An adaptive data clustering algorithm based on ant colony (ant-cluster) is presented. Enlightened by the self-organizing behavior of ant society, we assign acceptance rates on the directed edges of a pheromone digraph in ant-cluster system. The pheromone on the edges of the digraph is adaptively updated by the ants passing it. Some edges with less pheromone are progressively removed under a list of certain thresholds in the process. Strong connected components of the final digraph are extracted as clusters. The performance of ant-cluster is compared with classical K-means clustering algorithm and ACO clustering algorithm LF in terms of clustering quality and efficiency on several real datasets and clustering benchmarks. Experimental results indicate that the ant-cluster is able to find clusters faster with better clustering quality and is easier to implement than K-means and LF.

Patients admitted for EP studies naturally compile complex data. Especially patients admitted for multiple arrhythmogenic substrates are challenging to record initially and follow up afterwards. We have developed a software tool to record clinical data including ***, pretest diagnosis, basic EP values, invasive diagnostic as well as interventional data and patient clinical and invasive follow up with an intuitive entry algorithm. Data management is done online in local area network PC-environment. Data input is done in a graphical user environment with automatic pulldown menus, choice algorithms and dialogue. Relevant choice lists comply with ACC/AHA guidelines. Within 58 months of its full operation a total of 1072 EP sessions were performed on 780 patients. Within these sessions 768 arrhythmia substrates were found With 55pts (7%) no arrhythmogenic substrate was found; 682pts (87%) had single substrate, 39pts (5%) had double substrate; 4pts (0,5%) had multiple substrates. Among secondary substrates we found 14 [32%] AFib, 6 [14%] AVNRT, 5 [11%] AFlu, 15 [35%] mono AT, 4 [9%] VT) The database is in clinical use demonstrating its advantages over conventional documentation techniques. We believe that cross reference evaluation of clinical EP-data can only be managed using specially designed easy to use computer based software, which is well structured to avoid redundant data entry.

Generating smooth surfaces of arbitrary topology is a major challenge in geometric modeling, computer graphics, and scientific visualization. Subdivision surfaces have emerged as a powerful and useful technique in modeling free-form surfaces. Recursive subdivision techniques generate visually pleasing smooth surfaces through the repeated application of a fixed set of subdivision rules. Given a control mesh, a Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surface (CCSS) is generated by iteratively refining (subdividing) the control mesh to form new control meshes. CCSS implementations do not perform well and suffer from low CPU utilization because they are often waiting for data to be transferred from memory due to the repeated pointer indirections. Rapid Evaluation of CCSS is an approach that focuses on achieving maximum performance by carefully addressing caching issues. However, this approach is designed with primary target being single core machines. In this paper, we implement the Rapid Evaluation of Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surfaces (RECCSS) algorithm in C++ and measure its achieved performance. We then redesign RECCSS to leverage the potential of parallel computation on widely available multicores machines and show that Parallelized RECCSS (PRECCSS) achieves noticeable speedup when run on diverse set of machines compared to the original RECCSS implementation. In addition, we conduct a study about the data value predictability of PRECCSS load instructions using Pin dynamic binary instrumentation tool, and conclude that 93.25% prediction accuracy can be achieved with existing value prediction techniques.

Artifacts preprocessing in EEG is remarkably significant to extract reliable neural responses in the downstream analysis. A recently emerging powerful preprocessing tool among the EEG community is Artifacts Subspace Reconstruction (ASR). ASR is an unsupervised machine learning algorithm to identify and correct the transient-like non-stationary noisy samples. ASR is fully automatic, therefore, suitable for online applications. However, the performance of ASR is strongly dependent on the user-defined hyperparameter k. A poor choice of k might lead to severe performance *** this work, we benchmark the performance of ASR against its parameter k. Toward this goal, we used the Temple University Hospital EEG Artifact Corpus (TUAR), which consists of 310 EEG files recorded in clinical settings from epileptic patients. Remarkably, these files are annotated for artifacts by trained personnel with a high inter-rater agreement score (κ > 0.8). Considering these reliable labels as ground truth, ASR has shown the best performance in artifacts cleaning with k ranging between 20 and 40.

One emerging trend in the evolution of sensor technology is to perform Artificial Intelligence (AI) based data processing already on the sensor. The benefits are in terms of reduced upstream communication load or reduced reaction times when the sensor is applied for example, in some time critical control loop. Such developments, however, may easily get in conflict with the equally important requirement of energy efficiency and low power operation. The brain inspired neuromorphic technology may resolve this conflict, if we can put all computation tasks of the sensor on neuromorphic principles, including the communication related processing as well. For this purpose, we need to rebuild the entire communication stack, including information encoding, protocols, radio algorithms on neuromorphic basis. In this paper we show a neuromorphic native design of an end-to-end sensor application and we exemplify such a communication stack with a prototype implementation, where the radio algorithm and protocol components have been replaced by neuromorphic algorithms implemented on a real neuromorphic chip combined with software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware.

This study implemented YOLOv5 (You Only Look Once) as its algorithm to detect pineapple rind defects using known image processing techniques such as preprocessing and augmentation. Python language was used to integrate the YOLOv5 algorithm, and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) was designed to allow the system to communicate with the user. Using the 5MP OV5647 Camera, the software can process source inputs such as image capture and video. The dataset contents follow, where 70% of training data (350) images, 20% of valid (100) images, and 10% of testing (50) images have been used to create the dataset. Additionally, the dataset had undergone preprocessing and augmentation to maximize the convergence rate of the model. As the system has been implemented and tested throughout the 40 images of pineapples that overall contain 20 rind defects and 20 with no rind defects, the trained model can identify pineapple rind defects at a default confidence threshold of 0.60. With that, the proponents obtained an accuracy score of 88.10 % , which can be considered an ideal and capable model for capturing and detecting pineapple rind defects.

With the rapid development of m-commerce, predicting user's navigation and making the service recommendation become more and more important. Most researches focus on predicting user's navigation using context history and user preferences. But, the influence of the attributes of a service has been ignored. Simultaneously, some attributes are variable, so the recommendations are changeable. Therefore, the paper proposes an attribute-based scheme for service recommendation based on CASUP (context-aware system considering user preference). In proposed approach, the services are classified into several service clusters, and the service recommendations are carried out using Apriori algorithm and ant colony algorithm. Finally, the proposed model is validated by several simulation experiments, which demonstrate the effects of the service attributes in m-commerce.

JVT/H.264 achieves higher compression efficiency than previous video coding standards such as MPEG4 and H.263. However, this comes at the cost of increased complexity due to the use of variable block-size, multiple reference frame motion compensation, and other advanced coding algorithms. In this paper, we present a fast motion estimation algorithm. This algorithm is based on an adaptive search strategy and a flexible multi-frame search scheme. Compared to the H.264 reference software JM 8.5, this algorithm achieves, on average, a 522% reduction of encoding time, with negligible PSNR drop and bit-rate increase. Performance comparison results are described, and the architecture of a complexity-aware streaming server that applies the algorithm to provide differentiated services is discussed.

In this paper, we propose an efficient binary motion estimation (BME) algorithm and its architecture for MPEG-4 shape coding. In our algorithm, the redundant search position can be skipped. Based on the new algorithm, an architecture design for proposed BME is developed. Simulation results show that our algorithm can reduce the number of search positions in BME to only 3.5% compared with full search algorithm. The proposed algorithm will reduce computational complexity of shape coding significantly and is suitable for real-time software and hardware applications.
