FANTEN: a new web-based interface for the analysis of magnetic anisotropy-induced NMR data

Pseudocontact shifts (PCSs) and residual dipolar couplings (RDCs) arising from the presence of paramagnetic metal ions in proteins as well as RDCs due to partial orientation induced by external orienting media are nowadays routinely measured as a part of the NMR characterization of biologically relevant systems. PCSs and RDCs are becoming more and more popular as restraints (1) to determine and/or refine protein structures in solution, (2) to monitor the extent of conformational heterogeneity in systems composed of rigid domains which can reorient with respect to one another, and (3) to obtain structural information in protein-protein complexes. The use of both PCSs and RDCs proceeds through the determination of the anisotropy tensors which are at the origin of these NMR observables. A new user-friendly web tool, called FANTEN (Finding ANisotropy TENsors), has been developed for the determination of the anisotropy tensors related to PCSs and RDCs and has been made freely available through the WeNMR (http://***:8080) gateway. The program has many new features not available in other existing programs, among which the possibility of a joint analysis of several sets of PCS and RDC data and the possibility to perform rigid body minimizations.

StaR-LIF: State-resolved laser-induced fluorescence modeling for diatomic molecules

This study introduced a new model for quantitative analysis of the state-resolved laser-induced fluorescence signal of diatomic molecules, namely StaR-LIF. This model is built upon a master equation of the collisionalradiative transfer processes, which incorporated the latest data on the collisional energy transfer rates between individual spin- and parity-resolved rovibronic quantum levels, together with the most recent updates on the energy levels, line strengths and broadening/shift parameters of the relevant absorption and fluorescence transitions. To facilitate the use of this model, a web-based graphic user interface has been developed and made available at https://***. Example applications of the current model have been demonstrated for NO, OH and CH, including parametric studies on the effects of variable pulse width and saturating excitation, as well as the temporal evolution of fluorescence spectrum during collisional transfer. The StaR-LIF model can provide quantitative modeling and analysis capabilities over a wide range of gasdynamic and excitation conditions, and promises to be useful in future LIF studies of complex reacting flows.

Development of a Fleet Management System for Multiple Robots' Task Allocation Using Deep Reinforcement Learning

This paper presents a fleet management system (FMS) for multiple robots, utilizing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for dynamic task allocation and path planning. The proposed approach enables robots to autonomously optimize task execution, selecting the shortest and safest paths to target points. A deep Q-network (DQN)-based algorithm evaluates path efficiency and safety in complex environments, dynamically selecting the optimal robot to complete each task. Simulation results in a Gazebo environment demonstrate that Robot 2 achieved a path 20% shorter than other robots while successfully completing its task. Training results reveal that Robot 1 reduced its cost by 50% within the first 50 steps and stabilized near-optimal performance after 1000 steps, Robot 2 converged after 4000 steps with minor fluctuations, and Robot 3 exhibited steep cost reduction, converging after 10,000 steps. The FMS architecture includes a browser-based interface, *** server, rosbridge server, and ROS for robot control, providing intuitive monitoring and task assignment capabilities. This research demonstrates the system's effectiveness in multi-robot coordination, task allocation, and adaptability to dynamic environments, contributing significantly to the field of robotics.

To assess the availability of different data center configurations, understand the main root causes of data center failures and represent its low-level details, such as subsystem's behavior and their interconnections, we have proposed, in previous works, a set of stochastic models to represent different data center architectures (considering three subsystems: power, cooling, and IT) based on the TIA-942 standard. In this paper, we propose the Data Center Availability (DCAV), a web-based software system to allow data center operators to evaluate the availability of their data center infrastructure through a friendly interface, without need of understanding the technical details of the stochastic models. DCAV offers an easy step-by-step interface to create and configure a data center model. The main goal of the DCAV system is to abstract low-level details and modeling complexities, becoming the data center availability analysis a simple and less time-consuming task.

We describe a competition-based group project that has been in use in the Algorithms course at our institution each semester since 2012. The class is given an NP-hard optimization problem;each student group is asked to create a heuristic algorithm for the problem. The heuristic is run on a set of inputs (with each group supplying one input) and groups are ranked based on their aggregate performance within a specified time period. This paper describes our experience with this approach, including challenges, and our recent efforts to address these through a web application used to facilitate the competition.

This paper presents the implementation of Arduino weather station that was designed so that people can monitor real time weather data using this weather station. The weather has a vital role in people's mental and physical health. People tend to catch severe diseases when they face difficulties to match up with the weather they are surrounded with. For this, we always need to get updated with the current weather states. And weather station, in this case, made our lives way easier in getting weather readings easily. We can easily get to know about the weather components like temperature, pressure, humidity and wind speed etc. from a weather station. App based weather stations are quite popular nowadays but, they cannot provide real-time values. And for all these reasons, we wanted to come up with this portable Arduino weather station which is able to measure the real values of temperature, humidity, pressure and wind speed. The model contains sensors which are able to give very precise data as were used as the device has to deal with the real and changing values. The main focus was to keep the weather station simple, cheap and user-friendly. So, the wind speed sensor (anemometer) was custom made. And finally, the weather station worked successfully and flawless.

Ultrasounds plays a major role in Non-Destructive tests. An important application is the monitoring of the hardening process in cement-based materials. It was recently proven that ultrasound echoes reflected from the interface between a transmitting medium and the cement paste carry information about the status of the chemical process responsible of the cement hardening. In application like e.g. the monitoring of bridges or tunnels during construction, these sensors should be deployed in remote sites where they should work autonomously for days. Unfortunately, no electronics is currently available which satisfies the requirements for an industrial use. In this paper a completely configurable, embedded ultrasound system, capable of managing up to 8 ultrasound transducers, is presented. The proposed "smart" sensor can be remotely controlled through a web-based user-friendly interface, is portable, and can be programmed to perform a series of tests scheduled along days or months. An example of cement hydration process monitoring is presented to show the performances and versatility of the proposed system.

In order to make use of the performance advantages offered by modern graphics processing units (GPUs), certain image-processing methods are used on GPU platforms. This study presents a web-based interface, named cuDO-Lab, whose capabilities include morphological operations. Different from other similar studies, using this interface, experimental studies can be done on both CPU and GPU platforms. NVIDIA1 (R) s Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA (R)) platform was employed to perform GPU operations. Thanks to cuDO-Lab, students can perform basic morphological operations without paying for licenses or requiring hardware such as CUDA (R) enabled GPU and software or driver installations. The cuDO-Lab also offers a responsive web-user interface, so the laboratory can be accessed from many devices, such as phones, tablets, laptops, and personal computers, with any screen resolution. This offers time savings, ease of use, and access from anywhere. (C) 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

This paper presents an automated system for progress monitoring of key repetitive construction activities in linear infrastructure projects. The prototype model utilizes several feature recognition techniques to automatically measure the actual progress of different locations in the project using high resolution satellite remote sensing images. A spatiotemporal database integrated with a baseline schedule automatically provides the location-based progress data. The system uses location-based charts and a progress map to generate and display the progress reports on a web-based open source interface. The prototype model was applied to an elevated railway project The main benefits of the proposed system include the automated measurement, enhanced visualization and documentation of planned/actual progress in large linear projects. The system can enhance the process of communication on deviations and construction efficiency between project decision makers through a web-based monitoring interface. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. A decision support method is developed to capture the classification patterns from the doctor, to establish a new global classification schema, and to classify the new patient cases into facet categories. The proposed system provides valuable recommendations to healthcare providers, and helps them gain more transparent information from patients so as to make better scheduling decisions that minimize the gap between patient demand and the provided services.
