spatial pattern of Asian stalagmite δ¹⁸O over the last millennium shaped by monsoon circulation changes

High-resolution stalagmite delta O-18 records have been used to study variations in the Asian summer monsoon (ASM) over the last millennium. However, the spatial pattern and climatic significance of these records remain unclear. Based on precise Th-230 dating and annual laminae counts, we present a similar to 3-year-resolution stalagmite delta O-18 record from Xinglong Cave in North China, covering 731-1698 C.E. and 1832-1937 C.E. Empirical orthogonal function analysis was performed on this new record and 17 other coeval stalagmite delta O-18 records in the ASM region. The first spatial pattern displays positive loadings primarily in 'India, Southeast Asia, and North China' (INC) and negative loadings in 'South China' (SC). The first principal component negatively correlates with the reconstructed sea surface temperatures (SST) of the eastern equatorial Pacific, North Indian Ocean (NIO), and tropical North Atlantic. During periods of warming SST in these regions, anomalous tropical western North Pacific anticyclone (WNPAC) enriches delta O-18 in precipitation and stalagmites over SC by increasing water vapor transport from the South China Sea and western Pacific. Meanwhile, NIO warming and WNPAC increase precipitation in the Indian Peninsula, depleting delta O-18 in water vapor and precipitation. This O-18-depleted water vapor continues to transport into China, affecting delta O-18 in precipitation and stalagmites in regions located outside the WNPAC's northwestern flank. Our study suggests circulation anomalies may drive significant spatial differences in stalagmite delta O-18 from the ASM region over the last millennium.

spatial pattern and compositional distribution of organochlorine pesticides in the black soil region of Shenyang

Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) are persistent organic pollutants (POPs) prevalent in soils with carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic hazards that are commonly found in soils and remain in the environment even though they have been banned. In order to fill the gap of fewer studies after the ban, soil samples were collected from 308 agricultural fields of cash crops and grain crops in the black soil area of Shenyang City (Liaozhong District, Faku County, Xinmin City and Kangping County) in this study. The aim was to determine, the use and distribution characteristics of OCPs in agricultural soils in the black soil region of Shenyang City. Compositional analysis showed that the detection rate of banned OCPs in agricultural soils was 71.75%, including contaminants such as technical dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT), chlordane and hexachlorobenzene (HCB), which were widely distributed in Liaozhong District, Faku County, Xinmin City and Kangping County, with 45.25% of the fields having compounded contamination of OCPs, and several areas were involved in the fresh inputs of contaminants such as technical DDT. Among them, Kangping County and Faku County are more seriously polluted, with 66.29% and 60.71% of OCPs exceeding the standard. Soil OCPs is more serious in cabbage and rice farmland among cash and food crop farmland. Based on Chinese policy on control, prevention and other pesticide management measures, it was concluded that the framework should be strengthened to prevent further illegal use of banned OCPs.

spatial pattern and heterogeneity of green view index in mountainous cities: a case study of Yuzhong district, Chongqing, China

The Green View Index (GVI) is utilized to evaluate urban street value and ecosystem services and to gauge public perceptions of street greening. This study investigates the spatial heterogeneity of the GVI and its influencing factors in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, a mountainous city in China. Deep learning algorithms were employed to calculate the green visibility of street view images, and Geographic Weighted Regression (GWR) and the Optimal Parameter-Based Geodetector (OPGD) were utilized to analyze the relationships between GVI and factors such as road physical attributes, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and topographic features. The results indicate that: (1) In Yuzhong District, 58.9% of streets have a GVI within a low to moderate range, suggesting room for improvement. Higher GVI levels are generally associated with elevated Digital Elevation Models (DEM), while slope, aspect, and terrain undulation have relatively minor overall impacts on GVI. (2) The GVI is highest in the western regions and lowest in the eastern regions, with streets along the riversides exhibiting lower GVI levels. (3) GWR analysis reveals that road type and NDVI significantly influence the GVI. Higher DEM values promote increased GVI, whereas high road density suppresses it. (4) The interaction between influencing factors drives the differentiated distribution of GVI within the study area. The interaction effects between Road type, NDVI, and DEM are particularly notable among these.

With the progress of the Internet, the limitations of traditional scenic spots research in data collection, market evaluation and tourist experience analysis can be broken through, and a new way to evaluate the attractiveness of scenic spots has been opened up. Scenic spots, as a key factor for tourists to choose a destination, has a profound impact on tourism behavior. Focusing on Guangdong Province, this study used GIS spatial analysis and geographic detector to analyze the spatial distribution, influencing factors and forming mechanism of scenic spots in Guangdong Province. It is found that at the significance level of 1%, Global Moran's I value is 0.1297 and Z value is 5.6028, indicating that the attractiveness distribution has a significant spatial agglomeration. The Pearl River Delta region, with its rich cultural resources, developed economy, convenient transportation and huge market demand, has become the most attractive tourist area, and eastern Guangdong followed;however, due to the complex terrain, inconvenient transportation and weak economic foundation, the scenic spots in northern and western Guangdong are not developed enough and the attractiveness is relatively weak. Revealing the spatial structure and influencing factors of scenic spots in Guangdong Province is of far-reaching significance for scientific integration of tourist resources, promoting regional cooperation, guiding the development and upgrading of scenic spots, optimizing resource allocation, enhancing tourism competitiveness and promoting sustainable development of tourism.

