Previous research has demonstrated that stereotypes associated with the female gender can impact technology and engineering education results. However, it remains unclear whether these stereotypes affect other relevant factors in technology and engineering education performance. The research used quantitative methods to investigate the correlation between technology and engineering self-efficacy, creative thinking attitudes, and project-based learning value, moderated by gender stereotypes. A total of 262 junior high school students were involved in the research. Correlation analysis showed that dimensions of creative thinking attitudes were positively correlated with project-based learning value, and technology and engineering self-efficacy was positively correlated with creative thinking attitudes and project-based learning value. Moreover, gender stereotypes can effectively moderate individuals' creative thinking attitudes and technology and engineering self-efficacy in technology and engineering education environments based on the project-based learning approach. Therefore, teachers should create an inclusive learning environment, utilizing authentic teaching methods and diverse materials to showcase gender achievements, thereby highlighting the potential of both genders. In addition, it is possible to create a more equitable environment to minimize the impact of gender stereotypes on students .

Technologies capable of projecting injury and performance metrics to athletes and coaches are being developed. Wheelchair athletes must be cognizant of their upper limb health;therefore, systems must be designed to promote efficient transfer of energy to the handrims and evaluated for simultaneous effects on the upper limbs. This article is a brief review of resources that help wheelchair users increase physiologic response to exercise, develop ideas for adaptive workout routines, locate accessible facilities and outdoor areas, and develop wheelchair sports-specific skills.

A fiber Bragg grating filter with ultranarrow dual-transmission bands implemented using the equivalent phase shift technique is demonstrated. A fiber ring laser that incorporates a dual-transmission-band fiber Bragg grating filter in the ring cavity is implemented. engineering thinking enhances real-world learning;it emphasises system thinking, problem finding and creative problem solving as well as visualising, improving, and adapting products and processes. Several studies have investigated how pre-service preschool teachers acquire their knowledge of technology and engineering;however, a clear presentation of the factors that affect their engineering thinking is still lacking. Pre-service preschool teachers' attitudes to technology, their perceptions of and experiences with their own engagement in technology and engineering activities, and their creative potential could contribute to their engineering thinking. To address these gaps, we used data from an empirical study of 154 early childhood pre-service teachers from two Middle European universities in Slovenia and Poland. A conceptual model was hypothesized, tested, and supported by the results using confirmatory factor analysis with structural equation modelling. Our findings revealed significant associations among pre-service teachers' attitude towards technology, perceptions, and behaviour as well as on the role of their experience in a technology and engineering course in the relationship between attitudes toward technology and behavioural practice. Our results offer important implications about how to prepare pre-service teachers for innovative performance towards enhancing technological knowledge and skills.

With a world in full energy transition, research on the topic of energy is consid- ered as one of the prerequisites to reach the ultimate goal of a fully decarbonised energy system. The introduction of electricity as common good in the late 1800s started a year-over-year increase of the global electricity consumption until to- day. With the majority of power plants worldwide running on fossil fuels, also the emittance of the greenhouse gas CO 2 has thus been increasing [1]. The last decade, the fossil fuel dominated electricity sector has been supplemented with non-dispatchable renewable electricity generation, based on sun and wind. Be- ing not spread homogeneously across the globe, renewable electricity generation knows some geographically concentrated areas, such as Europe with Germany be- ing the front-runner. But also in Belgium a significant part of the electricity is already being produced by non-dispatchable renewable generation, as it occupies a fourth place world wide in offshore wind production per capita [2]. The fact that these renewable sources are non-dispatchable is the indirect cause of the research as presented in this work. Dispatching power plants is the concept of instructing them to produce elec- tricity on request, based on the need for electricity. Grid operators or the market give signals to the supply side when en how much electricity to produce, so to attune it with the consumption. This principle of supply-follows-demand for elec- tricity has been grown historically, but is being disrupted due to the uprise of non- dispatchable generation. The needed balance of supply and demand of electricity might be compromised as more and more non-dispatchable renewable generators are added into the market, gradually pushing out the conventional fossil fuel power plants. Stmctural composites are rapidly making their way in the automotive industry, in wind energy applications, in the aircrafi industry, and in the world of advanced sports goods. Especially the search for lightweight solutions drives this evolution. Lighter sports equipment improves performances, lighter wind turbine blades increase the efficiency, and lighter automobile and aircrafi components reduce the energy consumption. Especially in these latter fields, weight reductions have become essential in achieving the ever more stringent regulations on CO2 emissions. Composites tend to behave fiindamentally different from the classical materials, owing to their anisotropic nature. Introducing a composite material to a new market therefore usually requires new standards and a reinvention of the design flow. As these hurdles are being taken in more and more industries, the amolmt of applications grows exponentially. The most commonly used advanced structural composite materials have glass or carbon fibers as reinforcement. The brittle nature of these fiber materials directly translates to a brittle behavior of the resulting composites. Impact, overloads and fatigue loads often cause cracks and delaminations that are hard to detect, because the damage is not visible at the surface of the composite part. At the same time, the damage ofien grows very suddenly, causing unexpected failure at a low strain level. This brittle behavior rules out some applications, and incites overly safe design dimensions in others. These cases would hence benefit from the development of a new class of tough composites. The recent developments in stainless steel fiber production technology are interesting in this context. A fiber diameter of 30 pm or less can be achieved nowadays, and the strain-to-failure can be tailored within a wide range through heat treatment. We delight in using our eyes, particularly when puzzling over pictures. Art and illusionists is a celebration of pictures and the multiple modes of manipulating them to produce illusory worlds on flat surfaces. This has proved fascinating to humankind since the dawning of depiction. Art and illusionists is also a celebration of the ways we see pictures, and of our ability to distil meaning from arrays of contours and colours. Pictures are not only a source of fascination for artists, who produce them, but also for scientists, who analyse the perceptual effects they induce. Illusions provide the glue to cement the art and science of vision. Painters plumb the art of observation itself whereas scientists peer into the processes of perception. Both visual artists and scientists have produced patterns that perplex our perceptions and present us with puzzles that we are pleased to peruse. Art and illusionists presents these two poles of pictorial representation as well as presenting novel perceptual portraits of the artists and scientists who have augmented the art of illusion.
