One-dimensional modeling of magnetotelluric (MT) data has been performed using an online application on a web-based virtual private server. The application was developed with the Python language using the Django framework with HTML and CSS components. The input data, including the apparent resistivity and phase as a function of period or frequency with standard deviation, can be entered through an interactive web page that can be freely accessed at https://***. The subsurface models, represented by resistivity as a function of depth, are iteratively improved by changing the model parameters, such as the resistivity and the layer depth, based on the observed apparent resistivity and phase data. The output of the application displayed on the screen presents resistivity as a function of depth and includes the RMS error for each iteration. Synthetic and real data were used in comparative tests of the application's performance, and it is shown that the application developed accurate subsurface resistivity models. Hence, this application can be used for practical one-dimensional modeling of MT data. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

ObjectiveEfficiently managing sea lice on salmon farms through active surveillance, crucial for lice abundance estimation, is challenging due to the need for effective sampling schemes. To address this, we developed an application that considers infestation levels, farm structure, and management protocols, enhancing the precision of sampling strategies for sea louse abundance ***-based methods are valuable for estimating suitable sample sizes in complex studies where standard formulae are inadequate. We introduce FishSampling, an open web-based application tailored to determine precise sample sizes for specific scenarios and *** model incorporates factors such as sea lice abundance, farm pen numbers, potential clustering effects among these pens, and the desired confidence level. Simulation outcomes within this application provide practical advice on how to decide on the number of fish and pens to sample, under varying levels of assumed *** approach can be used across the salmon aquaculture sector to improve sampling strategies for sea lice abundance estimation and balance surveillance costs against health objectives. Impact statement The open-source application FishSampling enhances sea lice monitoring on salmon farms with a novel simulation-based approach for sample size determination. It offers precise estimates of sea lice abundance, crucial for regulatory purposes, and aids in the efficient allocation of sampling resources.

This paper presents web-based application for analysis of electric and electronic circuit. The application is based on PHP scripts and use Spice and Maple with PraCAn package as a computation engine. Continuous-time linear and nonlinear circuits as well as periodically switched linear (PSI) circuits can be analyzed. Results can be obtained in symbolic form for case of linear circuits. Description of the circuit can be entered through graphical schematic editor. It is a,lava applet for netlist creation. The whole system is developed at the Department of Circuit Theory, for research and teaching support.

This paper presents web-based graphical schematic editor for analysis of electric and electronic circuits. Continuous-time linear and nonlinear circuits as well as periodically switched linear circuits can be analysed in this editor. In case of linear circuits, results can be obtained in symbolic form. The editor uses Spice OPUS and Maple software with PraCAn package as a computation engine. All circuits created in this editor can be turned into functional blocks that can be subsequently edited through programming code. The editor contains a model of ideal, linear and nonlinear operational amplifier. The whole system is developed at the Department of Circuit Theory, for engineering education and research support.

Northern Ireland faces a considerable challenge in adequately supporting special education needs with limited resources for effective learning and communication. Despite efforts, a significant number of non-verbal individuals grapple with communication barriers, both in face-to-face interactions and digital communication. This paper presents an initial prototype of a web-based application solution that supports non-verbal and limited communication. The proposed solution provides an accessible, user-friendly platform that enhances the ability of individuals with non-verbal and limited communication to communicate effectively in both the natural world and in the digital environment. The usability of this initial prototype was evaluated by relatives and carers of non-verbal individuals using the System Usability Scale (SUS) to identify any aspects that could be improved before presenting a first version to potential users. Results of an average SUS score of 84.8 confirm the user-friendly and intuitive features of the web-based application and highlight some usability aspects that could be improved in the next version of the solution.

A web-based application for automated quantification of chemical gradients induced in microfluidic devices

