This research was to study the design of a data logger with IEC standard for PV system using arduino microcontroller. The arduino microcontroller received a signal from analog sensor. The main processor board of the arduino microcontroller was evaluated and display to 20 4 characters (4 rows and 20 characters per row) on LCD monitor. Then, the data were recorded in a memory card. Furthermore, the data logger was tested with the pyranometer, fixed PV module and tracking PV module. Those of the values were compared with the data from a standard data logger (Wisco DL 2100) and calculated the values of percentage of an error. It was observed that the maximum values of the percentage of the error from the recorded data was 25.60. The minimum values of the percentage of the error from the recorded data was 0.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart hiving technology for providing beekeepers a remote facility to gather information related to bees inside the hive and use that information to regulate from remotely the environment of beehive in real time in order to enhance bees honey productivity. This is achieved using an arduino microcontroller, a global system for mobile communication (GSM) module, and a liquid crystal display (LCD). The smart hiving technology allows beekeepers to receive all information related to bees inside the hive at regular intervals and they are alerted through their mobile phones in case of emergency situations. Oyster mushroom is one type of mushroom that is commonly consumed by Indonesian people which is relatively easy to cultivate. It can produce the optimum fruit body at temperatures below 30 degrees C, the range of humidity is 60-90% with altitudes between 500-1000 meters above sea level. This paper describes on the development of the prototype of temperature and humidity control system in oyster mushroom cultivation using a fuzzy logic controller. The prototype comprises of DHT11 sensor for detecting temperature and humidity, arduino microcontroller, mistmaker, and cooling fan. Fuzzy logic controller is installed in the arduino microcontroller to generate an actuating signal for the mistmaker and cooling fan based on fuzzy inputs. The whole fuzzy system is designed using two inputs namely temperature and humidity with each input consist of three fuzzy sets with the triangular membership function. Meanwhile, the output variable is the speed of cooling fan with three fuzzy sets and triangular membership functions. A Mamdani inference system is adopted to achieve the control objective in the whole system. Based on the appropriate rule bases, fuzzy logic controllers are designed to produce the temperature and humidity setpoint around 27 degrees C and 60-90 % respectively. Experimental results show the time response to achieve the setpoint span from 1 minute 27 seconds until 8 minutes 10 seconds.

This article uses arduino microcontroller as the development and application platform, and builds an intelligent car with ATmega2560 chip as the control core, and can use Bluetooth technology to control the movement direction. The car has been tested to achieve real-time and accurate display of time, speed, mileage, steerable, automatic tracking and obstacle avoidance functions. The system is easy to implement, low in cost, flexible in applicability, and good in application and development.

This paper presents an improved teaching- learning-based optimization algorithm (ITLBO) for designing and implementing the maximum power point trackers (MPPT) incorporated with a photovoltaic (PV) module to extract the maximum power from the PV generating unit. The proposed algorithm is based on a population-based optimization algorithm to design a practical circuit of MPPT controller based on arduino microcontroller. A modification in the teaching-learning-based optimization algorithm is considered where the best learner is considered as a teacher in the learner phase. The ITLBO-MPPT is physically implemented with arduino Uno microcontroller which is presented as an open source. An experimental circuit comprising a PV module, a converter controlled via arduino which is programmed by the proposed algorithm, ITLBO, is implemented, and the results are tabulated via three days of different operating conditions. A significant improvement in the global maximum power point is obtained via the proposed approach compared with that obtained via PSO and TLBO.

Contact heat evoked potentials (CHEPs) are recorded from the brain by giving thermal stimulations through heating pads kept on the surface of the skin. CHEP signals have crucial diagnostic implications in human pain activation studies. This work proposes a novel design of a digital proportional integral (PI) controller based on arduino microcontroller with a view to explore the suitability of an electric heating pad for use as a thermode in a custom-made, cost-effective CHEP stimulator. The purpose of PI controller is to set, regulate, and deliver desired temperatures on the surface of the heating pad in a user-defined pattern. The transfer function of the heating system has been deduced using the parametric system identification method, and the design parameters of the controller have been identified using the root locus technique. The efficiency of the proposed PI controller in circumventing the well-known integrator windup problem (error in the integral term builds excessively, leading to large transients in the controller output) in tracking the reference input and the controller effort (CE) in rejecting output disturbances to maintain the set temperature of the heating pad have been found to be superior compared with the conventional PI controller and two of the existing anti-windup models.

Solar photovoltaic systems have evolved as a prominent renewable source of energy owing to its eco-friendly nature, long lifetime, and low maintenance requirement. However, its conversion efficiency is very low. Different maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques have been used to extract maximum power from the photovoltaic system. In this study, the perturb and observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm, which is practically implemented on an arduino Uno board and simulated in Matlab/Simulink under the same environmental conditions, is used to track the maximum power. Different parameters of a Simulink-based PV module and a practical photovoltaic module are obtained and compared. The main advantages of the P&O MPPT algorithm are its low cost and easy implementation. However, it may fail to track the maximum operating point under varying environmental conditions.

This paper presents the modelling, simulation and hardware implementation of the incremental conductance (INC) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The extraction of maximum power from the solar photovoltaic system was made by integrating the PV module with a DC-DC converter and utilising the MPPT algorithm. In this work, the INC MPPT algorithm is practically implemented on an arduino Uno board to track the maximum power point (MPP) and also simulated in Matlab/Simulink under the same environmental conditions. The performance of the INC algorithm was also compared with the conventional Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm. The experimental and simulation results are provided for both MPPT techniques. Matlab/Simulink was used for simulation studies.
