The electromagnetic processes in the power section of the serial-to-parallel resonant converter for contactless charging of electric vehicle battery are analyzed. The solutions of the vector-matrix equations, which describe the processes in the power section of the resonant converter for contactless inductive charging have been obtained with the usage of the state-variable method, which allow to obtain the dependence of the average value of the output current on the parameters of the circuit elements, load and the length of the transformer gap. The load and control characteristics of the converter are obtained and analyzed.

The paper deals with a method for the solution of voltage/current waves propagating in multiconductor transmission line (MTL) structures and their sensitivities. The technique is based on a lumped-parameter model of the MTL while its solution is formulated via the state-variable method in the s-domain. The required t-domain solution is, got by means of numerical inversion of Laplace transforms (NILT) method. All the obtained results have been compared with the results got through the solution of MTL telegraphic equations by using Matlab language.

The paper deals with techniques for a computer simulation of nonuniform multiconductor transmission lines (MTLs) based on the implicit Wendroff and the statevariable methods. The techniques fall into a class of finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) methods useful to solve various electromagnetic systems. Their basic variants are extended and modified to enable solving both voltage and current distributions along nonuniform MTL’s wires and their sensitivities with respect to lumped and distributed parameters. An experimental error analysis is performed based on the Thomson cable whose analytical solutions are known, and some examples of simulation of both uniform and nonuniform MTLs are presented. Based on the Matlab language programme, CPU times are analyzed to compare efficiency of the methods. Some results for nonlinear MTLs simulation are presented as well.

A flexible synthesis procedure for electronically tunable nth-order current-mode (CM) universal filter using state variable-method is given. The proposed configuration uses n+1 multi-output second generation current conveyors (MO-CCIIs), n capacitors and n resistors. These resistors can be removed by using multi-output second generation current controlled conveyors (MO-CCCIIs) instead of MO-CCIIs. It is straightforward to find the values of the passive elements from the coefficients of the transfer function to be realized. The validity of the proposed filter is verified through PSpice simulations.

The paper describes a method for computation of sensitivities of voltage and current distributed on multiconductor transmission lines (MTL). The technique is based on a generalized II-network lumped-parameter model of the MTL while its solution is formulated via the state-variable method. The required t-domain solution is obtained by using the numerical inversion of Laplace transforms (NILT) procedure. The method enables to determine sensitivities with respect to both lumped parameters of the external network elements and distributed parameters of the MTL itself. The error analysis is performed while utilizing a simple system with known analytical solution.

The problem in designing an automatic gain controller (AGC) for a low-frequency oscillator is to assure that the de voltage is related to the amplitude of oscillation. For a switched-capacitor (SC) oscillator composed of three SC phase-shifters, the capacitances yielding a de voltage proportional to the square of the oscillation amplitude are discussed. By the stated-variable method, the SC oscillator was analyzed to determine the conditions under which the outputs of three phase-shifters are equal in amplitude and different in phase by 120 degrees. When the condition is satisfied, the de voltage is obtained by summing the three squared outputs. An SC oscillator was designed based on the circuit analysis, and its performance agreed well with the analytical results. (C) 1997 Scripta Technica, Inc.
