Efficiency Evaluation of web-based learning on Multinational: A Case Study on Financial Industry

based on the web-based learning efficiency of Taiwan's financial industry investing in China in 20102012, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Sensitivity Analysis, and Malmquist Productivity Index are integrated to measure the total efficiency (TE), pure technical efficiency (PTE), and scale efficiency (SE) of eleven banks which invested in China for further web-based learning improvement. The empirical results show that Mega International Commercial Bank and Bank of Taiwan present the best total efficiency (1.00), followed by Cooperative Bank (0.93);Mega International Commercial Bank and Bank of Taiwan reveal the best pure technical efficiency (1.00), followed by Land Bank (0.92);and, Mega International Commercial Bank and Bank of Taiwan appear the best scale efficiency (1.00), followed by Cathay United Bank (0.85). From Malmquist Productivity Index, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Mega International Commercial Bank, and Bank of Taiwan show improvement on pure technical efficiency change that the web-based learning effectiveness is enhanced.

web-based learning is evolving rapidly as traditional search engines are complemented by Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI technologies. This evolution offers new opportunities, such as automated information synthesis and personalized learning experiences. However, this also presents new challenges, including the need for learners to be aware of potential biases and misinformation in AI-generated content, and to maintain focus and depth in their learning journeys. The Search as learning (SAL) field investigates how individuals learn through web interactions, examining the interplay between search behaviors, information synthesis, and learning outcomes. SAL research aims to measure, predict, and support effective learning strategies in modern web environments. IWILDS'25 provides an interdisciplinary platform to explore these dynamics, bringing together researchers and practitioners from information retrieval, education, psychology, and related fields. This full-day workshop will feature keynotes, paper presentations, and discussions on advancing SAL research and practice.

Certificates are very important to the students of professional and Technician University. Hence, it is a key issue to create a ubiquitous environment which students can learn in anywhere and anytime. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to construct a web-based learning system on campus through some mobile devices. We integrate several homogeneous or heterogeneous learning management systems (LMS) into this system. The users can login the system from a single sign on portal. He/She can choose different contents of learning material from this system. There will be a corresponding LMS to provide the needed content for each user. By means the network, the user only needs to concern what he/she really wants to learn. He/She does not need to concern which LMS serves as his/her counterpart and what it can provide. In this study, we design some electronic books which can be used on a personal computer or any mobile device. The evaluation mechanism is also provided to serve the user a variety of learning way. An advanced learning evaluation scheme is designed to enhance the user some extra trial and error trainings. An intelligent methodology is adopted in this evaluation system. We expected that this system can do some favor to the learner through this web-based platform and enjoy the ubiquitous learning.

Technology integration in education has become essential to overcome the limitations of existing systems. Existing techniques frequently confine learning to in-class lectures, limiting access to different materials and flexibility in learning. The proposed SRGEC IT Era system transforms education by offering a user-friendly web-based platform to address that. The solution removes the restrictions on physical attendance by providing specialized courses, videos, and resources based on individual interests. It is built using ReactJS, Python, and Firebase, ensuring seamless functionality and scalability. Content curation uses Natural Language Processing algorithms to provide relevant resources, while user interaction elements increase engagement through tailored recommendations. The evaluation results show considerable gains in user happiness, learning outcomes, and engagement indicators compared to traditional methods. With more excellent completion rates, an increase in average test scores from 75% to 85%, and improved user experiences, the Proposed system represents a disruptive approach to democratizing education and empowering learners worldwide.

Computer numerical control (CNC) machines play a central role in modern manufacturing. CNC machining skills provide high-paying manufacturing jobs to graduates of engineering and technology. Hands-on laboratory instruction is essential for effective student learning in the area of CAD/CAM/Manufacturing Technology, but the high cost of commercial and even educational CNC machines like mills and lathes constrains the scope of instruction in CNC machining. In this paper, an inexpensive two-axis lathe prototype is developed using off-the-shelf materials and components, open source hardware, and open source CAM and CNC software. The machine can be adapted for large scale use in engineering colleges, polytechnics, and industrial training institutes (ITIs). To make the CNC learning even more affordable, accessible and less resource-intensive, a web-based learning platform for using the lathe is developed.

