We present a web-repository (SYNTHESIS 0.2, SYNTHEtic SeISmograms database) designed to archive and distribute synthetic waveforms computed by physicbased models. The structure of the database derives from the ITalian ACcelerometric Archive (ITACA Working Group in ITalian ACcelerometric Archive, version 2.1, 2016. doi: 10.13127/ITACA/2.1), devoted to archive and distribute recorded strong motion data. To date, SYNTHESIS includes more than 4500 simulated accelerograms associated to earthquake scenarios of either occurred events or possible future events. The database also includes information about kinematic rupture models and propagation medium related to the synthetic waveforms. The main features of the SYNTHESIS web-portal for dissemination of synthetics are here illustrated. A wide range of key fields enables the user to interactively retrieve simulated waveforms, modeling parameters and information on simulation sites. A range of display options allows users to view data in different frameworks, to extract and download synthetic waveforms and to display maps of selected peak ground motion parameters. SYNTHESIS is a prototype designed to fulfill specific needs of two Italian projects, and developed with the aim of promoting the use of simulated waveforms for hazard analysis. Ground motion simulations can be employed in a variety of applications, such as: (1) to evaluate shaking scenarios for seismic risk mitigation;(2) to define seismic inputs for site response or structural response analyses;(3) to integrate observed data for the calibration of ground motion prediction equations and (4) to evaluate the different components of the ground motion variability.

Mining semantic relations between concepts underlies many fundamental tasks including natural language processing, web mining, information retrieval, and web search. In order to describe the semantic relation between concepts, in this paper, the problem of automatically generating spatial temporal relation graph (STRG) of semantic relation between concepts is studied. The spatial temporal relation graph of semantic relation between concepts includes relation words, relation sentences, relation factor, relation graph, faceted feature, temporal feature, and spatial feature. The proposed method can automatically generate the spatial temporal relation graph (STRG) of semantic relation between concepts, which is different from the manually generated annotation repository such as WordNet and Wikipedia. Moreover, the proposed method does not need any prior knowledge such as ontology or the hierarchical knowledge base such as WordNet. Empirical experiments on real dataset show that the proposed algorithm is effective and accurate.

The temporal annotations can help users to learn and understand the unfamiliar or new emerged relations between concepts. A general method is proposed to generate temporal learning of a relation between concepts by constructing its relation words, relation sentences, relation graph, and relation factor. With the rapid increase in demand of digital information via internet, it becomes imperative for search engines to serve up to date information in response to user query. A web crawler plays a vital role in maintaining local cache of search engine. Today, the biggest challenge for web crawler is how to harness fresh information in its local cache of n constantly changing web pages. These web pages often possess dynamic creation and updation cycle. Moreover, the resources for downloading possible updates are limited. This problem is formulated as non-deterministic optimization problem. Many attempts had been made by researchers in past to solve it. But most of existing techniques work well for small value of n and often intractable for large corpus. The paper presents an optimal solution to deal with this non- deterministic problem for large data. The experimental results show that technique achieves promising results as compared to existing crawler.

Remote and virtual labs (RVLs) are widely used by science education teachers in their daily teaching practice. This has led to a plethora of RVLs that are offered with or without cost. In order to organise them and facilitate their search and findability, several RVL web-based repositories have been operated. As a result, a key open challenge is to design and implement recommender systems that support science teachers in finding and selecting appropriate RVLs based on core pedagogical elements of their learning designs and their own information and communication technology (ICT)-supported teaching competence profiles. In response to this challenge, we propose a recommender system for supporting learning design driven RVLs recommendations taking into consideration teachers' profiling elements related to the ICT-supported teaching competences for using RVLs. To achieve this, we propose an instantiation of the UNESCO ICT competency framework for teachers for the context of using RVL and capitalise on our previously proposed metadata schema for describing RVLs, which includes core elements of a learning design and teachers' required ICT-supported teaching competences. Our evaluation results based on a user study, highlight the high level of ranking accuracy of our proposed recommender system and support its capacity to facilitate science teachers in selecting appropriate RVLs.

There is a growing attention, in the research communities of political economics, onto the potential of text analytics in classifying documents with economic content. This interest extends the data analytics approach that has been the traditional base for economic theory with scientific perspective. To devise a general method for prediction applicability, we identify some phases of a methodology and perform tests on a large well-structured repository of resource contracts containing documents related to resources. The majority of these contracts involve mining resources. In this paper we prove that, by the usage of text analytics measures, we can cluster these documents on three indicators: fairness of the contract content, transparency of the document themselves, and applicability of the clauses of the contract intended to guarantee execution on an international basis. We achieve these results, consistent with a gold-standard test obtained with human experts, using text similarity based on the basic notions of bag of words, the index tf-idf, and three distinct cut-off measures.
