The cell image segmentation has very high practical significance in medical diagnosis. But the cell image has the problems of accretive cells, incoherent cell boundary, and the internal cavity that make it difficult to image segmentation. In this paper, a watershed algorithm based on distance transform is proposed to solve images of cells adhesion. Firstly, image enhancement is carried out as the image preprocessing, then the OTSU threshold segmentation is used to rough segment the image, finally the watershed algorithm by optimizing the seed points is adopt for fine segmentation. Experiment results showed that the proposed algorithm is effectively solved the problems of cell adhesion and over-segmentation, the image segmentation accuracy is more than the traditional watershed algorithm, and remained the cell shape in maximum extent. Therefore, the watershed segmentation based on distance transformation transform is practical according to the accretive cell images.

A Vibe improved algorithm based on HIS color space and a watershed algorithm are used to obtain the smoke contours. The Vibe algorithm is used to extract smoke anomalies and smoke inaccuracies. In this paper, the classical Vibe algorithm is described, and the existing problems in the smoke detection are analyzed. A Vibe algorithm is proposed to change the gray color space and the HIS color space by using the color feature information and Vibe. The influence of light and shadow on the smoke extraction noise is reduced by using the difference of pixel value based on Euclidean distance. The problem of imprecision of smoke caused by Vibe algorithm is analyzed by using the watershed algorithm. Finally, the proposed method is evaluated by Barnich experiment standard. The experimental results show that the proposed method can extract the smoke profile more accurately and has good robustness.

So the Vincent watershed algorithm as well as the Inver watershed algorithm is designed to do segmentation experiments about stomach epidermis tumors. A lot of experiments about several kinds' images were done to build the right segmentation theory. The conclusion of these experiments show that these two algorithms could get good segmentation results while the image has few conglutinated ***, the Inver algorithm may get better result than the Vincent algorithm while the image has many conglutinated areas. As a defect of the Inver algorithm, it may take many very small areas after segmentation. Finally, boundary tracing algorithm is designed to obtain the boundaries of tumor cells.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major health concern globally, known for its high prevalence and mortality rate. It typically arises from precancerous growths called polyps within the colon or rectum. Early detection and removal of these polyps are crucial for preventing CRC and improving patient outcomes. Traditional deep learning models require large amounts of labeled data, making them costly and time-consuming to develop. To address this, we present an innovative self-supervised learning (SSL) approach for colorectal polyp segmentation, which integrates watershed algorithm-enhanced pseudo-label generation with a novel parallel pretraining method. This approach leverages dual-task pretraining on image reconstruction and pseudo-segmentation to extract more relevant feature representations. Validated on the Kvasir-SEG dataset using three different models, our methodology demonstrates significant improvements in segmentation accuracy and efficiency, particularly in low-data scenarios, suggesting broader applicability in medical image analysis.

Moving shadow detection is an important task in computer vision, with applications several fields, such as surveillance, video conference, visual tracking and object recognition. In this paper, we present a Spatio-Temporal based Moving Shadow Detection (STMSD) method, The main idea is: according to the gradient change of current image, we utilize the watershed algorithm to achieve adaptive segmentation foreground sub-regions;Then, the changes in texture of adjacent video frames and current video frame and background are extracted, and each sub-region is classified in terms of texture feature to obtain the final moving shadow and target area. Extensive experiments demonstrate that STMSD is superior to some well-known methods especially pixel-based methods. Especially, our method exhibits much better performance compared with fixed block method, which can maintain the texture consistency in one region adequately.
