A key technical challenge to make multiple robots work together is software development how to specify the mission at the user level and how to program each robot separately. In this paper, we propose a novel software development framework in which a mission is specified with a novel scripting language and the individual robot behavior with an extended dataflow model at the task level. How to relate these two specifications and how to generate the robot code automatically are also addressed in the proposed framework. The viability of the proposed methodology is validated with a preliminary experiment.

Throughout the automotive industry, the direction of projects being developed using Agile methodologies is growing while the demand from the original equipment manufacturers to follow quality standards such as automotive SPICE is also growing and becoming a normal quality requirement for all the automotive suppliers to achieve. In this research, we provide an approach that focuses on the implementation of different Agile methodologies while following ASPICE. We analyzed ASPICE's VDA scope process areas for capability level 1 and mapped them to Agile methodologies such as scrum and extreme programming. This detailed mapping resulted in a step-by-step framework and guideline on how to follow ASPICE while performing the Agile ceremonies and activities.

Comment sections of news articles are a popular way to discuss the contents of these articles. But the number of comments posted every day has become so large that almost no one can get a solid overview about the discussion. To address this problem, there are many approaches for comment recommendation systems. However, they tend to focus mostly on the development of sophisticated models to combat this problem while evaluating their systems in limited and mostly artificial settings. In our paper, we introduce a modular open-source software framework for the development of comment recommendation prototypes that can be used to evaluate models in real-world environments. The modularity allows developing systems that are adapted exactly to the use-case or model one needs. This concept allows exchanging and adapting the different components of the concept to test e.g. different user-interfaces or recommendation models. To show the usability of our framework we present the implementations of two comment-recommendation applications.

In the near future, it will be common that a variety of robots are cooperating to perform a mission in various fields. A key technical challenge to realize this vision is software challenge on how to specify the mission at the user level and how to program each robot separately. In this paper, we propose a novel software development framework that separates mission specification and robot behavior programming. For mission specification, a novel scripting language is proposed with the expression capability of dynamic mode change and multitasking. For robot behavior programming, an extended dataflow model is used for task-level behavior specification that does not depend on the robot hardware platform. In the proposed framework, the actual robot software is automatically generated from the model. The viability of the proposed framework is demonstrated with two real-life experiments.

We are reporting on our experience in building and deploying OWL ontologies from within a newly introduced PSU ontology repository (POR) into a number of application software. These ontologies are also exposed to public outsiders to edit and extend (Open) and allow access to similar Internet ontologies using public ontology search engines such as SWOOGLE and IBM WATSON. This environment is mainly used to empower software application developers with semantics (analogues to Semantic Web) to limit development complexity, provide knowledge management, and organize software project information. OWL ontologies are machine readable;they can be incorporated into the software application development as accessible knowledge base shared resources which parts of the software can access as needed knowledge units via regular protege programming interfaces: Script Tab, and Java API. These shared resources reduce development complexity, and promote re-use through linking similar and cross domains ontologies. We have been using and testing them within software applications to model certain artifacts (such as context and profile management, Internet of Things, sensor networks, cinema production, and risk and security management components) during the application software development life cycle. In this paper we report on our experience with each of these software applications: their artifacts ontology structure, representation and engineering, validation and verification, development and testing, and ontology querying and usage. We introduce a new framework of mixing "ontology engineering and access" with "application software development environment". This paper presents a first step into the construction of an innovative web-based eLearning platform featuring Learning Analytics and Gamification called ICT-FLAG. The main goal and key decision at this initial stage of the platform development is the search and selection processes of the most suitable software development framework to guide and support the effective construction of the platform. Despite the availability of many architecture and application frameworks for creating web-based systems in the market, only a few are potentially suitable for the specific goals of our eLearning platform. In this paper, we first review existing frameworks in terms of pros and cons considering the characteristics of the project. Then, the search's outcomes go into a selection methodology whose results are presented and discussed, leading us to make a final decision on the software framework that will eventually support an effective development of the ICT-FLAG platform. The research reported in this paper is currently undertaken within the project "Enhancing ICT education through Formative assessment, Learning Analytics and Gamification" (ICT-FLAG) funded by the Spanish Government.

This paper presents the analysis and design of an innovative web-based eLearning platform featuring Learning Analytics and Gamification called ICT-FLAG. A previous contribution presented the software development framework that will guide and support the effective construction of the platform. Following the selected framework, this paper defines the requirements of this platform and propose a solution to satisfy those requirements in terms of software artifacts. The design includes challenging non-functional requirements, such as scalability, security and performance. The research reported in this paper is currently undertaken within the project "Enhancing ICT education through Formative assessment, Learning Analytics and Gamification" (ICT-FLAG) funded by the Spanish Government.

This paper presents the implementation and prototyping of an innovative web-based eLearning platform, featuring Learning Analytics and Gamification called ICT-FLAG. A previous contribution presented the analysis and design of the platform. Following the design, this paper implements the platform and reports on the first experiences of connecting and integrating the platform with a real eLearning tool through an API. The purpose of this connection is to provide the tool with learning analytics and gamification-based services. The research reported in this paper is currently undertaken within the research project "Enhancing ICT education through Formative assessment, Learning Analytics and Gamification" (ICT-FLAG) funded by the Spanish Government.

Pervasive data sensing is a major issue that transverses various research areas and application domains. It allows identifying people's behaviour and patterns without overwhelming the monitored persons. Although there are many pervasive data sensing applications, they are typically focused on addressing specific problems in a single application domain, making them difficult to generalize or reuse. On the other hand, the platforms for supporting pervasive data sensing impose restrictions to the devices and operational environments that make them unsuitable for monitoring loosely-coupled or fully distributed work. In order to help address this challenge this paper present a framework that supports distributed pervasive data sensing in a generic way. Developers can use this framework to facilitate the implementations of their applications, thus reducing complexity and effort in such an activity. The framework was evaluated using simulations and also through an empirical test, and the obtained results indicate that it is useful to support such a sensing activity in loosely-coupled or fully distributed work scenarios.
