Dual Relay Selection for Cooperative NOMA With Distributed space time coding

We consider a two-user multi-relay cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) network with distributed space time coding. Two dual-relay selection strategies are proposed for cooperative NOMA, namely, two-stage dual relay selection with fixed power allocation (DRS-FPA) and two-stage dual relay selection with dynamic power allocation (DRS-DPA). Furthermore, lower and upper bounds on the outage probability for the DRS-FPA scheme and the exact outage probability for the DRS-DPA scheme are obtained in closed-form, respectively. Numerical results show that the proposed two-stage DRS schemes not only yield better outage performance than the existing single relay selection schemes without sacrificing spectral efficiency, but can also achieve full diversity gain.

This letter investigates a distinct set of complex unitary matrices for differential space time coding by using QPSK modulation. The numerical results show that the properly selection of the initial transmission matrix and the set of unitary matrices can efficiently improve the bit error rate (BER) performance, especially for the antennas correlated fading channel. The computer simulations are evaluated over slow and fast Rayleigh fading channels.

In this work, we propose a buffer-aided distributed space-time coding (DSTC) scheme for cooperative direct-sequence code-division multiple access systems. We first devise a relay selection algorithm that can automatically select the optimum set of relays among both the source-relay phase and the relay-destination phase for DSTC transmission according to the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) criterion. Multiple relays equipped with buffers are introduced in the network, which allows the relays to store data received from the sources and wait until the most appropriate time for transmission. Simulation results show that the proposed buffer-aided DSTC scheme and algorithm outperform prior art.

A new maximum ratio combining (MRC) Wavelet Rake (WR) receiver is presented in this paper. The WR receiver makes use of the huge bandwidth accompanied with the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) system. The proposed WR receiver uses the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) of the transmitted pulse at different scales (frequency resolutions) as the Rake fingers template pulses. Where, the Rake fingers delays are the group delays equivalent to the template pulses center frequency. Thus, the WR does not only capture the signal energy in the different multipath components at different delays (in conventional Rake (CR)) but also at different frequency components too. The WR is presented with UWB single-input single-output (SISO) and multi-input multi-output (MIMO) with analog space time coding (STC) systems. Its performance is compared to these systems with the conventional MRC-Rake receiver and Genetic Algorithm (GA) Rake presented in [1] and showed a great enhancement in performance with less receiver complexity.

In this paper, a novel adaptive maximum ratio combining (MRC) rake receiver using genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed. The proposed adaptive GA Rake receiver uses GA to adaptively select the delays of Rake receiver fingers depending on the channel impulse response. It adaptively selects the delays that will allow the Rake receiver to capture most of the energy of the multipath components with less complexity. The adaptive GA Rake is applied to the UWB single-input single-output (SISO) and multi-input single-output (MISO) with analog space time coding (STC) systems. Its performance is compared to these systems with the conventional MRC-rake receiver and showed a great enhancement in performance with less receiver complexity.

In this work, we propose buffer-aided distributed space-time coding (DSTC) schemes and relay selection algorithms for cooperative direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. We first devise a relay pair selection algorithm that can exploit all possible relay pairs and then select the optimum set of relays among both the source-relay phase and the relay-destination phase according to the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) criterion. Multiple relays equipped with dynamic buffers are then introduced in the network, which allows the relays to store data received from the sources and wait until the most appropriate time for transmission. A greedy relay pair selection algorithm is then developed to reduce the high cost brought by the exhaustive search that is required when a large number of relays are involved in the transmission. The proposed techniques effectively improve the quality of the transmission with an acceptable delay as the buffer size is adjustable. An analysis of the computational complexity of the proposed algorithms and the delay and a study of the greedy algorithm are then carried out. Simulation results show that the proposed dynamic buffer-aided DSTC schemes and algorithms outperform prior art.

Generalized Khatri-Rao and Kronecker space-time coding for MIMO relay systems with closed-form semi-blind receivers

In this paper, we propose two new space-time (ST) coding schemes for multiple-antenna signalling based on multiple Khatri-Rao and Kronecker products of symbol matrices, denoted MKRST and MKronST codings, respectively. These new coding schemes generalize the standard Khatri-Rao coding by introducing extra space time diversities due to a mutual space-time spreading of the transmitted data streams, induced by Khatri-Rao and Kronecker products between symbol matrices. Parallel non-iterative decoding methods are proposed for estimating each symbol matrix. We consider a one-way two-hop multi-input multi-output (MIMO) relay system using the MKRST and MKronST codings at both the source and relay nodes, and three different relaying protocols, namely, amplify-and-forward (AF), decode-and-forward (DF) and estimate-and-forward (EF). For the DF and EF protocols, the channel and symbol estimation is split into two successive phases, one at the relay and the other one at the destination. Exploiting parallel factor (PARAFAC) models for the tensors of signals received at the relay and the destination, closed-form semi-blind receivers are derived for joint symbol and channel estimation. System parameters identifiability is also discussed, and the computational cost of the proposed receivers and decoders is detailed. Monte Carlo simulation results are provided to assess the performance of the proposed coding schemes, and semi-blind receivers. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

In our previous work [1], we investigated how the temporal and spatial diversity influence the multiple access performance and how the space-time coding technique is used to mitigate the multiple access interference (MAI) and the inter-symbol interference (ISI) thereby improving the bit error rate (BER) performance of the ultra wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) system, where the antenna effects is not involved among the performance evaluation process. Whereas in this paper, an ultra-widehand dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) proposed in [2] is used for transmitting and receiving short pulses which occupy ultra-wide bandwidth. Numerical results show that the DRA is a good candidate for transmitting and receiving short pulses and the space-time coding technique is an efficient mean to improve the performance of ultra wideband impulse radio system under IEEE 802.15 multipath environment.
