As an essential means of evaluating antennaarray performance and the basis of antennaarray design, numerical computation of antenna array pattern is very important. Computation of antenna array pattern by using straightforward summation is very time consuming especially for planar array with many elements. Moreover, in some applications such as antennaarray synthesis, huge number of repeated pattern computations is needed that the consumed time is intolerably long. Although the computation can be accelerated by fast Fourier transform (FFT) when the elements are equally spaced by half of a wavelength because the array factor and the element excitation currents is a Fourier transform pair, in general, FFT is not applicable. In this paper, the chirp z-transform (CZT) is introduced to accurately and efficiently compute pattern of general linear or planar antennaarrays. Numerical examples confirm that CZT is flexible, efficient, and accurate.

This study explores the system intelligent control algorithm for antenna array pattern. On the basis of the characteristics of the system, the kinetic equations for front steering module to enable normal steering are established. Considering the influencing factors, such as uncertain parameters, unmodeled dynamics, and front wheel aligning torque, a fractional-order intelligent controller based on genetic algorithm (GA) optimization is designed to obtain robustness in required frequency domain for the system. The effects of integral, differential, and fitting orders on the intelligent controlling system are also revealed. The five parameters of fractional-order intelligent controller are determined by GA optimization, and the final intelligent controlling system is simulated. Results show the effectiveness of the improved intelligent controller in enhancing the performance of system robustness.

A computer-aided design technique for synthesising an antenna array pattern with an adjustable mainlobe width and minimum average sidelobe level is presented. The approach is based on a constrained optimisation problem designed to match the array response to a desired response over a mainlobe width while minimising the mean-square value of the array response over the sidelobe regions. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the performance achievable.
