Design and assessment of a web-based educational electronic system for non-practical nursing skills development among nursing students

BackgroundDespite the importance of non-practical nursing activities, there is currently a lack of a suitable framework for their use among nurses and nursing students in Iran. This study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate a web-based educational electronic system for developing non-practical nursing skills (ESNPNSD).MethodsThis sequential methodological study was conducted in three phases: (1) identifying the Minimum Data Set (MDS) elements, (2) designing, developing, and implementing the system, and (3) evaluating the ESNPNSD. The system was assessed by 72 nursing students from two academic semesters, selected through convenience sampling. Following validation by experts during a Delphi phase, the ESNPNSD was developed and evaluated using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The UEQ scores ranged from - 3 to + 3 and included categories of normal, positive, and negative evaluations. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 18. Ethical considerations were fully *** the first phase, 136 items were identified across 12 categories. After formal and content validity checks, 68% and 55% of the items achieved content validity coefficients of 1 and 0.87, respectively, qualifying them for inclusion in the system. The Cronbach's alpha score for all items in the system was 0.95. The ESNPNSD system scored averages of 1.75 for attractiveness, 1.46 for dependability, 1.58 for efficiency, 1.74 for novelty, and 1.23 for *** ESNPNSD has the potential to support the development of non-practical nursing skills and facilitate patient safety by providing structured educational resources and interactive learning experiences. However, further studies with objective assessments of learning outcomes are needed to validate its impact *** trial numbernot applicable.

Crop diseases pose a serious danger to global food security and cause large financial losses in the agricultural sector. In order to provide accurate diagnosis and treatment, this study introduces a web-based crop disease detection system that integrates environmental data and sophisticated picture processing. The system analyzes leaf pictures and uses convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to classify plant illnesses. To improve diagnostic precision, environmental elements including soil characteristics, temperature, and humidity are also taken into account. Farmers input leaf photos using the system's user-friendly web interface, and they will receive personalized treatment recommendations along with real-time disease diagnosis findings. This system's sturdy design guarantees scalability and accessibility, especially in rural and resource-constrained locations, and is inspired by earlier research combining ML and AI for agricultural applications. This approach aims to boost output, reduce crop losses, and promote sustainable agricultural practices by providing useful insights and automating disease detection. The multilingual solution ensures inclusion for varied farming communities by automating disease identification and offering actionable insights. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper introduces a web-based information management system which has been set up as a collaborative facility to allow key environmental and ecological information access for the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) in Kenting, Taiwan. The coral reef ecosystem degradation in Kenting has concerned both public and private sectors, for which a LTER learn was formed to investigate the problem. A multi-functional web-based system integrates diverse data collections and analyses efforts of team members during the project span. It also provides authorities with effective information and knowledge for sustainable coral reef management. Three information technologies, web Database Management system (DBMS), web geographic information system (GIS). and Data Warehousing (DW), successfully implement (lie complex system. web DBMS is to provide the fundamental data transaction and query, while DW is to Support advanced data query by aggregating available datasets. web GIS, on the other hand, facilitates map-based spatial data Visualization and query. Detailed discussions regarding system data integrations and operational functions are presented.

A Development of a web-based and User-Centered Process Analysis system for Quality Improvement

In order to manage and control quality of the products in a real-time manner, statistical process control methodology, one of the most popular quality control activities, is utilized as a software service in many manufacturing industries. However;these quality control systems are not affordable to small and medium sized industries due to their expense in installation and difficulty in the systems. To reduce installation cost and difficulty of the systems, this research paper suggests web-based statistical process control system with user-centered design. Although number of non-traditional and web-based SPC systems exists, they tend to focus their designs to either beginners or experts of SPC system. The suggested system, PAS, aims to develop the system to be compatible with frequently used browsers and acceptable in both beginners and experts. Lastly, it accepts diverse forms of data so that it attempts to support data from industry to be used directly to the system.

A conceptual approach for development of educational web-based e-testing system

The paper describes a conceptual approach for development of educational web-based e-testing system. The system aims to improve the effectiveness of the learning process by providing features for flexible adjusting of the testing process. The tutors and learners can interact with the e-testing system by choosing different options for testing - easy questions, advanced questions, sequential or shuffle order, random generated questions within given range. The e-testing system can be used by students for self-testing or by tutors for official examination. When used for official examination the test results information is sent to the examiner by e-mail. The system files are stored on the server-side and are accessible through web-browser. A prototype of e-testing system illustrating the proposed approach is developed by means of HTML and JavaScript languages. It was used for "C Programming Language" course students self-testing and official examination. The experimental results demonstrated that the implementation of the proposed approach is quite helpful to facilitate the understanding and implementation of teachers' attitudes toward web-based e-testing tools application. Power systems are a crucial infrastructure to ensure a sustainable supply of electricity and are thus important for industrial, commercial and domestic consumption. As an interactive and visualizing enabling technology, the digital twin can be effectively applied to the training and education of students and operators in power systems. This article discusses a web-based communication system of power systems (CSPS) constructed with digital twin technologies, and provides a digital replica of the communication system and process as well as the remote monitoring and control of the physical system, the detailed design and implementation of which are presented. The functionalities and uses of the digital twin CSPS are also provided. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed digital twin CSPS, a case study with optical fiber line fault detection that emulates a real scenario is conducted, which includes remote control-based digital twin interactions and visualization.

