CS-MMPF-based weak target detection and tracking with range ambiguity

To address the problem of target detection and tracking with the range ambiguous radar in low signal-to-noise ratio environment, a novel weak target detection and tracking algorithm based on the compressed sensing (CS) and multiple model particle filter (MMPF) is proposed. The general solution is that constructing an over-complete atom dictionary according to the echo model of target, obtaining a sparse representation of the target echo signal with the CS method, and conducting a threshold detection with the obtained atom energy distribution and judge whether a target is present or not firstly;roughly extracting the ambiguous measurement of weak target by resolving the least square problem constrained by one-norm minimisation if a target is present then proposing an ambiguous measurement-based MMPF manoeuvring target tracking method, and realising an effective detection and tracking of manoeuvring weak target in the presence of range measurement ambiguity lastly. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can improve the radar performance of target detection and tracking effectively, and succeeds in range ambiguity resolving.

Free space laser communications provides wide bandwidth and high security capabilities to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in order to successfully accomplish Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. A practical implementation of a laser-based video communications payload flown by a small UAS aircraft is described as a proof-of-concept. The two-axis gimbal pointing control algorithm calculates the line-of-sight vector in real-time by using differential GPS and IMU information gathered from the UAS vehicle's autopilot so that the laser transmitter in the airborne payload can accurately track a ground-based photodiode array receiver with a known GPS location. One of the future goals of the project is to move from UAS-to-ground communications to UAS-to-UAS free space laser communications.

This paper proposes a big-span position tracking algorithm based on pre-position time series to determine the user operation intention in virtual environment. Some problems, such as lost subject and inconvenient operation, when a tracker is working on big-scale models, like an airplane or a ship, can't be solved well in an immersive virtual reality system. Based on the moving trajectory and speed of a tracker in a unit of time span, the tracking algorithm is a plus to the mainstream relative position algorithm. The algorithm can tell the magnitude and intensity of a user's operation. It makes it especially convenient to display large-scale models in the CAVE system. Cases are used in this thesis to prove the effectiveness and convenience of this algorithm.

An integrated system for the detection, active tracking and recognition of people in wide outdoor environments will be hereafter discussed Specifically, a static sensor with a wide view is used to detect people inside the environment and to classify their behaviours. As outcome of anomalous activities, an active camera is selected to focus its attention on a particular person. Here, techniques for face detection are employed to determine a region of interest where to extract features used by a tracking algorithm for an autonomous gaze of a PTZ camera. Finally, a face recognition phase will be considered to recognize the person of interest. Results will show how the integrated system is able to detect, track and recognise people inside a tough environment such as a parking lot.

In this paper, a low cost phased array antenna system with nearly 1K microstrip antenna patches for mobile broadcast satellite reception in Ku-band will be introduced. The height of the antenna is only 6 cm and the system has two-dimensional electronic scanning capability. The main objective of this design is to develop phased array system with very low cost components and a minimum number of tracking sensors. A novel beamforming algorithm compensates for the fabrication inaccuracies of the microwave components and variations in their characteristics due to ambient changes.

Using the laser transmission characteristic in atmosphere channel and request for APT. a new type of APT system is designed for real time communication. Work principles of each part are discussed in details. On the basis of a new idea of target location and tracking algorithm, specifically flow and corresponding tracking algorithms is designed in order to accomplish the beam acquistition, pointing and tracking QD model is built for treatment method of error. So the system is viable.

The article presents the development of innovative multimedia shooting detection system solving problems of existing solutions and characterized by four major advantages: algorithm of photometric recalibration, a gun bullet's hit detection video analysis algorithm using thermal imaging camera, IR laser spot tracking algorithm, implementation of ballistics equations. The combination of the aforementioned benefits in one multimedia shooting system, creates a comprehensive and professional solution for tracking aiming point and detection of the realistic impact point using ballistics equations. tracking of aiming point, and not only the impact point allows you to create more advanced scenarios for shooting exercises, and improving training of intervention tactics of uniformed services. Introduced algorithm of photometric recalibration allows using of the economically viable commercially available projectors for systems that require long and intensive use without most of negative impacts on color mapping of existing multi-projector multimedia shooting range systems. The article presents the results of the developed algorithms and their application in real training systems.

This paper presents an image seeker simulation including image processing, servo control, target model, and missile trajectory. We propose a software architecture for a seeker embedded computer. It makes core processing algorithms including image processing reusable at the source level through multiple platforms. The embedded software simulator implemented in C/C++, the servo control simulator implemented in Matlab, and the integrated simulator combined the both simulators based on Windows Component Object Module (COM) technology is presented. The integrated simulation enables developers to practice an interactive study between image processing and servo control about missions including lock-on and target tracking. The implemented simulator can be operated in low cost computer systems. This can be used to algorithm development and analysis at the design, implementation, and evaluation. Simulation examples for a short range ground-to-ground missile seeker are presented.

Vehicle recognition is a key issue of intelligent transportation systems. For traditional color-based vehicle recognition methods, an important problem is that color information of vehicle is susceptible on lumination variation, which will inevitably reduce the recognition accuracy. Another is that there are contrastive interfering vehicles with similar color in same exposure environment, which could result in misrecognition of target vehicle. This paper presents a novel technique for recognizing target vehicle in different lumination scenarios via spectral feature. This method consists of three parts, ambient light spectrum calibration, vehicle spectral reflectivity detection and vehicle recognition. And an prototype system named Selectable Imaging Spectrum Detection System (SISDS), has been setup by this spectral feature-based method. A new combination algorithm is proposed for the detection part which contains the deep learning model YOLOv3 and the discriminant tracking algorithm KCF. Also, a CNN model is designed for improving the recognition accuracy through transforming the spectral data into two-dimension matrix. The experimental results of the SISDS clearly demonstrate that the spectral feature-based method overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional color-based method, and it can not only distinguish the vehicles of different colors in the case of overexposure, but also can recognize the target vehicle from the same color interference vehicles under various lumination, the recognition accuracy is up to 96.4%. Compared with colorbased method, the spectral feature-based method has great lamination robustness, and high recognition accuracy.

Echo tracking is always an important part in the design of radar altimeter, which is required in many ways. But above all. the essential requirement for the tracking is to avoid track losing, furthermore., the tracking precision and algorithm operation scale also are need to be optimized. So all the factors mentioned above have to he considered comprehensively. Till today, various tracking algorithms have been developed for different applications, but the common shortage of them is that they depend on some specific target modes strongly, which leads to poor adaptability to different targets and easily losing tracking. As to this problem, OCOG will be introduced in this paper, which is a good robust tracking algorithm and will be applied into a new type of satellite altimeter. tridimensional imaging radar altimeter, which will be applied in complex environments including sea, seaice and coast.
