Parameter Optimisation of Stress-strain Constitutive Equations Using Genetic algorithms

The accuracy of numerical simulations and many other material design calculations, such as the rolling force, rollingtorque, etc., depends on the description of stress-strain relationship of the deformed materials. One common methodof describing the stress-strain relationship is using constitutive equations, with the unknown parameters fitted byexperimental data obtained via plane strain compression (PSC). Due to the highly nonlinear behaviour of the constitutive equations and the noise included in the PSC data, determination of the model parameters is difficult. Inthis paper, genetic algorithms were exploited to optimise parameters for the constitutive equations based on thePSC data. The original PSC data were processed to generate the stress-strain data, and data pre-processing wascarried out to remove the noise contained in the original PSC data. Several genetic optimisation schemes have beeninvestigated, with different coding schemes and different genetic operators for selection, crossover and *** was found that the real value coded genetic algorithms converged much faster and were more efficient for theparameter optimisation problem.

Application of Chaos in Genetic algorithms

Through replacing Gaussian mutation operator in real-coded genetic algorithm with a chaotic mapping, wepresent a genetic algorithm with chaotic mutation. To examine this new algorithm, we applied our algorithm to functionoptimization problems and obtained good results. Furthermore the orbital points' distribution of chaotic mapping andthe effects of chaotic mutation with different parameters were studied in order to make the chaotic mutation mechanismbe utilized efficiently.

A new approximate proximal point algorithm for maximal monotone operator

The problem concerned in this paper is the set-valued equation 0 ∈ T(z) where T is a maximal monotone operator. For given xk and βk >: 0, some existing approximate proximal point algorithms take $x^{k + 1} = \tilde x^k $ such that $$x^k + e^k \in \tilde x^k + \beta _k T(\tilde x^k ) and \left\| {e^k } \right\| \leqslant \eta _k \left\| {x^k - \tilde x^k } \right\|,$$ where ?k is a non-negative summable sequence. Instead of $x^{k + 1} = \tilde x^k $ , the new iterate of the proposing method is given by $$x^{k + 1} = P_\Omega [\tilde x^k - e^k ],$$ where Ω is the domain of T and PΩ(·) denotes the projection on Ω. The convergence is proved under a significantly relaxed restriction supK>0 ηKη1.

Broadband matched-field inversion for shallow water environment parameters

In this paper, broadband multi-frequencies matched-field inversion method is used to determine the environmental parameters in shallow water. According to different conditions, several broadband objective functions are presented. Using ASIAEX2001 experiment data and genetic algorithms, environmental parameters are obtained, especially in sediment.

Capability Analysis of Chaotic Mutation and Its Self-Adaption

Through studying several kinds of chaotic mappings' distributions of orbital points, we analyze the capabilityof the chaotic mutations based on these mappings. Nunerical experiments support our conclusions very well. Thecapability analysis also led to a self-adaptive mechanism of chaotic mutation. The introducing of the self-adaptivechaotic mutation can improve the performance of genetic algorithm very prominently.

A PREDICTOR-CORRECTOR INTERIOR-POINT ALGORITHM FOR CONVEX QUADRATIC PROGRAMMING

The simplified Newton method, at the expense of fast convergence, reduces the work required by Newton method by reusing the initial Jacobian matrix. The composite Newton method attempts to balance the trade-off between expense and fast convergence by composing one Newton step with one simplified Newton step. Recently, Mehrotra suggested a predictor-corrector variant of primal-dual interior point method for linear programming. It is currently the interiorpoint method of the choice for linear programming. In this work we propose a predictor-corrector interior-point algorithm for convex quadratic programming. It is proved that the algorithm is equivalent to a level-1 perturbed composite Newton method. Computations in the algorithm do not require that the initial primal and dual points be feasible. Numerical experiments are made.
