This research study investigates the use of the Internet of Things in the health sector in terms of minimizing hospital visit costs, optimizing human resources, and enhancing the quality of healthcare. It tackles a crucial challenge in IoT-based e-health applications: the energy efficiency of battery-powered sensors. As the number of IoT sensors being used for the transmission of medical data is growing, concerns have been raised regarding the sustainability of sensor networks, which is highly dependent on battery life. A new technique, namely ARSH-FATI-based group selection, is proposed to extend the network lifespan. The ARSH-FATI algorithm combines global and local search strategies to maximize network longevity and balance performance parameters. In the CH selection process, the algorithm considers workload, residual energy, and communication distance parameters. Simulations with Python software show that the proposed ARSH-F ATI algorithm obtained a Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) of 86%, which is almost a little lower value than that of the existing Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, which showed a PDR of 88% for a network of 400 sensor nodes. The outcomes of the proposed algorithm are promising and may provide a viable solution to improve the energy efficiency and lifespan of IoT networks in healthcare applications.

Aiming at the incentive mechanism issues in collaborative spectrum sensing and access for privacy protection in Internet of Things (IoT) crowd sensing, a multi-task winner selection mechanism based on differential privacy is proposed to address the privacy leakage in Mobile Crowd Sensing (MCS). This mechanism utilizes the exponential mechanism of differential privacy to select winners, protecting the cost privacy information of Crowd Sense Users (CSUs). Furthermore, to incentivize CSUs, a two-layer Stackelberg game algorithm is proposed. This algorithm can coordinate the compensation paid by Secondary Users (SUs) for spectrum access and the data quality reported by CSUs, thereby effectively enhancing the enthusiasm of CSUs to participate in sensing and the performance of collaborative spectrum detection. Simulation results using MATLAB software show that compared to traditional methods, the proposed algorithm increases the average user reward by $19.5 \%$.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has led to a reduction in a number of services and activities, but it has also accelerated the development of communication and connectivity technologies as well as touchless technology to reduce human interaction. When compared to the previous ten years, it has caused a significant technological shift in practically every sector of society, including the medical and healthcare industries, which has resulted in a restructuring of society. Automated systems and electronic devices have evolved globally with cutting-edge technologies that help to minimize the loss caused by the pandemic situation as digitalization will continue to expand. Various devices provide promising performance and are effective in maintaining physical distancing among the people. IoT and 5G network-based systems are the main concepts used in the current review to address the CoV-19 pandemic and its aftermath, with regard to accurate early detection and diagnosis, rapid, targeted treatment, and prevention of similar infection spread in the future. Adopting intelligent digitization will help address the pandemic scenario, which will lead to the creation of new methods and technologies to successfully eradicate any epidemic condition in future.

The aim of this research is to implement a code generator that, following the requirements-gathering phase, will have all necessary information in the appropriate format to generate program code for a user interface with integrated data validation methods. To achieve this, the research enhances an existing tool for generating graphical user interface (GUI) code by extending the specification of user requirements as the primary input artifact and introducing an additional input element—a document related to domain-specific data. The textual files generated by the code generator include implemented methods for data validation on the GUI side. This work defines the algorithm that extracts and appropriately processes the input from user requirements and domain-specific artifacts to enable the seamless functioning of the implemented code generator, which is designed to be applicable to GUI development for any software system.

This paper illustrates the design and implementation of an IOT -based automatic power factor correction (APFC) relay using Raspberry Pi in electrical power distribution systems. Power quality is crucial across numerous non-linear consumers in power distribution systems (PDS). One of the essential factors determining the power quality is the power factor. In PDS, the power factor can deteriorate due to factors such as AC motors, water pumps, welding instruments, transformers, voltage regulators, arcs & induction heaters, choke wires, neon signs, etc. Besides, all industries require consistent power quality for many applications daily. High-quality electricity improves productivity, eliminates technical issues, and lowers energy costs. A poor power factor for the PDS causes huge amounts of line losses, low voltage problems, and thermal problems in switchgear. Therefore, automatic power factor improvement plays a significant role in reducing electricity consumption and ensuring more efficient system operation. To solve this problem, in this paper, the design and simulation of a single-phase APFC with IOT utilizing a Raspberry Pi Pico (W) are described. Here, CT and PT measure current and voltage; an XOR gate measures the angle between voltage and current. A suitable algorithm is coded for the Raspberry PI to obtain the desired power factor (0.99 to 0.98), and according to IEC 61921:2017, calculated capacitor banks (04 stages) are used. Besides, IOT is interfaced through ThingSpeak to show the real-time data of an APFC relay using the internet from anywhere to monitor it properly. Furthermore, the theoretical and simulated results are validated using 1000-watt prototype inductive loads (induction motor).

