Aiming at the problem that it is difficult to select the appropriate number of decompositions K and penalty factor α for the denoising of plastic pipe leakage signal by variational modal decomposition (VMD) algorithm. In this paper, a noise reduction method based on whale optimization algorithm (WOA) combined with VMD algorithm was proposed. First, the permutation entropy can reflect the complexity of the one-dimensional time series, and the decomposition result with the smallest permutation entropy is taken as the optimization objective; then the permutation entropy is used as a fitness function combined with WOA to optimize the parameters of the VMD algorithm to realize the adaptive decomposition of the leakage signal; Finally, calculate the correlation coefficient of each intrinsic mode function (IMF) component after decomposition to judge its noise level, remove the high frequency component which contains much noise, so as to realize the noise reduction of pipeline leakage signal. The simulate experimental results show that the method has a good denoising effect on the leakage signal of plastic pipeline, and can effectively improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the leakage signal, which proves its feasibility in the actual leakage detection of plastic pipeline.

The whale optimization algorithm (WOA) is one of the more classic optimization algorithms, which derived from the hunting actions of whale. While WOA is well suited to exploitation, this also leads to a low level of exploration capability, making it difficult to break out of the local optimum. In this study, by incorporating the optimal differential vector in an effective whale optimizer, we propose a differential perturbation operation to break out of the local optimum namely differential vector whale optimization algorithm (DVWOA). According to experimental results based on IEEE CEC2017 benchmark functions, DVWOA is beneficial in the aspects of global search, convergence speed, and population diversity.

Integrating renewable energy sources (RES) in the maritime industry is an efficient technique to decrease the pollution of water resources. This paper evaluates the functioning of the shipboard microgrid under varied operating situations. A microgrid comprising a solar photovoltaic array (SPV), battery, service loads, and propulsion motors is built and tested in the MATLAB-Simulink platform. The inclusion of propulsion motors and RES with power-electronic converter interfaces, leads to severe power quality concerns. Thus, an arctangent logarithmic hyperbolic cosine adaptive filter (ATLHCAF) is applied in the first voltage source converter (VSC) to enhance the system’s power quality. A dual modified novel generalized integrator-phase locked loop (DMNGI-PLL) is utilized for rapid and precise synchronization when the ship is at the port. A battery energy device (BES) is used in the ship owing to the intermittent nature of the SPV array. whale optimization Algorithm (WOA) is applied for tuning the PI (Proportional Integer) controller to ensure the DC bus stability. Due to the complexity of numerous power source coordination and varying propulsion loads, a power management system (PMS) is crucial in planning and operating procedures.

Internet of Things (IoT) is widely involved in environmental monitoring. IoT network has a limited energy supply which impacts the network’s lifetime. At present, limited energy is a challenging factor due to limited energy availability. IoT performance is improved with the RPL routing protocol for effective route establishment. With an effective energy harvesting scheme IoT network, residual energy can be improved. Typically, energy harvesting with conventional RPL routing protocol is ineffective. To withstand the limitation associated with energy harvesting in IoT networks with the incorporation of RPL routing is essential. To achieve this, this paper presented an Energy Harvesting Ranked whale optimization (EHRWO) is developed. Initially, the proposed model utilizes the optimal route establishment with EHRWO with improved security. The operation of EHRWO is performed for static and dynamic operation of the network. The developed work estimates the node energy, harvest energy, routing performance, and distance. Based on the optimization of the whale optimal path is estimated for the transmission of data. With a ranking based approach optimal path for data transmission will be computed. The simulation results expressed the proposed work performance of the parameters such as energy consumption and packet delivery ratio.

Accurate wind speed prediction can effectively improve the power generation of wind turbines and realize the efficient use of wind energy. However, a large number of wind turbines exist in a wind farm, and complex temporal and spatial dependencies exist among the wind speeds of wind turbines, leading to difficulties in improving the accuracy of wind speed prediction. Therefore, this paper proposed a correlation analysis method by combining the whale optimization algorithm and hybrid copula function and constructed a wind speed prediction model based on spatiotemporal analysis. Mixing multiple single-copula functions and using a whale optimization algorithm for parameter solving can improve the level of correlation analysis and lay the foundation for obtaining accurate wind speed predictions. Taking the actual operation data of wind turbines in a certain area of My country as an example, the single copula prediction results are compared with the mixed copula prediction results. Experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively analyze the wind speed correlation of wind turbines and improve the accuracy of wind speed prediction.

