presents a state-of-the-art review of current perspectives as well as the latest developments in the area of communications and multimedia security. It examines requirements, issues and solutions pertinent to securing information networks, and identifies future security-related research challenges. A wide spectrum of topics is discussed, including:;-Applied cryptography;;-Biometry;;-Communication systemssecurity;;-Applications security; Mobile security;;-Distributed systemssecurity;;-Digital watermarking and digital signatures.;This volume comprises the proceedings of the sixth Joint Working Conference on Communications and Multimedia security (CMS'02), which was sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and held in September 2002 in Portoroz, Slovenia. It constitutes essential reading for information security specialists, researchers and professionals working in the area of computer science and communication systems.

This book deals with "crypto-biometrics", a relatively new and multi-disciplinary area of research (started in 1998). Combining biometrics and cryptography provides multiple advantages, such as, revocability, template diversity, better verification accuracy, and generation of cryptographically usable keys that are strongly linked to the user identity. In this text, a thorough review of the subject is provided and then some of the main categories are illustrated with recently proposed systems by the authors. Beginning with the basics, this text deals with various aspects of crypto-biometrics, including review, cancelable biometrics, cryptographic key generation from biometrics, and crypto-biometric key sharing protocols. Because of the thorough treatment of the topic, this text will be highly beneficial to researchers and industry professionals in information security and privacy. Table of Contents: Introduction / Cancelable Biometric System / Cryptographic Key Regeneration Using Biometrics / Biometrics-Based Secure Authentication Protocols / Concluding Remarks

Advances in information and communication technologies continue to p- vide new means of conducting remote transactions. Services facilitated by these technologies are spreading increasingly into our commercial and private spheres. For many people, these services have changed the way they work, communicate, shop, arrange travel, etc. Remote transactions, however, may also open possibilities for fraud and other types of misuse. Hence, the requi- ment to authorize transactions may arise. Authorization may in turn call for some kind of user authentication. When users have to provide personal inf- mation to access services, they literally leave a part of their life on record. As the number of sites where such records are left increases, so does the d- ger of misuse. So-called identity theft has become a pervasive problem, and a general feeling of unease and lack of trust may dissuade people from using the services on o?er. This,inanutshell,isoneofthemajorchallengesinsecurityengineering- day. How to provide servicesto individuals securelywithout making undue - cursions into their privacy at the same time. Decisions on the limits of privacy intrusions – or privacy protection, for that matter – are ultimately political decisions. Research can de?ne the design space in which service providers and regulators may try to ?nd acceptable tradeo?s between security and privacy.

The CyberICPS Workshop received 13 submissions from which 5 full papers and 2 short papers were selected for presentation. They cover topics related to threats, vulnerabilities and risks that cyber-physical systems and industrial control systems face; cyber attacks that may be launched against such systems; and ways of detecting and responding to such attacks.;From the SECPRE Workshop 9 full papers out of 14 submissions are included. The selected papers deal with aspects of security and privacy requirements assurance and evaluation; and security requirements elicitation and modelling and to GDPR compliance.;The SPOSE Workshop received 7 submissions from which 3 full papers and 1 demo paper were accepted for publication. They demonstrate the possible spectrum for fruitful research at the intersection of security, privacy, organizational science, and systems engineering.;From the ADIoT Workshop 5 full papers and 2 short papers out of 16 submissions are included. The papers focus on IoT attacks and defenses and discuss either practical or theoretical solutions to identify IoT vulnerabilities and IoT security mechanisms.