This paper presents a review of Metaheuristic Optimization Techniques (MOT) which are methods currently in use for optimization in a vast range of problems. In this paper the application of Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) for strategically modifying the network structure of distribution feeders by changing the open/close status of tie open switches. The application of this technique aims to relieve equipment overloading, reduce power losses, improve reliability and voltage profile on a real distribution network in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM). An explanation of the theoretical bases upon which the algorithm is founded is provided and the relevant mathematical model on how an algorithm attempts to obtain the best solution to a problem. The results of study case considered is reported and discussed to find the most economically feasible solution. The CSA archives an average improvement of 44.75% for power loss reduction, on both High Generation High Load and High Generation Low Load scenarios, with a computation time of 37:14s.

The torque between an input and an output shaft can be transferred by magnetic gears without the need for physical contact. In certain instances, the design specifications of the entire system dictate that magnetic gears have an integer gear ratio. This leads to a higher cogging torque in the high-speed rotor (internal rotor), which results in vibration and acoustic noise. Creating an uneven air gap and skewing one of the three coaxial magnetic gear rotors are common ways to lower cogging torque. In this paper, in order to significantly reduce the cogging torque with an integer gear ratio, a coaxial magnetic gear with a skewed modulator is proposed. In addition, the proposed structure uses an internal rotor with a non-circular surface to create an unequal air gap. The proposed structure is optimized by a genetic optimization algorithm and Maxwell finite element software to simultaneously minimize the cogging torque and maximize the torque density. The results of comparing the proposed structure with the conventional spoke-type structure show a reduction of 88.3% and 5% in terms of the cogging torque and core losses, respectively.

HPG is a portable library for gridding and degridding non-uniformly distributed visibility data for synthetic aperture imaging. The library is designed for performance portability, and is implemented using the Kokkos C++ Performance Portability Ecosystem, a High Performance software Foundation project that was initially developed under the US Department of Energy's Exascale Computing Project. The HPG implementation uses portable C++, which compiles to optimized code on CPUs as well as GPUs. The library implements general purpose algorithms that can be used with any user-defined convolution kernels, and is thus applicable to most visibility-based gridding algorithms. It is currently being used by groups within the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in the implementation of A-projection, W-projection, AW-projection, full polarization, spectral line, continuum, and mosaic imaging. Performance testing at NRAO has demonstrated a speedup of up to 160x on GPUs versus CASA-based gridding on a single CPU core. Although the algorithms are inherently optimized for GPU execution, the code can be compiled, unchanged, for OpenMP or even serial CPU execution, which provides a significant benefit for code development and debugging. Hooks provided by Kokkos also support fine-grained performance profiling on all architectures, promoting ease of use during performance optimization. The library is currently undergoing an update to merge a variant that was implemented for the DSA-2000 radio camera imaging pipeline software. Early tests of the merged code promise an approximate 2x speedup versus the current version of HPG on a wide range of GPUs. This performance improvement is achieved through various algorithm refinements, including an option to use mixed precision arithmetic, which is targeted to more affordable GPUs having low double precision floating point performance. The effectiveness of overcurrent relays is essential for managing faults in power systems. As the integration of distributed generation sources increases within the power grid, the likelihood of errors in fault detection also rises. In certain situations, distributed generation can diminish fault currents, leading to delays in relay operation. This delay can damage existing equipment as faults persist in the network. Additionally, distributed generation may cause relays to malfunction, disconnecting healthy feeders instead of the ones experiencing faults. To address these challenges, this paper presents the development and modeling of an artificial intelligence algorithm designed to facilitate the integration of distributed generation into the power system without modifying the existing overcurrent relays. The algorithm also identifies optimal locations for distributed generation sources within the network. The modeling was conducted using MATLAB, and the implementation and validation of the model were performed with DigiSilent software.

For decades, corporations and governments have re-lied on scanned documents to record vast amounts of information. However, extracting this information is a slow and tedious process due to the sheer volume and complexity of these records. The rise of Vision Language Models (VLMs) presents a way to efficiently and accurately extract the information out of these documents. The current au-tomated workflow often requires a two-step approach in-volving the extraction of information using optical char-acter recognition software, and subsequent usage of large language models for processing this information. Unfor-tunately, these methods encounter significant challenges when dealing with noisy scanned documents, often requiring computationally expensive language models to handle high information density effectively. In this study, we propose PatchFinder, an algorithm that builds upon VLMs to improve information extraction. First, we devise a confidence-based score, called Patch Confi-dence, based on the Maximum Softmax Probability of the VLMs' output to measure the model's confidence in its predictions. Using this metric, PatchFinder determines a suitable patch size, partitions the input document into overlapping patches, and generates confidence-based predictions for the target information. Our experimental results show that PatchFinder, leveraging Phi-3v, a 4.2 billion parameter VLM, achieves an accuracy of 94% on our dataset of 190 noisy scanned documents, outperforming ChatGPT-4o by 18.5 percentage points.