spatial pattern characteristics and influencing factors of state-level sports industry bases in China

The spatial distribution of sports industry bases in China holds significant practical importance for the high-quality development of China's sports industry. This study employs spatial data analysis (ESDA), the spatial Gini coefficient, the imbalance index, the standard deviation ellipse, and a panel negative binomial regression model to examine the spatial patterns and influencing factors of the distribution of State-level Sports Industry Bases. The findings are as follows: (1) The 334 State-level Sports Industry Bases in China are located primarily east of the "Hu Line." The distribution pattern of these bases across the 31 provinces has undergone continuous changes from 2016 to 2021. (2) The overall distribution of State-level Sports Industry Bases in China's seven major geographic regions is uneven. Northeast China has the most balanced distribution, while East China has the highest concentration. The standard ellipse of the distribution from 2016 to 2021 reveals a trend of "discrete-centered-discrete-centered-centered." (3) Economic growth and government financial investment in each province and region are significantly positively correlated with an increase in the number of State-level Sports Industry Bases. In contrast, higher levels of regional innovation inhibit the growth of these bases.

This study carried out the research on the spatial pattern and coupling coordination level of regional transportation and economic development, revealed the interaction mechanism between them and evaluated their coupling coordination level through the comprehensive analysis of the transportation network and economic development data of multiple regions. Firstly, a certain urban agglomeration is selected as the research area to complete the data acquisition and processing, and then the spatial econometrics method is used to quantitatively analyze the regional transportation network and the spatial pattern of economic development. The study found that the improvement of the transportation network has a significant impact on the regional economic development, and the improvement of the level of economic development can also promote the optimization and upgrading of the transportation network. Finally, the coupling of regional transportation and economic development is analyzed by using the model. The results show that there are significant differences in the level of coupling and coordination in different regions. The traffic and economic development in some regions have achieved benign interaction, while there are different degrees of imbalance in other regions. © 2024, Aracne Editrice. All rights reserved.

As China continues to experience rapid economic growth and urbanization, there is growing concern about the environmental impact of this development. To address this issue, China has made significant efforts to promote green finance, such as through the issuance of green bonds and the establishment of green credit policies. This study aims to fill this knowledge gap by analyzing the spatial pattern of green finance initiatives and identifying factors that contribute to this pattern. This study analyzes data on green finance initiatives in China from 2014 to 2021. This study applies difference-in-differences, mediation effects, and panel vector autoregression models to empirically examine the impact mechanism and policy intervention effects of inclusive green funding on the development of green finance. According to the results, green grants enormously boost green innovation, and these impacts hold across *** results of this study indicate that the spatial pattern of green finance in China is strongly influenced by regional economic development, with more developed regions such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong having higher levels of green finance activity. The findings of this study have important implications for policy makers in China and other countries that are looking to promote sustainable development through green finance initiatives.

spatial pattern and driving factors for interprovincial water use in China: Based on SNA and LMDI

China, the world's largest developing country, faces a severe water shortage. As the government has set a goal of limiting water use to 7000 x 10(8) m(3) by 2035, how to control the increase in water use will be a thorny issue for China. Unbalanced and uncoordinated regional socio-economic development is an important feature of China. Research on the interaction between provincial water use will help to optimize the rational allocation of water resources and control of water use. In this paper, SNA (social network analysis) method is first used to explore the characteristics of social network relationship between inter-provincial water use, construct a two-stage model of SNA-LMDI, and decompose the driving factors of inter-provincial water use evolution. We found the following points. (1) From 2000 to 2018, the spatial correlation network structure of water use is tending to be stable, and the stability and risk resistance of the whole network are enhanced. (2) From different angles to quantify the centricity analysis, can be found that eastern provinces located right in the heart of water network, obviously larger impact on water resources utilization in other provinces, Shanghai and Beijing is located in the former two, and central and western provinces in the edge position. (3) The national water use spatial correlation network can be divided into four blocks, net beneficial block, bidirectional spillover block, brokers block, and net spillover block. (4) Technological progress and industrial structure adjustment were the primary and secondary factors inhibiting the increase of total water use, while income increase was the main factor promoting the increase of total water use, population scale expansion had a weak role in promoting the increase of total water use. Some policy implications are put forward related to our research conclusions.

Breast cancer (BC) had the highest incidence of all cancers in Chinese women. However, studies on spatial pattern and environmental drivers of BC were still lacked as they were either limited in a small area or few considered the comprehensive impact of multiple risk factors. In this study, we firstly performed spatial visualization and the spatial autocorrelation analysis based on Chinese women breast cancer incidence (BCI) data of 2012-2016. Then, we explored the environmental drivers related to BC by applying univariate correlation analysis and geographical detector model. We found that the BC high-high clusters were mainly distributed in the eastern and central regions, such as Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, and Anhui Provinces. The BCI in Shenzhen was significantly higher than other prefectures. Urbanization rate (UR), per capita GDP (PGDP), average years of school attainment (AYSA), and average annual wind speed (WIND) had higher explanatory power on spatial variability of the BCI. PM10, NO2, and PGDP had significant nonlinear enhanced effect on other factors. Besides, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) was negatively associated with BCI. Therefore, high socioeconomic status, serious air pollution, high wind speed, and low vegetation cover were the risk factors for BC. Our study may able to provide evidence for BC etiology research and precise identification of areas requiring focused screening.
