We analyze the version history of 7 software systems to predict the most fault prone entities and files. The basic assumption is that faults do not occur in isolation, but rather in bursts of several related faults. Therefore, we cache locations that are likely to have faults: starting from the location of a known (fixed) fault, we cache the location itself, any locations changed together with the fault, recently added locations, and recently changed locations. By consulting the cache at the moment a fault is fixed, a developer can detect likely fault-prone locations. This is useful for prioritizing verification and validation resources on the most fault prone files or entities. In our evaluation of seven open source projects with more than 200,000 revisions, the cache selects 10% of the source code files; these files account for 73%-95% of faults - a significant advance beyond the state of the art.

Live migration of OS instance, a powerful instrument to facilitate system maintenance, load balancing, fault tolerance, has become the central issue of virtualization, while the memory Migration has always been the bottleneck. However, exiting algorithms suffer two problems. First, when facing those frequently modified pages, the performance would degrade profoundly. Second, though they do perform more preferable through some certain algorithms, the accessional resources are requisite, which might extraordinary scarce under heavy load conditions. These imperfections will lead to striking performance degradation of virtual machine services. Therefore, based on the “Program Locality Principle”, this paper presents the “matrix bitmap algorithm” that collects the dirty page information for many times before deciding whether to transfer the page or not. It provides a more reasonable approach to obtain the determination. Experiments demonstrate that when under heavy load conditions, if sufficient dirty page information is collected, the decrease in total migration time will achieve 50% without increasing the system burden of the original domain.

Self-driving technology is expected to revolutionize different sectors and is seen as the natural evolution of road vehicles. In the last years, real-world validation of designed and virtually tested solutions is growing in importance since simulated environments will never fully replicate all the aspects that can affect results in the real world. To this end, this paper presents our prototype platform for experimental research on connected and autonomous driving projects. In detail, the paper presents the overall architecture of the vehicle focusing both on mechanical aspects related to remote actuation and sensors set-up and software aspects by means of a comprehensive description of the main algorithms required for autonomous driving as ego-localization, environment perception, motion planning, and actuation. Finally, experimental tests conducted in an urban-like environment are reported to validate and assess the performances of the overall system.

Computer interlocking system is a safety-critical system. Aiming at the problems of insufficient testing, low efficiency, strong subjectivity, and poor comprehensibility in the current functional testing of computer interlocking systems using manual testing and automatic testing. A design scheme of a simulation test platform based on deep learning for automated testing of interlocking system functions is proposed. By analyzing the system structure of the interlock system and the process of manual and automatic testing, the design idea and implementation method of the simulation test platform are determined, and the automatic testing target of the interlock function is finally realized, thus achieving the goal of complete and efficient safety testing.

Modern power systems must develop a suitable protection mechanism, in order to deal with the technical challenges associated with the integration of distributed generation (DG) into microgrid systems. Specifically, it was noticed that for inverter-dominated microgrid, when operates in autonomous mode, fault current exhibits very low magnitude due to inverter control and their low electromagnetic inertia, which makes the traditional protection techniques vulnerable. While addressing the aforementioned issues, a straightforward and fast protection method based on Empirical Wavelet Transform (EWT) and Fano equality ratio test-based statistical measurement is proposed in this article. To investigate the performance of the proposed scheme, a 14-bus looped microgrid test system containing PV and battery energy storage system is considered. Primarily, using EWT the multiresolution coefficient of fault current signals at both ends of the line is estimated, and then by implementing Fano equality ratio test the adequate threshold setting is set for the identification of fault. The modelling and simulation of the test microgrid system are carried out in PSCAD-EMTDC software, and the fault detection algorithm is formulated and executed in MATLAB R2022(a) which uses data obtained in PSCAD.

By using small-sized, next-generation NVRAM (such as MRAM, FeRAM and PRAM) as a write buffer, we can improve the overall performance of the NAND flash memory-based storage systems. However, traditional address mapping algorithms in Flash Translation Layer (FTL) software were designed without any consideration of the existence of write buffer. In this paper, we propose a novel write buffer-aware flash translation layer algorithm, optimistic FTL, which is designed to harmonize well with NVRAM write buffers. Simulation results show that the proposed optimistic FTL outperforms previous log block-based FTL algorithms.

Instruction scheduling methods based on the construction of state diagrams (or automata) have been used for architectures involving deeply pipelined function units. However, the size of the state diagram is prohibitively large, resulting in high execution time and space requirement. We present a simple method for reducing the size of the state diagram by recognizing unique paths of a state diagram. Our experiments show that the number of paths in the reduced state diagram is significantly lower-by 1 to 3 orders of magnitude-compared to the number of paths in the original state diagram. Using the reduced MS-state diagrams, we develop an efficient software pipelining method. The proposed software pipelining algorithm produced efficient schedules and performed better than R.A. Huff's (1993) Slack Scheduling method, and the original Co-scheduling method, in terms of both the initiation interval (II) and the time taken to construct the schedule.

The DC solenoid electromagnet can change its own displacement through the change of the magnetic field and then perform the corresponding action, and is widely used in underwater equipment. The electromagnetic force of the electromagnet in the working range is its important performance, but due to the nonlinear characteristics of the magnetic field, there is no unified and effective optimization design method. Aiming at this problem, this paper proposes an electromagnet optimization algorithm based on ant colony optimization algorithm (ACO) and simulates it based on ANSOFT software. The simulation results show that, compared with the conventional design method, this method can effectively improve the suction force of the electromagnet.

We introduce a new fully automated method for segmenting and characterizing the dendritic tree of neurons in confocal image stacks. Our method is aimed at wide-field-of-view, low-resolution imagery of retinal neurons in which dendrites can be intertwined and difficult to follow. The approach is based on 3-D skeletonization and includes a method for automatically determining an appropriate global threshold as well as a soma detection algorithm. We provide the details of the algorithm and a qualitative performance comparison against a commercially available neurite tracing software package, showing that a segmentation produced by our method more closely matches the ground-truth segmentation.
