The hybrid mobile satellite system operating in a single frequency network (SFN) mode is more and more popular, since the combination of satellite component (SC) and terrestrial component (TC) can provide better Quality of Service (QoS). This paper presents a novel way to realize the dual polarization MIMO transmission by using layered space time block code (LSTBC). The theoretical analysis and simulations indicate that the application of LSTBC can improve the system performance dramatically by making use of the space, time and polarization diversity. It provides a higher diversity gain than the previous space time (ST) codes when satellite and terrestrial link are both available. Even if one of the links is lost, it can still work properly and offers a performance equals to the satellite-only or terrestrial-only broadcasting system. Furthermore, it can be extended to the hybrid systems with multiple SCs and TCs.

A space time code based partial rank affine projection (PRAP) algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses an input signal where the input signal matrix X-k becomes an orthogonal matrix. For this input signal, matrix (X-k(T) X-k) becomes a diagonal matrix whose inverse can be easily computed. Thus, the proposed algorithm saves a significant amount of computations. Due to this feature the proposed PRAP algorithm is shown to offer a faster convergence speed and a smaller computational burden per iteration than the NLMS algorithm does.

In this paper, we study the performance of space time block code (STBC) under the constraint that the receiver must rely on imperfect channel state information. This is done in order to verify and compare the performance that can be expected in an actual space time code system. The sensitivity and robustness of space-time block codes to varying levels of error in the amplitude and phase of the estimates will be illustrated using a series of simulations. This new information could be used to help design and verify the performance of a channel estimation scheme based on the insertion of pilot sequences into the data stream of each transmit antenna. The imperfect channel estimates will be created by taking the actual fading coefficients introduced into the channel and applying some degree of error into either the magnitude or the phase of those coefficients before decoding. This simulates the inability of an estimation scheme to predict the channel characteristics with perfect accuracy.

In this paper a special version of cooperative distributed space time coding for the relays network is proposed. According to this system model relays cooperatively collaborate with the sources to transmit the space time code to the destination. Process of the transmission consists of two phases. In the first time phase source broadcast the information to the destination and relay. In the next time phase, the source and relay cooperatively send signals to the destination by using an embedded space time coding. Structure of embedded space time code is based on singular value decomposition of circulant matrix. Relays are assumed to be non-regenerative amplify-and-forward. Theoretical analysis for calculating the bit error rate (BER) has been done based on maximum ratio combining (MRC). Simulation results for the case of one relay, one source and destination through the Rayleigh fading channel has been done and compared with the scenario when transmitter and relay used the Alamouti code.

In this paper a special space time coding is proposed for communication systems which is equipped with four time solts and two antennas. The launched code has full rate and full diversity and maximum likelihood (ML) decoding requires joint detection of four real symbols. Simulation results for bit error rate (BER) analysis show that the proposed STBC outperforms previously presented schemes.

In this letter, space time (ST) trellis codes are developed for systems with an arbitrary number of receiver antennas in quasi-static fading channels applying M-ary continuous phase frequency shift keying (CPFSK) modulation with M = 4 and 8 for h = 1/M. The maximizing minimum squared Euclidean distance criterion (MMSEDC) is applied in the code search algorithm when obtaining the ST codes. The results show that a significant performance gain can be obtained by using the ST codes from the MMSEDC code search algorithm compared to the ST codes obtained in [1] for CPFSK modulation systems.

A new scenario for wireless broadcasting is the antenna heterogeneity. In this letter, we propose a new hybrid digital analog design to make the users attain the perceptual quality commensurate with their antenna numbers. A high resolution video is decomposed into a base layer and an enhancement layer. The base layer is transmitted by the conventional digital space time coding scheme. The enhancement layer is transmitted by the pseudo analog and spatial multiplexing that is applied to provide signal quality commensurate with antenna number of users. Compared with the conventional frameworks, the proposed system achieves a notable margin in the peak signal-to-noise ratio and much better performances for receivers with more antennas.

Comb type pilot aided channel estimation in OFDM systems with transmit diversity

Transmit diversity can be applied to OFDM systems by adopting space time code. Since the received signal is the overlapped signals transmitted from different transmit antennas, channel estimation is a rather challenging task for space time coded OFDM (ST-OFDM) systems. Pilot structure can help the receiver to effectively separate the overlapped signals and perform accurate channel estimation. In this paper, we propose three different channel estimation algorithms based on specially designed comb type pilots inserted in frequency domain. One of our proposed algorithms is performed in frequency domain and the other two are performed in time domain. Such comb type pilot based algorithms can provide higher bandwidth efficiency than common significant-tap-catching algorithm using training block pilots. Numerical analyzes and computational simulation show that our proposed estimation schemes have the same good performance while the time domain methods have relatively simple structure.

Linear orthogonal dispersive codes is proposed in this paper. LODC is constructed from a group of complete orthogonal vector basis of vector space. LODC can be modified to transmit low rate information sequence with better power efficiency. Optimal design of LODC is also proposed to find a space time code with joint optimized capacity and symbol error probability. This method is shown to have simple design concept, competitive low implementation complexity and quite good diversity gain and multiplexing gain.

In this paper, MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple Output) system based on turbo equalization techniques which LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) codes were outer code and STTC (space time Trellis code) were employed as an inner code are studied. LDPC may be applied these system, it must make BCJR output be hard decision data. It caused performance degraded. This paper proposed turbo equalization model for LDPC codes able to apply MIMO system combined with STTC codes. By the simulation results, we confirmed performance of proposed turbo equalization model was improved about 2.5 dB than that of turbo codes and about 11.5dB than that of conventional LDPC codes.