The swift upsurge of mobile data traffic and Internet of Things (IoT) applications have placed enormous spectrum demands on future 5G mobile communication networks. To encounter this trend, Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) technique has emerged as one of the leading technology for 5G because of its massive spectral efficiency and user connections. In this article, first, we design a Power Allocation (PA) optimization problem without compromising each user's Quality of Service (QoS) constraints to enrich the energy efficiency of the uplink NOMA system. Then, the whale optimization Algorithm (WOA) is proposed to tackle the formulated problem. Ultimately, the simulation findings corroborate that the propounded WOA-based power allocation design provides better energy efficiency than preceding state-of-art PA techniques.

Accurate power load forecasting can significantly improve the economic benefits of power systems. To improve the prediction accuracy, aiming at the complexity and volatility of power load, a forecasting model based on improved whale optimization algorithm (IWOA) optimized the bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) combined with attention mechanism (IWOA-Attention- BiLSTM) is proposed. The model comprehensively considers the influence of meteorological factors and date types, learns the bidirectional series features of power load data by BiLSTM, calculates the weights of the hidden layer state by the attention mechanism, and finds the hyperparameters of Attention-BiLSTM by IWOA, such as the learning rate, iteration times and batch size. The results show that compared with BP, LSTM and Seq2Seq, IWOA-Attention-BiLSTM has the highest prediction accuracy, and its MAPE, RMSE, MAE and R2 are 1.44 %, 128.83MW, 97.83MW and 0.9931 respectively, which are the best among all the prediction models. It is proved that IWOA-Attention- BiLSTM can effectively improve the prediction accuracy of short-term power load.

Although computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) is employed in a number of medical specialties, including colonography and mammography, wherein noninvasive screening procedures are carried out solely with the naked eye and there is a possibility of preventable inaccuracy, it is not utilised in dermatological observations. This paper presents a novel way to successively combine precise segmentation and classification models, demonstrating that CAD may also be a feasible choice in dermatology. We dissect a photograph of the skin in order to locate high-level characteristics and normalise the image. We first construct a segmented map of the image using a neural network-based segmentation model, after which we group the areas of aberrant skin and feed this data to a classification model. Using a separate neural network model, we categorise each cluster into various prevalent skin conditions. In comparison to other experiments, our segmentation model performs better and also gets a nearly perfect sensitivity score under challenging circumstances. Our classification model can classify numerous diseases in a single image and is more accurate than a baseline model trained without segmentation. The discipline of dermatology may be able to use CAD due to this increasing efficiency.

This paper presents a novel two-stage optimization approach for the optimal sizing of static var compensators and their operational management to maximize the photovoltaic integration capacity of distribution systems. In the first stage, the optimal locations for fixed size photovoltaic (PV) systems are determined to minimize the sum of total voltage violations. In the second phase, the size of the PV units are resized and the optimal size, number, location, and operating strategy of the SVC units are determined to maximize PV hosting capacity. In both phases, the Marine Predators algorithm is used for the solution optimization equations. The performance of the proposed approach and solution method is validated on modified 33-node and 141-node radial distribution networks. The results are discussed from the point of view of the maximum hosting capacity and compared with the Grey Wolf optimization and whale optimization algorithms in terms of computational performance.

Accurately predicting the day-ahead market marginal electricity price is vital to both sides of the electricity market transaction. However, with a large proportion of new energy sources connected to the grid, new energy generation’s stochastic and volatile nature has become more pronounced, resulting in substantial fluctuations in the day-ahead marginal electricity price. To solidify the guiding role of the day-ahead marginal electricity price on the quotation of the electricity trading market and to solve the problem of difficult parameter selection and high randomness of the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network, a day-ahead market marginal electricity price prediction model based on the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) to optimize the network parameters is proposed. The model is applied to the New-England day-ahead market, and the results show that the model is effective in improving the accuracy of day-ahead price forecasting compared to traditional forecasting models.