Advances in microfabrication have allowed the development and popularization of microfluidic devices, which are powerful tools to recreate three-dimensional (3-D) biologically relevant in vitro models. These microenvironments are usually generated by using hydrogels and induced chemical gradients. Going further, computational models enable, after validation, the simulation of such conditions without the necessity of real experiments, thus saving costs and time. In this work we present a web-based application that allows, based on a previous numerical model, the assessment of different chemical gradients induced within a 3-D extracellular matrix. This application enables the estimation of the spatio-temporal chemical distribution inside microfluidic devices, by defining a first set of parameters characterizing the chip geometry, and a second set characterizing the diffusion properties of the hydrogel-based matrix. The simulated chemical concentration profiles generated within a synthetic hydrogel are calculated remotely on a server and returned to the website in less than 3 min, thus offering a quick automatic quantification to any user. To ensure the day-to-day applicability, user requirements were investigated prior to tool development, pre-selecting some of the most common geometries. The tool is freely available online, after user registration, on http://***/insilico_cell under the software tab. Four different microfluidic device geometries were defined to study the dependence of the geometrical parameters onto the gradient formation processes. The numerical predictions demonstrate that growth factor diffusion within 3-D matrices strongly depends not only on the physics of diffusion, but also on the geometrical parameters that characterizes these complex devices. Objective: To evaluate the use of a web-based application that assists in medication management during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Design: Multicenter randomized controlled trial. Setting: University hospitals. Patient(s): Women undergoing IVF. Intervention(s): Subjects were recruited to assess quality of life during IVF and were randomly assigned to use either the OnTrack application to assist with medication management or conventional medication management. Surveys were administered at four time points. Main Outcome Measure(s): Medication surplus, incidence of medication errors, amount of patient-initiated communication, and patient satisfaction. Result(s): A total of 153 women participated. The average number of portal messages and telephone calls was similar between groups. Twelve patients in the control group (12/69, 17.4%) and 8 patients in the case group (8/72, 11.1%) made medication errors. There were similar amounts of medication surplus in the two groups. The estimated cost of medication waste was $2,578 +/- $2,056 in the control group and $2,554 +/- $1,855 in the case group. Patient satisfaction was similar between the two groups. Conclusion(s): Use of a web-based application did not decrease medication errors, medication surplus, or patient-initiated messages. Many patients had a medication surplus, which can be an area of cost reduction during IVF. Clinical Trial Registration Number: *** NCT03383848. (Fertil Sterile 2021;116:793-800. BackgroundChild abuse is one of the major health and social problems in the world and has severe short-term and long-term consequences on children's psychological, social and physical functioning. One of the effective strategies to control and prevent child abuse is training parent through web-based applications. The aim of this study is to design and evaluation of child abuse web-based application for parent education and *** study is an applied-developmental study that performed in Razi Educational and Therapeutic Center in Tabriz. The study consisted of three main phases. The requirements assessment and design phases were completed between November 2022 and February 2023. The research community was parents referring to Razi Center and convenience sampling was used to select the samples. In firststage, a questionnaire was designed by searching in library sources and consulting with specialists for needs assessment and application design. The questionnaire was completed by psychiatric specialists, health information management and health information ***, the usability of designed application was evaluated with the participation of 30 parents and *** on the identified information elements and capabilities, a child abuse web-based application was designed. application capabilities were such as concepts of child abuse, prevention and treatment strategies, parenting skills, childrens behavioral disorders, child abuse laws and interaction with clinical specialists. Presently, many online sellers prefer to use pricing strategies for selling a large number of products. The central idea of these strategies is to encourage buyers to buy in greater quantities. Vendors often charge a buyer high prices if they buy products separately, but they might offer a bundle or a set of mixed products for a discounted price. As we can see in today's markets, this method attracts the most price-conscious of buyers to purchase more goods than they are expected at the first time. Buyers can be trapped easily, and they either have to choose individual items or limiting their options. In order to cope with this vendor strategy, buyers have consolidated the individual demand to receive the best possible price. In this paper, the heuristic algorithm, called genetic algorithm, is employed to search for the optimized solution for a group of buyers in terms of the profit for the group of buyers. Hence, the proposed algorithm was implemented as a web-based application forming an optimized group of buyers to demonstrate how it could employ in the real world.

In this paper we describe a web-based tool combining several hierarchy visualization techniques. Those run in a browser and support the communication of hierarchy data that is omnipresent in many application fields like biology, software engineering, sports, or in algorithmic approaches like hierarchical clustering. To this end we provide node-link diagrams, Pythagoras trees, circular, as well as 3D treemaps also called 3D step-trees to give several visual perspectives on the same data and to improve data exploration tasks. The visualizations are interactive and linked, while the tool is available online, making it easily accessible for people all around the world without installing extra software or relying on additional libraries and frameworks. Hierarchy datasets can be uploaded to a server and shared with others. The visualizations were primarily implemented using JavaScript, and more specifically, rendered using the *** library. We illustrate the usefulness of the interactive visualization by applying them to the NCBI taxonomy and the Influenza dataset.
