In this paper, we analyze the aggregate TCP throughput performance of a wireless link utilizing Active Queue Management (AQM) and an adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) scheme with Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) based on the probability of failure in the first transmission attempt. We assume packets arriving out-of-order at the wireless receiver due to random retransmissions are resequenced before being released to the network. For this reason, an approximate model for the delay experienced at the resequencing buffer is also presented. In the light of the results obtained from the presented analysis, we propose a threshold for the aforementioned probability of failure making the investigated AMC scheme work at an overall performance close to that of the optimum policy.

In this paper, we carry out a comprehensive analysis of the b/s/Hz bandwidth efficiency, the b/s/Hz/m(2) area spectral efficiency, the b/TENU power efficiency, the b/s/Hz/W power efficiency, and the (b.m)/s/Hz/W green efficiency of a wireless link. After comparing the performance of the green efficiency with the other efficiencies, we present an adaptive modulation and coding scheme to approach the maximum green efficiency, which provides an effective way to Green Communications.

In this paper, the problem of constellation and rate selection in adaptive modulation and coding according to the channel condition is considered. A new selecting rule based on the finite blocklength analysis of channel capacity is proposed. When applied to the LTE system, the proposed selecting rule reveals interesting, new combinations of constellation and rate which yield significantly better performance in comparison with corresponding combinations suggested in the LTE system.

As in-line interference between geostationary(GEO) and Non-Geostationaiy(NGEO) systems is becoming more and more serious. We propose an efficient utilisation of the adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) scheme for spectral coexistence of GEO and NGEO satellites to mitigate in-line interference. Video multicast exploits the wireless broadcast nature to transmit a video stream to multiple clients with a minimum bandwidth requirement. Scalable video coding (AMC) and adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) are two key techniques for video multicast in broadband wireless networks. They improve the system utility value by dividing the video steam into different layers and assigning appropriate modulation and coding schemes (MCS) to each layer. With the development of mobile communication, all kinds of multiple access interference technology have been studied profound which make the multi-base station cooperative transmission possible. This paper presents a joint Slot-allocation and MCS-selection scheme in multi-base station system model. We first formulate the problem as maximizing the total system utility, where the utility of each user is a generic non-negative, non-decreasing function of received rate, which can be proven to be a NP-hard optimization problem. Then an intra-session MCS assignment method based on greedy algorithm is proposed, which can be also applied to muti-session scenarios. Simulation results show that our algorithm keeps good performance compared with the optimal result, and outperforms other competing schemes of single-base station system.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of MC-CDMA with bi-orthogonal keying employing Generalized Symbol-rate-increased (GSRI) Pragmatic adaptive Trellis Coded modulation (ATCM). It is advantageous that the GSRI TC-MPSK can arbitrarily set the bandwidth expansion ratio (coding rate) and higher coding gain than the conventional pragmatic TCM scheme can be obtained. By changing the modulation scheme and the bandwidth expansion ratio, this scheme can optimize the performance according to the channel conditions. The performance evaluations by simulations on an AWGN channel and multi-path fading channels are presented. It is shown that the proposed scheme has remarkable throughput performance than that of the conventional scheme.

The idea is to adapt the transmission to-the-fast changing channel conditions by the use of different modulation and coding schemes (MCS). In this paper, an algorithm is presented for the AMC technique in the HSDPA concept with multicode transmission, and the mathematical analysis of this algorithm is given: Furthermore, a scheduling algorithm is introduced-in which the terminal in a queue with the best expected carrier-to-interference ratio (C/I) is selected for the transmission interval. Such maximum C/I scheduling with the AMC and multicode transmission is anticipated to increase the throughput. In this paper, the numerical results of the analysis are compared to the respective results obtained by the simulations.

The main benefit brought by the 60 GHz technology is the high data rates, but it opposes some problems such as inter-symbol interference (ISI), path-loss, and time variant link. To improve the link budget, adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) techniques are utilized. The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of AMC on the High Speed Interface Physical layer (HSI PHY) mode of the IEEE 802.15.3c standard. For this we have created a Simulink model representing the schema of the IEEE 802.15.3c transceiver with an algorithm which allows adaptation in terms of modulation and coding of the transmitter whatever channel. And for testing, we used a 60 GHz channel model based on a lot of measured data and statistical analysis named Triple-S and Valenzuela (TSV) model, in both Line-Of Sight (LOS) and Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) scenarios, added to an optical fiber link of fixed length.
