Sleep Apnea is a serious sleep disorder that causes pauses in breathing during sleep. Breathing pauses can last from 10 seconds to several minutes and occur at least five times per hour. Sleep apnea may be diagnosed and monitored by In-Lab sleep study that requires the patient to stay overnight at the hospital. Even though an In-Lab polysomnography is very effective, it is highly costly. This paper presents a design to a user-friendly system that detects and monitors sleep apnea at home with a low cost. The device uses a nasal temperature sensor that senses the change in breathing to detect sleep apnea events. In case of a severe apnea event, the device can wake the patient up and send an SMS to an authorized person. Users can visualize the results of their sleep study using a mobile application. The application allows the user to send the recorded data to the doctor or the sleep center.

The topic of Non-Wires Alternatives has recently gained a lot of attention in the literature and industry alike. One of the Distributed Energy Resource (DER) types most commonly examined as an alternative solution to feeder issues is Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). BESS has been investigated as a solution, amongst others, to thermal capacity deferral and PV integration problems for both the transmission and distribution sides of the grid. In this paper, we focus on distribution applications of storage and showcase efficient planning-level algorithms to utilize storage against two types of distribution feeder capacity shortages: (i) substation capacity deferral and (ii) voltage magnitude control. The proposed planning methods and algorithms combine computational efficiency with high granularity in time and location. We use generic distribution tree feeder topologies and loading data and hourly shapes to demonstrate our results. We also show how these methods fit in and expand traditional distribution planning and the benefits they can provide given the current status of distribution networks, DER and renewable penetration.

Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT) requires that participating coils and circuitry respond to change in receiver location. This change directly affects the mutual inductance between the coils. In turn, the amount of power transmitted is directly affected. To maintain desired level of power transmission, it is imperative to estimate the mutual inductance and implement a maximum power point tracking scheme. Eliminating the need for communication between transmitter and receiver would reduce the overall response time of the system. In this paper, a neural network-based mutual inductance estimation scheme is presented. Location data of receiver is detected by transmitter and used to estimate the mutual inductance. The estimated value is subsequently utilized to drive the circuit to maximum power point. To do this, two optimization algorithms, Jaya and Crow search, are employed. Results are verified using LTSpice simulation software. In order to implement the presented algorithm in hardware, further optimization of algorithm hyper-parameters still needs to be carried out.

The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is one of the most widely used computation kernels. Its performance is highly sensitive to the efficiency of its memory operations. In particular, when the FFT is applied on large problem sizes, the overall performance becomes almost totally memory bound. In those cases, the impact of the algorithm’s computational operations is demoted to minimal. This is probably why existing efforts on optimizing large size FFTs have been focused on optimizing the memory operation efficiency. The widely adopted approach in that regard is to adapt parameters external to the FFT algorithm, such as data layout, system software memory management, etc., to the needs of FFT’s memory operation *** this paper, we look into the FFT internals for a way to mitigate FFT’s memory "boundness". The low efficiency of FFT’s memory operation, to a large degree, is incurred by the many strided data shuffles intrinsic to the algorithm, and made worse by the fact that many of those stride sizes are power-of-two. The strided data shuffling is already one of the hard workload patterns for memory system, and the power-of-two stride sizes make such a memory access pattern even more challenging. This power-of-two strided memory access pattern is the key problem that our paper addresses and represents our main contribution. Our key idea is a complete separation of the logic indexes and the physical indexes of the data internally accessed in FFT. By maintaining an efficient mapping between the logic indexes and the physical indexes through all passes, almost any stride sizes can be used and be further tuned. As the result, FFTs can be correctly carried out without the need for most of those worst power-of-two data shuffles. This greatly improves memory performance and in turn raises the overall performance. We compare our Shuffle-Light FFT (SLFFT) library with FFTW, a very widely used FFT library, and achieve the average speedup on 24.7% on problems sizes from 2 6 to

With rapidly developing of computer technologies, English translation based on artificial intelligence has gradually become one of the research directions. Limited to the factors of algorithms as well as matching degree, some problems still bottleneck English translation. To develop an intelligent system for English translation, the author proposed a computer intelligent proofreading model and further developed it. The system can directly integrate additional annotations with input text at the word level, including language markers or automatically generated word classes. Experiments on English translation show that this proofreading model has good performance in automatic scoring and more grammatical coherence. Finally, the author discussed the technological design of this proofreading system from the aspects of hardware and software.

