The main purpose of this paper is defining a procedure that allows the tracking of the measuring point in notched specimens under static testing, investigated by full field experimental methodologies. One of the main problems is the motion of the measuring zone, associated with its compliance under increasing load. A procedure based on Digital Image Correlation (D.I.C.) aiming to define the stress concentration factor in a dynamic way has been developed. Furthermore, numerous revealing tests based on Thermographic Analysis (T.A.) have been carried out on flat plastics specimens with different hole diameters. The assessed and final tracking procedure could be used to better define the trend of temperature changes during the static tensile test, as well as measuring the stress concentration factors in notched specimens. In this study, we compare two different cyclone-tracking algorithms to detect North Atlantic polar lows, which are very intense mesoscale cyclones. Both approaches include spatial filtering, detection, tracking and constraints specific to polar lows. The first method uses digital bandpass-filtered mean sea level pressure (MSLP) fieldsin the spatial range of 200-600 km and is especially designed for polar lows. The second method also uses a bandpass filter but is based on the discrete cosine transforms (DCT) and can be applied to MSLP and vorticity fields. The latter was originally designed for cyclones in general and has been adapted to polar lows for this study. Both algorithms are applied to the same regional climate model output fields from October 1993 to September 1995 produced from dynamical downscaling of the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data. Comparisons between these two methods show that different filters lead to different numbers and locations of tracks. The DCT is more precise in scale separation than the digital filter and the results of this study suggest that it is more suited for the bandpass filtering of MSLP fields. The detection and tracking parts also influence the numbers of tracks although less critically. After a selection process that applies criteria to identify tracks of potential polar lows, differences between both methods are still visible though the major systems are identified in both.

Background: A smart monitoring system is essential to improve the quality of pig farming. A real-time monitoring system provides growth, health and food information of pigs while the manual monitoring method is inefficient and produces stress on pigs, and the direct contact between human and pig body increases diseases. Methods: In this paper, an ARM-based embedded platform and image recognition algorithms are proposed to monitor the abnormality of pigs. The proposed approach provides complete information on in-house pigs throughout the day such as eating, drinking, and excretion behaviors. The system records in detail each pig's time to eat and drink, and the amount of food and water intake. Results: The experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed method is about 85%, and the effect of the technique has a significant advantage over traditional behavior detection methods. Conclusion: Therefore, the ARM-based behavior recognition algorithm has certain reference significance for the fine group aquaculture industry. The proposed approach can be used for a central monitoring system.

Omnidirectional vision (Omni-vision) has the feature that an extremely wide view can be achieved simultaneously. The omni-image brings a highly unavoidable inherent distortion while it provides hemispherical field of views. In this paper, a method called Spherical Perspective Projection is used for correction of such distorted image. Omni-vision target recognition and tracking with fisheye lens for AGVs appears definite significant since its advantage of acquiring all vision information of the three-dimensional space once. A novel Beacon Model and Omni-vision tracker for mobile robots is described. At present, the research of target model has many different problems, such as outdoor illumination, target veiling, target losing. Specially, outdoor illumination and beacon veiling are the key problems which need an effective method to solve. The new beacon model which features particular topology shape can be recognized in the outdoors with part veiled of the object. In this paper an improved omni-vision object tracking method based on mean shift algorithm is proposed. The mean shift algorithm which is a powerful technique for tracking objects in image sequences with complex background has been proved to be successful for the fast computation and effective tracking problems. We propose a distributed tracking algorithm for evolving states. Here, we consider a distributed network of agents that observe an underlying state through a linear model. The agents can process observation data in a fully distributed manner irrespective of any centralized processing unit. We introduce a novel strategy based on aggregation of information in time at each agent and we employ a time-windowing approach in order to achieve computationally efficient algorithm with enhanced tracking performance. This strategy also performs efficiently in terms of the communication load over certain environments, e.g., where observation data has smaller dimension than state vector. Finally, we demonstrate the performance of the introduced algorithm over several scenarios.

With the wide application of photoelectric equipments in military and civilian areas such as aviation, arms control etc., high-speed image acquisition and real-time processing attracted more and more attention. In order to acquire the accurate position information of beacon in photoelectric tracking system quickly, a embedded high frame-rate CMOS beacon position system based on davinci technology was presented. This system could detect the beacon and acquire its position information with high-speed. Using CMOS sensor MT9M001 as detector, this system could capture image and calculated centroid at different speed. It used centroid algorithm based on double gate object tracking strategy to acquire the spot centroid and can process image of 600x550 resolution at 130fps. The system was characterized by dynamic reconfiguration and high efficiency of computation. It could be applied in photoelectric tracking and space laser communication.

A fast median filter algorithm, which is the most novelty in the system, is used to achieve the image pre-processed. It is known that the pulse radar altimeter is an important assembly in the terrain contour matching system (TERCOM). The total performance of the TERCOM is almost determined by the echo-tracking and height-calculation algorithms embedded in the radar altimeter. The normal Offset Centre of Gravity (OCOG) algorithm and other classical methods based on tracking the half-power point of the rising-edge of the echo could not commendably meet the needs of the TERCOM system. A robust echo-tracking and height-calculation algorithm, the Modified Offset Centre of Gravity (M-OCOG) algorithm, is firstly presented in the paper. On the basis of the characteristic of the complicated echo, the superiority of M-OCOG algorithm at the aspects of echo-tracking ability and height-measuring performance is analyzed in detail. The TERCOM effect is also analyzed by two kinds of quantitative analysis approach here. The feasibility of applying M-OCOG algorithm to TERCOM radar altimeter is confirmed at the end of paper.