The purpose of this study is to develop and compare two different techniques of adaptive presentation techniques (adaptive multimedia/ frames). Moreover, this study aimed at investigating the effect of both treatments on improving learning outcomes. The participants are two experimental groups: Group A (n = 35) were taught content through the multimedia-based technique, and group B (n = 35) were taught content through the frame-based technique. The results showed that the adaptive presentation techniques have an effect on enhancing students' learning outcomes. Also, the comparison of the techniques showed a significant difference between the mean scores of the two groups in favor of group A. The study concluded that the adaptive multimedia-based technique showed higher impact relatively than the frame-based technique. In light of these results, it is recommended that an expansion of the use of web-based adaptive presentation techniques WAPT for enhancing students' learning in higher education is needed.

The modern anesthesiologist's manual: the development and maintenance of an anesthesia case reference application

Anesthesia clinicians care for patients undergoing a wide range of procedures, making access to reliable references crucial. However, existing resources have key limitations. This technical report describes the development of an in-house anesthesia case reference application designed for use in a tertiary academic hospital. Additionally, it details our experiences in maintaining this system over a 22-month period and compares this system to alternative resources. Utilizing JavaScript and the React library, we developed a cross-platform perioperative reference application. Over fifty articles, encompassing anesthetic considerations for various surgical disciplines, have been created. Furthermore, we conducted a preliminary analysis of analytics data. In the 22 months since the application's inception, the application has garnered over 22,000 views from local users. While there are more than 150 registered users, the number of unregistered users accessing the application on the hospital network remains unknown. Notably, 70% of users accessed the application through a mobile device. The most popular articles centered around procedures with diverse and specific surgeon preferences. Currently, the reported case reference application is routinely utilized by anesthesia clinicians at our institution. Future endeavors will concentrate on establishing a robust content management workflow to broaden the coverage of topics.

Measurement of the Joule-Thomson Coefficient of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide to Demonstrate LabVIEW, Electronic Data Acquisition, and Experimental Design

A novel approach to exposing students to electronic data acquisition, LabVIEW programming, and experimental design is described herein. This is achieved through the measurement of the Joule-Thomson coefficient of nitrogen and carbon dioxide using a student-built apparatus with slight and convenient adjustments to a classic literature apparatus. A detailed pedagogical approach in the instruction of LabVIEW is described, which may be performed at home, in a computer laboratory, or the physical chemistry laboratory depending on the availability of resources. Additionally, a range of levels of inquiry are described for the instructional mode. Finally, using the methodology described past student groups have been able to determine the Joule-Thomson coefficient of carbon dioxide to be 1.023 +/- 0.134 K bar(-1), respectively, which is in excellent agreement with the literature.

A Closer Look into Recent Video-based learning Research: A Comprehensive Review of Video Characteristics, Tools, Technologies, and learning Effectiveness

People increasingly use videos on the web for learning, be it for daily tasks in formal or informal educational settings. To enhance this type of learning, scientists are continuously conducting experiments, proposing guidelines, analyzing data, and researching artificial intelligence methods for tool development. In this comprehensive review, we analyze 257 articles (using PRISMA guidelines) on video-based learning from a technological perspective for the period from 2016 to 2021. One of the aims is to identify video characteristics that support learning as explored by previous research. based on our analysis, we suggest a taxonomy that organizes the video characteristics and contextual aspects into eight categories: (1) audio features, (2) visual features, (3) textual features, (4) instructor behavior, (5) learners' activities (play, pause, etc.), (6) interactive features (quizzes, etc.), (7) production style, and (8) instructional design. Also, we identify four representative methodological approaches: (1) tool support of video-based learning, (2) controlled experiments, (3) data analysis studies, and (4) design guidelines for learning videos. We find that the most explored characteristics are textual features followed by visual features, learners' activities, and interactive features. Tools that aid learning through videos frequently utilize text from transcripts, video frames, and images. The learner's activity is heavily explored through log files in data analysis studies, and interactive features are frequently scrutinized in controlled experiments. As further contributions, we contrast research findings on how video characteristics affect learning effectiveness, report on tasks and technologies used to develop tools, and summarize design guideline trends to produce learning videos. Our findings provide actionable insights for the design of intelligent educational systems that better support video-based learning.
