Malicious activities or policy violations have been a concern for the past years. For example, many people have been victims of robbery on vehicles. A conceptual diagram of an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) [1] [2] for vehicles with remote signaling using an arduino controller and radio-frequency technology is proposed in this paper. To address malicious activities on vehicles, two aspects are considered here, namely: notifier and detector. Firstly, an object-oriented C module that puts on and off a controller (installed inside the vehicle) and an anti-theft electronic editing that powered using an alternator and supported by a back-up battery are implemented. Secondly, a magnetic intrusion sensor, controlled by a proximity detector using radio-frequency technology, has been installed on each vehicle door. To enable IDS, a user needs to activate the monitoring system when leaving their vehicle. This is done using a remote system. In case the user does not activate the monitoring system while leaving the vehicle, a 5-meter-proximity detector will automatically lock the system and set off the monitoring system whenever the user is outside the detection zone. The detection zone is a 5-meter radius area centered at the controller. Here, monitoring consists of geolocating any intruders within the detection zone. This means, if any of the vehicle doors is opened while the system is still locked, the controller will activate the vehicle alarm for a few seconds, thereafter send an SMS notification to the owner. The system automatically unlocks as soon as the proximity detector is within the detection zone. The contribution of this paper, as compared to other similar work, is to reinforce the electronic implementation of IDS.

Sit-to-stand is a common activity in daily life. It is difficult for the elderly and patients with lower limb disorders to complete this motion due to limb pain, muscle weakness, partial loss of motor control function, and physical defects in joints. An STS assistive device is a piece of automated medical equipment that can facilitate rehabilitation training for patients with lower limb disorders and improve their lower limb function. In this paper, we introduce a 3-DOF series type STS assistive device. First, we selected 26 healthy adults to carry out an STS transfer experiment, and we obtained the trajectory and velocity of each joint and the law of plantar pressure during STS motion. Second, based on the above kinematics and dynamics law, a 3-DOF series mechanism was designed. Through forward and inverse kinematics analysis, the relationship between the end-effector and the linear actuator was established. The trajectory planning of the end-effector was carried out according to the natural STS transfer trajectory, and the law of the linear actuator was obtained. The trajectory planning was verified by ADAMS. Finally, the arduino controller was used to build the control system of the STS assistive device, and the prototype experiment was carried out.

Recently, the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) plays a prominent role in many applications for efficiently monitoring the performance of the system. As the conventional power grid faces multiple issues in the process of power transmission, a smart grid based Internet of Things (IoT), which uses integrated electrical and communication infrastructure is employed in this study. The micro grid using Renewable Energy (RE) resources like wind and solar power is preferred in this work. The major objective of this study is to have perfect monitoring and control of the overall power grid using WSN. By connecting a smart micro grid with IoT, the issue of voltage violation and grid instability caused by power insufficiency is resolved. The IoT-based network integrates grid with the distributed source through WSN, which senses the data and forwards the gathered data to the cloud while taking a backup for future monitoring. Before forwarding, the data is highly encrypted using a hybrid approach known as Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Rivest Cipher 4 (RC4).The hybrid encryption generates improved ratio of transaction success with respect to malicious ratio indicating the secured data transmission preventing the intrusion of hackers. Simultaneously, the secured data is transmitted at high speed by making use of Pulse Coupled Neural Network (PCNN) along with Remora Optimization algorithm. The inclusion of optimization for the effective selection of the hyperparameters of neural network ensures the generation of global optimal solution which in turn enables the efficient identification of shortest path. The hardware in this system uses arduino controller and the proposed approach aids in efficient monitoring of smart grid parameters facilitating uninterrupted power availability.

The demand for CNC machines in educational institutions and industries is rapidly increasing. This paper presents an affordable model of a CNC machine that can engrave the circuit's layout on copper plates. Our emphasis on designing this machine is to model a low cost and robust model of CNC machine for PCB prototyping. This CNC machine is a combination of electro-mechanical design and control circuitry. Because of its user-friendly design, it provides great ease in engraving operation. First, a layout is designed by using a standard PCB designing software. Then the finalized layout is converted into G-code. This code contains axis information which is translated by the firmware of the microcontroller. According to the axis information, the controller drives the mechanical assembly with the accuracy of micrometers. The result shows better performance on various circuits and proved to be a cost-effective tool for academia and industry.

Automated liquid filling system is a mechatronic system that has the ability to automatically fill number of container(s) with a liquid to a desired level. This paper presents design and development of an automatic filling system, with a robotic arm conveyor for small scale industries. The overall system is developed using robotic arm and arduino controller. The movement of the robotic arm is managed by gear motors. An IR proximity sensor has been used to sense the presence of the bottle. However, an ultrasonic sensor was used to sense the level of liquid in the bottle. The control of the system is achieved using an arduino micro-controller, arduino Mega 2560. The overall system was tested under various conditions and its working was found satisfactory. In future the IR proximity sensor can be replaced by a limit switch to eliminate errors associated with solid state devices and again a solenoid valve may be used instead of electric pump.

Future global climate change with higher mean temperatures and increased intensity and frequency of heatwaves as extreme weather events will affect aquatic ecosystems with, yet, unpredictable severity and consequences. Although models suggest increased risk of species extinction up to the year 2050 for series of different climate change scenarios, environmental complexity may result in unconsidered effects of future temperature alterations on ecosystems. Apart from these environmental changes, additional anthropogenic stressors, e.g. chemical release, may cause unprecedented interaction effects on ecosystems. Ongoing efforts to better understand such temperature-chemical interaction effects comprise almost exclusively experimental designs using constant temperature regimes instead of environmentally realistic daily temperature variations. In this paper we describe an arduino-based temperature and heatwave control device (TENTACLE) that is transportable, inexpensive, multifunctional, and easily reproducible. TENTACLE offers water temperature monitoring and manipulation of up to 3 different climate change-related scenarios: i) natural (ambient) sinusoidal fluctuations (laboratory applications), ii) elevated fluctuations, and iii) heatwaves as extreme events. The use of replaceable heating elements and lowcost materials suitable for field studies creates a high flexibility for researchers who may conduct in- or out-door, small- or large-scale, fresh- or salt-water experiments at different geographical locations. Robotic vehicles and their applications have gained widespread significance in recent times in order to automate every sphere of human activities. Besides, it invites a great deal of attention in environments where human presence or intervention becomes very difficult and in most cases not being possible. The paper therefore proposes a voice based movement and evolves a direction control scheme for a robotic vehicle in a Light Fidelity (LiFi) medium with a view to exploit its available enormous bandwidth. Choice of Li-Fi as a medium owes to its quick response time and ability to respond to voice based commands. It engages the role of an artificial neural network (ANN) for recognizing the syllables through Levenberg-Marquardt training algorithm. The scheme relies on two sets of instructions issued to the vehicle controlled by the arduino controller, which allows acting in accordance to the instruction recognized by the voice recognition module.