Indoor Positioning System (IPS) can determine someone’s position inside a building. The common method used is implemented by Wi-Fi signal strength analyzing because WLAN/IEEE 802.11 is almost available anywhere and can be easily integrated with a smartphone. However, Wi-Fi access for indoor localization has problems in signal transmission. It is difficult to determine the presence of user indoor location due to the constantly changing Wi-Fi access point signal. In this study, measured signal strength (Receive Signal Strength/RSS) data from several different access points (Aps) in level 1 and 6 of Nusa Putra University. RSS recorded by Wi-Fi netgear and data processing is done using Google Colab. The training data and testing data are processed using the machine learning techniques such as k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Decision Tree and SVM models. The implementation of results with the WLAN method are expected to improve the accuracy values for indoor user locations. k-NN with k=3 has the optimum accuracy (93%) and the smallest error rate (0.15) while SVM has the smallest accuracy (60%) and the largest error rate (0.8).

Mutation testing is a fault-based testing technique that is used to evaluate the quality of a given set of test cases by inserting a single change into the program under test and then checking whether tests are good enough to detect the artificial injected defects or not. The objective of mutation testing is not testing the actual program rather it is focusing on measuring the effectiveness of test cases by using muted code to check whether the test suite is capable to identify the real fault. This paper summarizes and analyzes the current knowledge about higher-order mutants through a systematic literature review. This Systematic Literature Review analyzes the results of more than one hundred articles in the area of generating higher order mutant. The article presents qualitative results for the surveyed articles. In addition, it augments these results with scientific findings and quantitative results from the primary literature. As a result of this work, this SLR presents an outline for many future works.

The article deals with the development of information systems (or their components) for energy, in particular, for solving problems of resource optimization. It is shown that such problems can arise at the stage of energy production, for example, from biofuel, during routing by transport. The article presents the formulation of the transport routing problem, the proposed methods for its solution and practical software implementation. Capacity of vehicles, time windows and predicted demand are taken into account when building a model for the transport routing problem. Solving the problem will reduce the cost of transportation and storage of resources.

The power electronics converter control and its applications with hardware and software co-design partitioned approach lead to create electronics system on a single chip. A hardware prototype of a power electronics converter designed with high frequency and high voltage switches is the complex task of an electronic engineer. The partitioning of hardware and software synthesis by using advanced single chip fabrication techonology and realtime simulator is presented in the article. The real time simulator OPAL-RT is used for the co-design model with the Simulink for pulse generation and control of the converter with the feedback signal in the simulation platform.

The overall design of metamaterials are highly experience-dependent and time consuming, and meanwhile provide many degree of freedom in parameter configurations. Intelligent algorithms in the design and optimization of metamaterial are much more efficient than manual design when the massive trial and error are inevitable. In recent years, the bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm has attracted much attention because of its good performance on expensive electromagnetic simulation problems. Since BO is limit to continuous problems, we propose the compression mapping method to transform the discrete problem into a continuous problem and successfully apply the BO to the design of the topological structure of the metamaterial unit. We design a double-layer structure topology configuration frequency selection surface (FSS) to verify the effectiveness of the proposed-method. Compared with some other intelligent algorithms, such as heuristic algorithm and neural network algorithm, BO aims to obtain a better result through less electromagnetic simulation times, which greatly shortens the time cost. Consequently, for the application of intelligent algorithms to design metamaterials, we provide a new idea and method to find an metamaterial structure in a relatively short period of time.
