The Segment Anything Model (SAM) has exhibited outstanding performance in various image segmentation tasks. Despite being trained with over a billion masks, SAM faces challenges in mask prediction quality in numerous scenarios, especially in real-world contexts. In this paper, we introduce a novel prompt-driven adapter into SAM, namely Prompt Adapter Segment Anything Model (PA-SAM), aiming to enhance the segmentation mask quality of the original SAM. By exclusively training the prompt adapter, PA-SAM extracts detailed information from images and optimizes the mask decoder feature at both sparse and dense prompt levels, improving the segmentation performance of SAM to produce high-quality masks. Experimental results demonstrate that our PA-SAM outperforms other SAM-based methods in high-quality, zero-shot, and open-set segmentation. Face detection is a mandatory step in many computer vision applications, such as face recognition, emotion recognition, age detection, virtual makeup, and vital sign monitoring. Thanks to advancements in deep learning and the introduction of annotated large-scale datasets, numerous applications have been developed for human faces. Recently, other domains, such as animals and cartoon characters, have started gaining attention but still lag far behind human faces. The biggest challenge is the limited number of annotated face datasets in these domains. The manual labeling of large-scale datasets is tedious and requires substantial human labor. In this regard, we present an inputagnostic face detector to ease the annotation of various face datasets. We propose a simple but effective data-centric approach instead of building a specific neural network architecture. Specifically, we trained a face detection model, YOLO5Face, on human, animal, and cartoon face datasets. The experiments show that the model can achieve accurate results in all domains. In addition, the model achieved decent results for animals and cartoon characters different from the ones in the training set. This implies that the model can extract agnostic facial features. We have made the source code and pre-trained models publicly available at https://***/IS2AI/AnyFace to stimulate research in these fields.

In this paper we introduce CUE-Net, a novel architecture designed for automated violence detection in video surveillance. As surveillance systems become more prevalent due to technological advances and decreasing costs, the challenge of efficiently monitoring vast amounts of video data has intensified. CUE-Net addresses this challenge by combining spatial Cropping with an enhanced version of the UniformerV2 architecture, integrating convolutional and self-attention mechanisms alongside a novel Modified Efficient Additive Attention mechanism (which reduces the quadratic time complexity of self-attention) to effectively and efficiently identify violent activities. This approach aims to overcome traditional challenges such as capturing distant or partially obscured subjects within video frames. By focusing on both local and global spatiotemporal features, CUE-Net achieves state-of-the-art performance on the RWF-2000 and RLVS datasets, surpassing existing methods. Traditional phase retrieval is generally concerned with re-covering a signal from its Fourier magnitude measurements whose inherent ambiguities make this problem especially difficult. In this work, we present an efficient phase retrieval technique from the single fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) magnitude measurement. Specifically, the FrFT measurement can be well-combined with signal priors via a generalized alternating projection framework, which can effectively alleviate the ambiguities of phase retrieval and the stagnation problem of numerical iterative processes. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate that reconstructing an image from the single FrFT measurement leads to a significant performance improvement over that from the Fourier transform magnitude by using the proposed method. Zero-delay lossy source coding schemes are considered for individual sequences. Performance is measured by the distortion redundancy, defined as the difference between the normalized cumulative mean squared distortion of the scheme and the normalized cumulative distortion of the best scalar quantizer of the same rate which is matched to the entire sequence to be encoded. Recently, Weissman and Merhav constructed a randomized scheme which, for any bounded individual sequence of length n, achieves a distortion redundancy O(n/sup -1/3/logn). However, this scheme has prohibitive complexity (both space and time) which makes practical implementation infeasible. In this paper, we present an efficiently computable algorithm based on a "follow the perturbed leader"-type prediction method by Kalai and Vempala. Our algorithm achieves distortion redundancy O(n/sup -1/4/ logn), which is somewhat worse than that of the scheme by Merhav and Weissman, but it has computational complexity that is linear in the sequence length n, and requires O(n/sup 1/4/) storage capacity.

Two classes of simplified trellis decoding algorithms are defined and analyzed. Even with a significant simplification (several orders of magnitude) these algorithms yield an error probability which for large signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is asymptotically the same as the one for Viterbi decoding, apart from a small, insignificant factor. Even for moderate to low SNRs the simplified methods have error probabilities comparable to those of the Viterbi algorithm. This shows that there is a great freedom in designing simplified trellis decoding algorithms, where many kinds of tradeoffs (simplicity vs. performance) can be made.< >

A lot of job openings have been released online, which makes job recommendation more and more important. Recently, users often enter their preferences into job search websites to receive some job recommendations that they hope to apply for. To achieve this goal, the following two types of data are available: (1) auxiliary behavior data such as viewing job postings, bookmarking them and (2) explicit preference data such as conditions for a job that each user desires. Some researchers propose job recommendation by addressing either of them. However, they have not focused on simultaneously addressing both (1) and (2) so far. Given this point, we propose a method for job recommendation that employs auxiliary behavior data and each user’s explicit preference data simultaneously. Additionally, our proposed method addresses multiple behavior overlaps and refines the latent representations. Experimental results on our dataset constructed from an actual job search website show that our proposed model outperforms several state-of-the-arts as measured by MRR and nDCG. Our source code has been released 1 .

Integer mapping is critical for lossless source coding and the techniques have been used for image compression in the new international image compression standard, JPEG 2000. In this paper, from block factorizations for any nonsingular transform matrix, we introduce two types of parallel elementary reversible matrix (PERM) factorizations which are helpful for the parallelization of perfectly reversible integer transforms. With improved degree of parallelism (DOP) and parallel performance, the cost of multiplication and addition can be respectively reduced to O(logN) and O(log2N) for an N-by-N transform matrix. These make PERM factorizations an effective means of developing parallel integer transforms for large matrices. Besides, we also present a scheme to block the matrix and allocate the load of processors for efficient transformation.

This research paper proposes the design and im-plementation of automated testing tool specifically tailored for supporting the learning and training of web application development. The tool aims to streamline the assessment process for instructors by automating code marking for web application teaching and training tasks, reducing the time-intensive manual assessment process. Unlike existing tools that primarily target static pages or monolithic source code files, our tool addresses the dynamic nature of modern web development courses and training, incorporating modern web development frameworks. Utilising ***, ***, and MongoDB, the tool offers a robust infrastructure for automated test case generation, execution, and feedback provision. This paper contributes to the training and educational technology field by enhancing automated grading and feedback efficiency, enabling accurate differentiation between stu-dent assessment work and standard answers, thus bridging gaps in existing tools reliant on line-by-line comparison algorithms.
