In recent years, many visions for hitherto considered-futuristic computing applications gained momentum. The vision of smart factories is one example for these trends, which all share a common requirement: the prolific dissemination of sensor information. As wireless communication in smart factories needs to cope with harsh environments, the amount of sensor information produced by sources will likely surpass the communication channel's available capacity. This discrepancy calls for efficient communication and filtering protocols, as well as compression mechanisms, as a foundation for dependable applications. We propose such a compression algorithm that is lossless and tailored towards the requirements of the manufacturing industry. Our algorithm employs a two-step stochastic model that uses lossy compression to extract an approximation from the signal and a separate noise model to accommodate the remaining error. Evaluation results validate that our algorithm achieves better compression rates than existing approaches for several types of real world sensor data from the industry.

The aim of this research is to investigate image compressing using SOFM 2D K-Map with vector quantization methods and arithmetic coding of lossless compression methods, SOFM and VQ are adopted technique to improve the image compression effective. However, this paper proposed and investigated SOFM based on VQ by components, the proposed new approach which provide pre-processing for subsampling into high-pass filter and low-pass filter, low pass-filter subsampling goes immediately to lossless compressing for entropy coding and as presented here is used arithmetic coding, and high-pass filter to vectorization image block then to vector quantization using SOFM. Nonlinear dynamic filter (NDF) has been used in chaos-based multimedia cryptosystem. However, our study shows that the key of randomized arithmetic coding (RAC) based on NDF can be successfully recovered under chosen plaintext attack. Moreover, current ciphertext block can't be decoded unless preceding plaintext is available. In order to enhance the security and feasibility used in multimedia applications, the algorithm is improved by building a new correlation between ciphertext and coefficients. Its security is enhanced that can effectively resist chosen plaintext attack. Its feasibility is also improved that can decode ciphertext block without availability of preceding plaintext with which a user can play multimedia data starting at any place. The analysis and simulations show that the improved algorithm can evidently enhance both security and feasibility

We show that Slepian's Variant I permutation codes implement first-order perfect steganography (i.e., histogram-preserving steganography). We give theoretical expressions for the embedding distortion, embedding rate and embedding efficiency of permutation codes in steganography, which demonstrate that these codes conform to prior analyses of the properties of capacity-achieving perfect stegosystems with a passive warden. We also propose a modification of adaptive arithmetic coding that near optimally implements permutation coding with a low complexity, confirming all our theoretical predictions. Finally we discuss how to control the embedding distortion. Permutation coding turns out to be akin to Sallee's model-based steganography, and to supersede both this method and LSB matching.

Efficient hardware implementation of this complex standard is a considerable challenge in order to embed the compression engine inside the imaging devices. MQ encoder is one of the main and important modules in the JPEG2000 encoder. This paper proposes a hardware model written in VHDL for this MQ encoder. Everyday incredible amount of data is produced and stored around the globe;it keeps growing. With technological advances, companies can manage and store the massive amount of data in-house or in the cloud. To avoid the storage bottleneck, they use various compression techniques. The compression ratio of modern compression technique is approaching a mathematical limit. We propose a novel lossless compression algorithm, which will redefine the new mathematical limit of lossless compression ratio. It can be used on top of existing data compression techniques to optimize the compression ratio. In this paper, we introduce a distributed Nth order binary encoding (DNOBE) method, which harnesses the smart cloud technology for encoding and data compression. This work is an improvement over Nth order binary encoding (NOBE) algorithm. DNOBE works in three stages, in the first stage it uses the hybrid method consists of probabilistic and deterministic approach for a sender side. Moreover, in the second stage on the server side (the high-performance server cluster in the cloud), it converts the given problem into a deterministic problem. In the final stage, the receiver decodes the compressed data.

Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) data compression consists of a two dimensional discrete wavelet transform of the image, followed by bit-plane coding of the transformed data. The algorithm can provide both lossless and lossy compression, and allows a user to directly control the compressed data volume or the fidelity with which the wavelet-transformed data can be reconstructed. The proposed algorithm yields better rate-distortion performance and has applications for near-earth and deep-space missions when compared to the standard recommendation. In the proposed method the Rice codes used in the CCSDS standard is replaced by subexponential coding which improves the rate-distortion performance and is robust against noise and outliers.
