This article presents a novel and mature framework of technical procedures to construct a set of computer-imitated microstructure entities for simulating real microstructure of composite materials. The computer simulation respects not only the similitude of geometry but also analogy of orientations of material constituents available in real composite materials. Two proposed methods to copy a microstructure from a real one or an invented one are introduced in detail. The great importance of visualized simulation and modularized architecture of microstructures is especially elucidated with emphases on how geometric entities and orientational identities of a computer-generated microstructure can be altered, manipulated and combined so as to create an invented microstructure in terms of prescribed demands. The article illustrates that making basic microstructure modules is vital to microstructure architecture. It is also demonstrated by a number of vivid figures that one can make elaborately invented composite microstructures by combining basic modules of different types. The article concludes that with an increase of demands for advanced materials and demands for precise prediction of material properties the development of microstructure designing and tailoring is more and more toward local geometry-orientation-based microstructure construction rather than overall-based microstructure imitation. Software, namely ProDesign, has been developed for the visualized simulation and modularized architecture of microstructure of composite material samples. The software may provide one with a tool of versatile functionality for computer-based microstructure designing, tailoring and experiments toward property-oriented architecture.

Flaws in production designs can be detected by visualized simulation of production process. In this paper, we design a visualized simulation system based on constrained-language interpreter which is applied in CAD simulation process and realize a visualized simulation for an industry automated production line. Considering features of the microinstruction set and constrained-language, the interpreter designed with different control logic is simple, easy to realize and makes the system quite general and flexible. The result of the experiment illustrates that the system based on constrained-language interpreter can properly generate visualized simulation of complicated production lines.

In China, both the mountainous areas and the number of people who live in mountain areas occupy a significant proportion. When production accidents or natural disasters happen, the residents in mountain areas should be evacuated and the evacuation is of obvious importance to public safety. But it is a pity that there are few studies on safety evacuation in rough terrain. The particularity of the complex terrain in mountain areas, however, makes it difficult to study pedestrian evacuation. In this paper, a three-dimensional surface cellular automata model is proposed to numerically simulate the real time dynamic evacuation of residents. The model takes into account topographic characteristics (the slope gradient) of the environment and the biomechanics characteristics (weight and leg extensor power) of the residents to calculate the walking speed. This paper only focuses on the influence of topography and the physiological parameters are defined as constants according to a statistical report. Velocity varies with the topography. In order to simulate the behavior of a crowd with varying movement velocities, and a numerical algorithm is used to determine the time step of iteration. By doing so, a numerical simulation can be conducted in a 3D surface CA model. Moreover, considering residents evacuation around a gas well in a mountain area as a case, a visualization system for a three-dimensional simulation of pedestrian evacuation is developed. In the simulation process, population behaviors of congestion, queuing and collision avoidance can be observed. The simulation results are explained reasonably. Therefore, the model presented in this paper can realize a 3D dynamic simulation of pedestrian evacuation vividly in complex terrain and predict the evacuation procedure and evacuation time required, which can supply some valuable information for emergency management. The utilization of automatic machines controlled numerically is significant for achieving flexible aircraft wing assembly. This paper presents all off-line programming and simulation system for flexible aircraft wing assembly, which is composed of two modules. The off-line programming module generates tool path of drills according to the 3D solid model designed in advance and the accurate position of each part which is provided by optical measuring machine, and then translates it to NC code with taking the process parameters into consideration. This paper details the second module, the visualized simulation module, which validates and optimizes the related assembly process. The scope of simulation covers three aspects, those are, the tool path simulation, NC code simulation and assembly environment simulation. The system is developed based oil CATIA and DELMIA. An example of an aircraft wing assembly process is used to illustrate the detail and advantage of the system.

A quantitative evaluation for the display uniformity in a directional backlight system is proposed. Motional uniformity with multi-viewing position is analyzed to quantify the display quality, with a ray-tracing model based visualized simulation assisting. Display performance on motional uniformity is discussed and a solution is finally proposed to improve the uniformity, optimizing the 3D display system.