The construction industry has several phases in which a variety of stakeholders are involved. As construction projects are becoming larger;more complex and more diverse, the design phase has become a more important factor for the success of projects than ever before. However, it is considered that most of the design work carried out in the actual design process is intangible. Such recognition assumes that the design phase is more unsystematic and arbitrary, which finally weakens the competitiveness of the whole project. In order to solve these problems, this study developed an integrated design management system (IDMS), which consists of 8 modules including the design document, schedule, quality, and building permit management. This study is also intended to validate the effectiveness of the newly developed system. Two characteristics have made this research significantly different from previous studies. Firstly, the users of the system including architects and other design professionals were continuously involved from the development phase to the validation phase. The other unique characteristic is that the actual design project was applied as a test bed in the final validation stage. The research team applied the actual data which had been generated during each business process, and the effectiveness of the system implementation was verified. The authors expect that such a user-centered approach enables the system to be more robust and effective.

The wisdom of crowds in action: Forecasting epidemic diseases with a web-based prediction market system

Background: The quest for an effective system capable of monitoring and predicting the trends of epidemic diseases is a critical issue for communities worldwide. With the prevalence of Internet access, more and more researchers today are using data from both search engines and social media to improve the prediction accuracy. In particular, a prediction market system (PMS) exploits the wisdom of crowds on the Internet to effectively accomplish relatively high accuracy. Objective: This study presents the architecture of a PMS and demonstrates the matching mechanism of logarithmic market scoring rules. The system was implemented to predict infectious diseases in Taiwan with the wisdom of crowds in order to improve the accuracy of epidemic forecasting. Methods: The PMS architecture contains three design components: database clusters, market engine, and web applications. The system accumulated knowledge from 126 health professionals for 31 weeks to predict five disease indicators: the confirmed cases of dengue fever, the confirmed cases of severe and complicated influenza, the rate of enterovirus infections, the rate of influenza-like illnesses, and the confirmed cases of severe and complicated enterovirus infection. Results: based on the winning ratio, the PMS predicts the trends of three out of five disease indicators more accurately than does the existing system that uses the five-year average values of historical data for the same weeks. In addition, the PMS with the matching mechanism of logarithmic market scoring rules is easy to understand for health professionals and applicable to predict all the five disease indicators. Conclusions: The PMS architecture of this study affords organizations and individuals to implement it for various purposes in our society. The system can continuously update the data and improve prediction accuracy in monitoring and forecasting the trends of epidemic diseases. A web-based Decision Support system for Dietary Analysis and Recommendations

Objectives: Because of lack of integrated databases for Chinese menus and the need for nutrition information by dietitians in Taiwan, we developed a web-based platform for dietary analysis and recommendations. Methods: The fuzzy decision model was utilized to develop a web-based support system that searches food composition databases, calculates dietary intake, and provides the guidance for decision making in nutrition counseling. Results: The online support system generated menu-or food-based recommendations using a fuzzy decision model. The homogeneity of food composition between five selected menus generated by the fuzzy decision model in a randomly selective case was strongly correlated with a correlation coefficient of 0.31-0.99. The correlation coefficients were 0.42-0.45 and 0.13-0.44 between food composition of five most correlated menus or five selected menus generated by the fuzzy decision model and nutrient requirements computed by the fuzzy decision model, respectively. The most correlated menus and the menus generated by the fuzzy decision model were also similar. Conclusions: The recommended menus generated by the fuzzy decision model are considerably reliable and valid, and the online support system for dietary analysis and recommendations can provide a web-based and decision-making tool for dietitians in Taiwan.

Laser marking system for light guide panel using design of experiment and web-based prototyping

A light guide panel (LGP) is an element of the liquid crystal display (LCD) back light unit (BLU), which is used for display devices. In this study, the laser marking process is applied to the fabrication of light guide panels as the new fabrication process. In order to obtain a light guide panel which has high luminance and uniformity, four principal parameters such as power, scanning speed, ratio of line gap, and number of line were selected. A web-based design tool was developed to generate patterns of light guide panel via the network, and the tool may assist the designer to develop various prototype patterns. Topcon-BM7 was used for luminance measurement of each specimen with 100 mm x 100 mm area. By Taguchi method, optimized levels of each parameter were found, and luminance of 3523 cd/cm(2) and uniformity of 92% were achieved using the laser machined BLU. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd.
