The diversity of platforms on the smart phones market, make the mobile applications development quite difficult and very expensive. Platform development could be a good solution for this problem. We'll start by defining cross-platform development, and define the different types of mobile applications, and then define and explain the different approaches used in cross-platform development in order to achieve a comparison between these approaches allowing us to identify the strong points, and weaknesses of each approach. We present our results in a comparative table taking into consideration several criteria. These benchmarks have shown that the choice of a cross-platform development approach depends mainly on two things: to know what type of mobile application should be directed, and or targeted platforms. And adding the fact that multiplatform tools based on these approaches are limited in some point (access to different API platforms, performance compared to native applications ...), this work shows with certainty that more research is needed to go further than the current approaches.

Aperture is an open, adaptable and extensible Web 2.0 visualization framework, designed to produce visualizations for analysts and decision makers in any common web browser. Aperture utilizes a novel layer based approach to visualization assembly, and a data mapping API that simplifies the process of adaptable transformation of data and analytic results into visual forms and properties. This common visual layer and data mapping API, combined with core elements such as contextually derivable color palettes, layout and symbol ontology services is designed to enable highly creative and expressive visual analytics, rapidly and with less effort. This paper introduces the Aperture framework, describing key features of the programming API and reference implementation, presents example use cases, and proposes an approach for measuring technical performance metrics for software development, and operational performance metrics for visualization support of analysis and decision making.

Wildland fire simulation is a useful tool for studying wildland fires and for developing new technologies to help wildland fire management. This paper presents an effort of developing wildland fire simulation as a service that is accessible to broader users. The developed simulation service supports fire spread simulation, fire suppression simulation, and prescribed fire simulation with dynamic ignitions, and is accessible through a graphic user interface and an application programming interface (API). We present the underlying DEVS-FIRE simulation model, the design of the cloud-based wildland fire simulation service, and some preliminary results.

APIs have become increasingly popular among companies and developers. They are incredibly useful but can be exploited by hackers if proper security measures are not in place. This paper will discuss what APIs are and why companies use them, the different types of APIs, API architecture and protocols, the top cybersecurity threats that companies may encounter when using APIs, and the concepts of authentication and authorization. APIs are sets of rules and definitions that allow different software applications to communicate with each other. Companies use APIs to integrate their services with other applications, enabling interoperability, enhancing functionality, and providing better user experiences. There are various types of APIs, including open APIs, partner APIs, internal APIs, and composite APIs. Each type serves a different purpose and is used in different contexts. Understanding the architecture and protocols of APIs, such as REST, SOAP, and GraphQL, is crucial for developing robust and efficient APIs. However, the use of APIs also introduces several security risks. Companies may face threats such as data breaches, unauthorized access, and API injection attacks. Implementing strong authentication and authorization mechanisms is essential to safeguard APIs from these threats and ensure secure communication between applications. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of APIs, literature review, highlighting APIs importance, usage, and the necessary security practices to protect them from potential vulnerabilities.

The Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF) within the 5G core is not an inherent feature of open-source 5G cores, making its implementation necessary based on provider demands. However, for those seeking to integrate NWDAF into the core but lacking expertise in core architecture or application programming interface (API) integration, this task can be daunting, potentially resulting in the abandonment of data analytics implementation efforts. While the current version of NWDAF specifies certain use cases, it does not provide alternatives for developing new analytics scenarios. To fill this gap, this paper proposes a framework for 5G network data analytics designed to facilitate algorithmic modifications and the addition of new analytical contexts. The framework was developed considering the 3GPP technical specifications related to data analytics. Its evaluation was performed through a use case focused on cybersecurity anomaly detection applied to a 5G network core. The results demonstrated that the framework simplifies installation, increases flexibility for new algorithms, and integrates seamlessly into the 5G network core, effectively addressing previously identified shortcomings.

Language barriers frequently stand in the way of successful communication in a society where languages are widely spoken. Moreover, the limited availability of educational resources on Indian history and culture hinders learning and cross-cultural exchange. The CulturalEcho AR Translator employs augmented reality (AR) technology to facilitate real-time translation of text written in Indian languages when viewed through a device’s camera. The system utilizes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to identify the text in Indian languages and translates it into English. Users can quickly comprehend and interact with the content in English. Additionally, the application features a comprehensive content management system that includes a diverse collection of multimedia, historical, and cultural articles and images about India. The AR interface enables users to explore this educational archive, fostering interactive learning experiences enriched with cultural insights. The inclusion of a chatbot further enhances the experience by providing assistance and information, addressing user questions related to translations and cultural topics. The system employs authentication methods, including verified language databases sourced from reputable language authorities and government entities, to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of translations. Additionally, it offers virtual tours of popular tourist attractions and historical landmarks to enhance the customer experience. With interactive 3D models and panoramas, users can explore historical sites and learn about their significance, deepening their understanding of Indian heritage and culture.

Mobile application development is gaining increasing attention due to the rapid growth of the mobile technologies and mobile application market. Many universities are putting effort on integrating mobile application development into curriculum. The complexity and consistent changing in mobile development environment brings barriers and difficulties in course development. This paper describes how to enhance teaching effectiveness and engage students actively in mobile application development class through structured practice. The proposed structured practice features two levels of hands-on practice: first, prepare students with foundational knowledge and skills by having them follow the instructor on developing base applications; second, the philosophy of challenge-based learning is adopted in practice, where students are encouraged to independently work on developing implementations for applications with gradually increased complexity. Student feedbacks and performance have indicated the structured practice is an effective way of teaching mobile development which not only enhances the teaching effectiveness but also provides students a positive learning experience. Details of course design and project samples are provided to assist audiences in understanding the usage of structured practice and help with the developing of mobile application development courses.

A unique type of Web service, called a social network service (SNS), first appeared in 2003. Some researches suggested a method to extract meaningful information from SNSs. Such meaningful information helps computers to understand human interests, concerns, and perceptions. We consider that socially aware computing has the potential to lead a new type of metric such human oriented information to access control, searches, and suggestions for contents. Accordingly, in this paper we propose the access application programmable interface (API) to find human-oriented information from outside a given SNS. We use the result of experiments on the API to demonstrate a network comprising relationships among communities. The results reveal that our proposed method can support developers in creating socially aware applications with SNSs

Multiview autostereoscopic systems display three-dimensional (3D) images interleaved from parallax images to provide adequate viewing zones for viewers. A 3D image synthesizing method based on parallel processing with Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) is proposed to accelerate the image synthesizing for real-time autostereoscopic displays. The GPU-based 3D image synthesizing method is implemented with Direct3D application programming Interface (API) library. Compared with traditional methods using Central Processing Unit (CPU), the proposed method takes advantage of GPU graphic processing. The experiments prove that GPU-based 3D image synthesizing method can meet the requirement of real-time 3D image synthesizing and perform well in stereoscopic sense.
