Comet assay or single-cell gel electrophoresis is a widely used method for DNA damage assessment. The results of the method can be scored under microscopic examination either with the naked eye or automated systems. In this study, we present a semi-automatic comet assay analysis tool that was developed in our laboratory. The results obtained with our tool were compared with that of fully automatic shareware software. The preliminary results suggest that the presented semi-automatic software is an accurate and reliable tool for evaluation of comet assay.

As a new generation of clean energy, hydrogen fuel cells have been used in the marine industry, and their safety monitoring is an important measure to ensure the safe operation of ships. The system uses multiple sensors to determine the current operating status through real-time information fusion, and uses pulse width to regulate the flow rate of the inlet valve to achieve safe control of the hydrogen fuel and maximise its output power. The article analyses the composition of the control system, the sensor system and its working principle, and uses an STM32-based microprocessor to design the safety control hardware and give the implementation flow of its software algorithm. The test results show that the system is capable of monitoring the safety of the marine hydrogen fuel cell under operating conditions and can cut off the inlet valve in case of emergency to achieve the safety control function.

In recent years, Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have become common in the embedded domain for a wide variety of tasks. However, due to strict area and energy requirements, dedicated accelerators for these networks are necessary. Different architectures to fulfill this role are available, but an accelerator targeting the ultra-low area design point is still missing. In this work, we present an architecture focusing on minimizing resource utilization and energy requirements. We propose a small-scale vector processor that can be integrated into a RISC-V core. Unlike traditional, feature-rich vector instruction sets, we instead determine the most crucial instructions for DNN workloads through hardware-software co-design. To evaluate our implementation, we integrate our vector extension into an open-source RISC-V System-on-Chip, the NeoRV32, and measure the hardware overhead and achieved acceleration of operations commonly found in neural networks. Our results show an acceleration of up to 11.9x on convolutional workloads over the baseline architecture, while we demonstrate that our implementation introduces significantly less hardware overhead than previous works. The detection of tablet backplane accessories is one of the important links in whether the tablet computer can be qualified to enter the market. The traditional inspection link usually uses artificial visual inspection, which has problems such as low efficiency and error rate increasing with workers' working time. Therefore, this paper proposes a system based on machine vision and industrial control computer, which studies and applies the vision algorithms. The system acquires pictures by a specific camera, perform two extraction of template area center points on the tablet backplane on the pipeline and the affine transformation to get the accurate location. The film detection algorithm is used for the film in the system. The nut adopts the nut detection algorithm. Foam uses statistical methods based on describing textures. After verification in 300 samples provided by the factory, the results show that the average detection time is 49.37 milliseconds, and the accuracy rate is 97%.

Given recent algorithm, software, and hardware innovation, computing has enabled a plethora of new applications. As computing becomes increasingly ubiquitous, however, so does its environmental impact. This paper brings the issue to the attention of computer-systems researchers. Our analysis, built on industry-reported characterization, quantifies the environmental effects of computing in terms of carbon emissions. Broadly, carbon emissions have two sources: operational energy consumption, and hardware manufacturing and infrastructure. Although carbon emissions from the former are decreasing thanks to algorithmic, software, and hardware innovations that boost performance and power efficiency, the overall carbon footprint of computer systems continues to grow. This work quantifies the carbon output of computer systems to show that most emissions related to modern mobile and data-center equipment come from hardware manufacturing and infrastructure. We therefore outline future directions for minimizing the environmental impact of computing systems.

We presented a network analyzer sharing system that allows multiple user to access a single vector network analyzer. The system consists of hardware that is switching module to extend two-port VNA into multiple ports and software that distributes measurement signals eight port. The hardware uses SP4T switches to simplify the system. The software uses an automatic channel switching time setting algorithm to prevent signal distortion or abnormal signals. To validate this system, we conducted an experiment measuring a device under test. Experimental results validate the measurement performance of the sharing system.

In this study, base-2 computer arithmetic procedures are developed for the analyzing of fast division algorithms; Non- Restoring Division, SRT division and Division by Multiplication algorithms. For this purpose, those algorithms have been developed in MATLAB software simulation platform to compare the performance of the three division method. Depending on the number of bits used in simulation, memory space (A), the number of transactions (I) and the algorithms executed by the CPU processing time (T) criteria were used in the analyzing. As a result of our comparisons, division by multiplication algorithm had achieved better in those three criterias.

Pedestrian safety is currently one of the most popular and significant issues in the field of traffic safety. The GPS positioning error is recognized as one of the toughest obstacles to improve the current pedestrian collision warning and avoidance system. In this paper, a reliable collision warning system aimed at vulnerable road users is proposed, to detect the risk of traffic collisions and send the necessary warnings ahead of collisions happening. What's more, we also manage to reduce the GPS positioning error in the case of location acquisition with the help of the Kalman filter, which further increases the accuracy of the predicted outputs and warning messages. Finally, we conduct a few simulation tests, the results of which turn out to sufficiently verify the reliability of our system.

This paper defined a kind of multi-dimension data cube model, and presented a new formalization of generalized association rule based on data cube model. After comprehending the weaknesses of the current generalized association rule mining algorithms based on data cube, we proposed a new algorithm GenHibFreq which was suitable for mining multi-level frequent item set based on data cube. By taking advantage of the item taxonomy, algorithm GenHibFreq reduced the number of candidate itemsets counted, and had better efficiency. We also designed an algorithm GenerateLHSs-Rule for generating generalized association rule from multi-level frequent item set. Demonstrated through examples, algorithms proposed in this paper had better efficiency and less generated redundant rules than several existing mining algorithms, such as Cumulate, Stratify and ML_T2L1, and had good performance inflexibility, scalability and complexity and had new ideas on conducting the generalized association rule mining algorithms in multi-dimension environment and it also has great theoretical meaning and practical value.
