In the rapidly developing microelectronics packaging industry, the demand for high-speed and high-precision equipment is becoming more and more urgent. Gantry motion platform has been widely used in the field of chip packaging because of its excellent performance. However, the platform faces a key challenge, namely the mechanical coupling between linear motors, which affects positioning accuracy and synchronization performance. In order to solve this problem, the linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) is introduced in this study, which is a simplified version of the active disturbance rejection controller and has received much attention because of its easy parameter adjustment. It is suggested to combine the cross-coupling synchronization algorithm with the control method based on LADRC to optimize the gantry platform servo system. In order to further improve the response speed of the platform, a feedforward controller (FFC) is also added in the study. In addition, the linear extended state observer (LESO) is used to monitor the dynamic changes and disturbances of the system, and the corresponding compensation is made, which improves the anti-interference ability and stability of the servo system. The simulation model of gantry movement platform control system is established, and the effectiveness of LADRC strategy is verified. The results show that LADRC combined with feedforward compensation is superior to PID control in terms of reaction speed, anti-interference ability and synchronous tracking, and can meet the requirements of high speed and high precision in microelectronics packaging industry.

The Statistics of Computer Clocks and the Design of synchronization algorithms

In this study, I used standard statistical tools (such as the various forms of the two-sample Allan variance) to characterize the clocks in computers, and I show how the results of this study are used to design algorithms to synchronize the computer clocks. These synchronization algorithms can be used to synchronize the time of a computer to a local reference clock or to a remote server. The algorithms by themselves are not intended to be a simple replacement for software that implements the Network Time Protocol (NTP) or any other similar application. Instead, they describe the statistical principles that should be used to design an algorithm to synchronize any computer clock by using data from any external reference received in any format. These algorithms have been used to synchronize the clocks of the computers that support the Internet Time Service operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and I illustrate the performance of the algorithm with real-time data from these servers. In addition to presenting the design principles of the algorithm, I illustrate the principles with two specific examples: synchronizing a computer clock to a local reference signal, and the design of a synchronization process that is based on time-difference data received from a remote server over the public Internet. The message exchange between the local system and the remote server in this configuration is realized in NTP format, but that is not a fundamental requirement.

Repouse is indispensable for the human body, one of its main functions being to replenish energy. During sleep, the body's important restorative activities are performed by the organism, which is a basic human need. With awareness of the dimension that sleep represents and the need to improve its quality, the importance of monitoring in real time becomes evident. Based on this, a technique capable of obtaining characteristics of a signal, such as its frequency, as well as being able to be applied to sleep waves, is the Fast Fourier Transform. However, to have a good use, a considerable number of sample cycles is necessary, which demands a certain computational effort. In this sense, we sought to apply the Phase-Locked Loop technique in this work. Thus, a Fourier-based synchronization algorithm is proposed to track low-frequency brain waves during sleep. It is also worth noting that this method is capable of performing the estimates in just one cycle. Therefore, the objective is to obtain the estimated curve referring to the frequency and an efficient synchronization algorithm that is able to track deep sleep in real time. © 2023 IEEE.

With the advancement of modern robotics, autonomous agents are now capable of hosting sophisticated algorithms, which enables them to make intelligent decisions. But developing and testing such algorithms directly in real -world systems is tedious and may result in the wastage of valuable resources. Especially for heterogeneous multi -agent systems in battlefield environments where communication is critical in determining the system's behavior and usability. Due to the necessity of simulators of separate paradigms (co -simulation) to simulate such scenarios before deploying, synchronization between those simulators is vital. Existing works aimed at resolving this issue fall short of addressing diversity among deployed agents. In this work, we propose SynchroSim, an integrated co -simulation middleware to simulate a heterogeneous multi-robot system. Here we propose a velocity difference-driven adjustable window size approach with a view to reducing packet loss probability. It takes into account the respective velocities of deployed agents to calculate a suitable window size before transmitting data between them. We consider our algorithm specific simulator agnostic but for the sake of implementation results, we have used Gazebo as a Physics simulator and NS -3 as a network simulator. Also, we design our algorithm considering the Perception -Action loop inside a closed communication channel, which is one of the essential factors in a contested scenario with the requirement of high fidelity in terms of data transmission. We validate our approach empirically at both the simulation and system level for both line -of-sight (LOS) and non -line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios. Our approach achieves a noticeable improvement in terms of reducing packet loss probability (approximate to 11%), and average packet delay (approximate to 10%) compared to the fixed window size-based synchronization approach.

A Course Controller with Finite-Time Stability for Unmanned Surface Vehicle Thruster System

Aiming at the situation that small unmanned surface vehicle (USV) encounters unknown disturbance during low speed sailing, a course controller with finite time stability is designed. To solve this problem, we construct an undisturbed ideal navigation model which simply meets the stability requirements, and constructs an adaptive sliding mode surface. The control under finite time approach law is also introduced. The model under perturbation can land on the sliding mode surface in finite time and then synchronize with the ideal navigation model. The adaptive control was applied in the implementation of power control for the thruster structure, so as to ensure the tracking of the desired course within the finite time, and satisfy the needs for the stable system performance. Lyapunov direct method is used to strictly prove that the designed controller can ensure the system which converges to the steady state value in a given time period. Simulation results show that the designed adaptive finite-time controller can ensure the stable course tracking of the USV with thruster structure at low speed, and meet the requirements of the course robustness of the USV under dynamic conditions.

