Several research works have argued that adaptive beamforming has the potential to realize the high spectral efficiency requirements of next-generation wireless standards, and is especially well-suited for multipath-rich environments such as indoors. Most works have been limited to theory; few works in literature address the practical benefits and realizability of adaptive beamforming. In this paper, we design and implement the first indoor WLAN beamforming system with multi-element array antennas and software radio platforms, that forms a testbed for exploration of practical benefits of beamforming, and evaluation of algorithms for efficient beamforming in diverse environments. In the process of building the system, we identify and address several challenges with practical beamforming that are often ignored in theoretical works. Most importantly, channel estimation for forming the best beam to a user is hindered by oscillator drifts on the transmitter and receiver side that introduce hard-to-isolate phase and frequency offsets from the estimated channel coefficients. We describe these issues and incorporate novel solutions in our system to address them without requiring hardware modifications. We use the system to demonstrate the realizable benefits of adaptive beamforming in a typical indoor office environment.

Research in autonomous robotics relies on simulators for two main reasons: simulators provide support for the fast prototyping of software algorithm, and they often are a "surrogate" in multi-robot systems when it is not feasible to build a whole robot team to carry out research on coordinated/cooperative behaviours. This paper describes AE-Sim, a simulator which we developed to emulate the main features of our "artificial ecosystem" approach, in which robots are thought of as mobile units within an intelligent environment where they coexist and co-operate with plenty of fixed, intelligent devices that are assigned different roles: helping the robot to localize itself, controlling automated doors and elevators, detecting emergency situations, etc

The pulse-signaling algorithm (PSA) is proposed for robotics control and communication. By PSA, an operator can send control signals directly to control a robot or a group of robots. No extra equipment is needed in PSA because pulse signals can be generated easily from the operator. Within this paper, the algorithm is considered in three aspects; communication protocol, hardware prototype, and software implementation. PSA protocol is composed of three parts; command code, operand code, and address code. In order to control the desired robot to do the desired work at the desired amount PSA prototype circuit is designed and developed and PSA software is programmed on the designed prototype circuit to realize the algorithm. Some experiments are done to test and evaluate the proposed algorithm.

At present, the civil aviation industry is developing rapidly. With the rapid growth of transportation business and the continuous expansion of domestic airport scale, the demand for location service to provide accurate positioning for passengers is increasing. Combined with the Bluetooth signal transmission characteristics in the terminal, a fusion location algorithm based on EKF is designed to improve the continuity of passenger positioning results. Combined with the dense flow of people and different paths, a map matching fusion localization algorithm based on particle filter is designed to further improve the positioning accuracy. In the development environment, the positioning software of hub airport terminal is designed and implemented. The experimental verification and result analysis of the proposed algorithm are carried out.

Despite several decades of working on software quality assurance methods, they still require further investigations. In this regard, it is of paramount importance to detect a process detecting possible software errors with minimum budget and efforts. Search-based software testing(SBST) is an approach to automated software testing and aims to find a suitable alternative to manual testing. SBST is to transform the test problem into an optimization problem and obtain better solutions by searching the problem space. Search-based testing has some disadvantages and advantages. In this paper, considering the significance of SBST in testing, the search-based test challenges were detected from the perspective of the test techniques. This study also suggests different research subjects and provides a guideline for researchers interested in SBST as such the results can be used to compare the existing test techniques, select the best one, and represent the challenges of each technique.

Focus on the problem of multi-component in-situ on-line monitoring in fermentation, in this work, we proposed an on-line in-situ multi-channel detection flow path control system based on a novel enzyme electrode prepared from Prussian Blue (PB) nanomaterials. To match the detection behavior of this electrode, an innovative design of a multi-channel pump-valve synergistic flow path control system can effectively reduce cross-contamination and improve system reliability. According to the flow path detection logic requirements, software program modules, such as precise positioning and micro-injection of pipette needle, and calibration detection during the multi-component detection process, have been developed. Precise positioning and micro-injection of pipette needle were realized by the trapezoidal acceleration and deceleration algorithm combined with a subdivision drive circuit. For the continuous change glucose concentration in fermentation, an adaptive sampling strategy of the injection volume and calibration detection module were proposed to realize multi-component, wide-range from 1g/L to 180g/L, fast and accurate detection, which presenting the as-prepared in-situ on-line system was proved to exhibits a high accuracy with a low detection error (<2%) within the linear range.

In this paper we present web service composition problem as search problem in AND/OR Service Dependency Graph (SDG). In general web services take multiple inputs and produce single output. For this reason we concentrated on Multi-input, Single output web services composition. We proposed two algorithms for finding the composition given a service request. First algorithm finds the composition by generating all the paths from input nodes to output node and merging the paths. In Second algorithm we have incorporated cost parameters for web services and algorithm finds the minimal composition for the given request. We have evaluated our algorithms experimentally and results are shown.

Features of electric energy as a commodity, due to its physical properties, determine the need to continuously maintain a balance of production and consumption. In the absence of special measures to stimulate consumers, the demand for electric energy does not depend or does not depend much on prices in the market, consumers do not reduce consumption when the price increases. Therefore, in this paper, a micro-power system model was developed using the Simscape Electrical library in the MATLAB software package, consisting of a diesel generator, a solar and wind power plant, an electric energy storage device, and a controlled load to test the automatic load control method. With the help of MATLAB Function blocks using the code of the price-dependent reduction consumption algorithm, various abnormal modes associated with climatic conditions for power supply systems and wind power plants are modeled.

De novo peptide sequencing that determines the amino acid sequence of a peptide via tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) has been increasingly used nowadays in proteomics for protein identification. Current de novo methods generally employ a graph theory which usually produces a large number of candidate sequences and causes heavy computational cost while trying to determine a sequence with less ambiguity. We present a novel de novo sequencing algorithm which greatly reduces the number of candidate sequences. By utilizing certain properties of b- and y-ion series in MS/MS spectrum, we propose a reliable two-way parallel searching algorithm to filter out the peptide candidates which are further pruned by an intensity evidence based screening criterion. And we find an adjusted value required to determine the position of end node of b- and y-ion series for the charged +2 precursor in our graph. Results of our algorithm are compared with those of PEAKS, a well-known de novo sequencing software. Experimental results demonstrate the six sequences are identical with the correct sequences. And for the further pruning, rankings of our result remain unchanged even though the screening criterion changes. Therefore we can reduce the number of candidate sequences by adopting a proper screening criterion.
