continuous printing path of each slice was obtained. Compared with the existing commercial slicing software Slic3r and Cura, the printing path of the model filled with lightweight structure is planned, and the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified. The algorithm effectively reduces the start-stop action of the printing head, saves the printing consumables and improves the printing efficiency.

Model-based testing is a structured method to test complex systems. Scaling up model-based testing to large systems requires improving the efficiency of various steps involved in testcase generation and more importantly, in test-execution. One of the most costly steps of model-based testing is to bring the system to a known state, best achieved through synchronising sequences. A synchronising sequence is an input sequence that brings a given system to a predetermined state regardless of system’s initial state. Depending on the structure, the system might be complete, i.e., all inputs are applicable at every state of the system. However, some systems are partial and in this case not all inputs are usable at every state. Derivation of synchronising sequences from complete or partial systems is a challenging task. In this paper, we introduce a novel Q-learning algorithm that can derive synchronising sequences from systems with complete or partial structures. The proposed algorithm is faster and can process larger systems than the fastest sequential algorithm that derives synchronising sequences from complete systems. Moreover, the proposed method is also faster and can process larger systems than the most recent massively parallel algorithm that derives synchronising sequences from partial systems. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm generates shorter synchronising sequences.