Communication-efficient ADMM-based distributed algorithms for sparse training

In large-scale distributed machine learning (DML), the synchronization efficiency of the distributed algorithm becomes a critical factor that affects the training time of machine learning models as the computing scale increases. To address this challenge, we propose a novel algorithm called Grouped Sparse AllReduce based on the 2D-Torus topology (2D-TGSA), which enables constant transmission traffic that does not change with the number of workers. Our experimental results demonstrate that 2D-TGSA outperforms several benchmark algorithms in terms of synchronization efficiency. Moreover, we integrate the general form consistent ADMM with 2D-TGSA to develop a distributed algorithm (2D-TGSAADMM) that exhibits excellent scalability and can effectively handle large-scale distributed optimization problems. Furthermore, we enhance 2D-TGSA-ADMM by adopting the resilient adaptive penalty parameter approach, resulting in a new algorithm called 2D-TGSA-TPADMM. Our experiments on training the logistic regression model with '1-norm on the Tianhe-2 supercomputing platform demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can significantly reduce the synchronization time and training time compared to state-of-the-art methods.& COPY;2023 Elsevier B.V. The underwater acoustic channel is a kind of dual-selective fading channel, which has the characteristics of time-varying, space-variation and frequency-variation. It has serious multipath effect and Doppler effect. The characteristics of severe multipath interference, large background noise, large delay spread, and narrow usable bandwidth are the main obstacles to get the performance of high-speed, reliable acoustic communications. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology is a modulation technique with high spectrum utilization and has the advantage of strong anti-multipath capability, and has become a common technique to solve these problems. But another problem is that the OFDM device is very sensitive to synchronization errors. synchronization errors will have a serious impact on OFDM communication systems and become one of the key technologies of OFDM. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study OFDM synchronization techniques in underwater acoustic channels. This paper mainly studies the application of OFDM synchronization algorithm in underwater wireless communication under underwater acoustic channels.

This paper proposes a practical synchronization algorithm for Transmit-Reference UWB receiver which uses sliding window and supports flexible sampling rates. Additionally, a Simulink model and implementation of synchronization algorithm in receiver by hardware description language (HDL) is also developed using model-based design. Finally, we assess impact of signal-noise-rate (SNR), number of bits quantization and sampling rate on bit-error-rate (BER).

Revisiting the cutting of the firing squad synchronization

Various synchronization algorithms have been introduced in literature during the last decades to deal with the firing squad synchronization problem on cellular automata (CA). Among others defective CA algorithms, where the CA cell is able to transmit information without previous processing, have been also presented. In our case, originating from the classical Mazoyer's paper, where a minimum-time solution is presented with 6 states, a one-dimensional CA where one cell may permanently fail is presented. In the proposed algorithm, the defective cell can neither process nor transmit information any longer, while it is considered that such dynamic defects may become apparent in any time step of computation. A thorough analysis of the synchronization, in terms of location and time at which cell fails, for the cells found in both sides of defective cell is delivered to decipher the corresponding maximal possible number of synchronized cells in each part of the cut, due to defect, CA array. The proposed algorithm is properly extended to consider more than one defective cells that may occur in the under study one-dimensional CA. Based on the aforementioned analysis, we provide the generalization of synchronization with multiple totally defective cells, while application examples of the generalized CA algorithm in case of two defective cells are also presented. Finally, another intriguing aspect refers to handling of states that could be tentatively characterized as unknown, in a confrontation similar to the previous defective state but also different, since now this(these) cell(s) are not stated as faulty but unknown. As a result, a new one-dimensional CA with less states, compared to the previous CA defective algorithms, able to synchronize the maximal possible number of cells in each part occurs.

New challenges and opportunities emerge as computing interacts with our surroundings in unprecedented ways. One of these challenges is the energy consumed by computations and communications. In large cloud-based computing systems, it is a major concern because it forms the largest proportion of the environmental and operational costs of data centers. In mobile systems, it directly impacts battery life. This work focuses on understanding and reducing power and energy consumption of the parallel and distributed execution of discrete event simulations, an area not extensively studied in the past. We first empirically characterize the energy consumption of widely used synchronization algorithms. Then a model and techniques are presented and exercised to create energy profile of a distributed simulation system. These demonstrate that distributed execution and synchronization can incur a significant energy and power overhead. To study and optimize the energy required for distributed execution, a property termed zero-energy synchronization is proposed. A zero-energy synchronization algorithm based on an oracle is presented, and a practical implementation is discussed. A more generic synchronization algorithm termed Low Energy YAWNS (LEY) is also proposed. LEY represents the first attempt to design a synchronization algorithm for energy efficiency and, in principle, can achieve zero-energy synchronization for a large class of distributed simulation applications. To employ the energy efficiency of specialized computing hardware platforms, recurrence relations for simulating G/G/1 queueing networks, directly implementable using library primitives, are proposed. In addition to optimizations and scalability they offer, the use of library primitives ease development and open up avenues for adapting the simulation for custom hardware.
