The development of modern micro-processing technology has led to the design and production of sub-millimeter-sized coils. A novel type of micro-magnetic stimulation (mu MS) regulatory technology has widely been researched in recent years. This technology has several advantages, including small size, no contact between tissues and the metal coil, and high spatial resolution. Considering some problems with the mu MS control technology in practical applications, different kinds of mu MS devices have been developed, including an in vitro single-point mu MS device, an in vivo implantable single-point mu Ms device, a discrete-array mu MS device, and an in vivo implantable-array mu Ms device. Given the problems that currently exist in the design and implementation of this device, such as the key problems of structural design, implantation method, experimental safety, and reliability of the device, we review the development process in detail. We also discuss the precise targeting advantage of this device, which is likely to be of great significance for wide-ranging applications of magnetic stimulation technology.

A dense antenna array architecture is developed to ease the circuit requirements of the radio frequency (RF) front-end in beamforming applications. In the architecture, antennas are spaced more closely than would otherwise be required to exploit the available degrees of freedom. Such an array structure is analogous to temporally over-sampled data conversion systems, which have reduced quantizer resolution requirements. For a linear, uniformly-spaced array, we develop a spatial-domain version of (DELTA)(SIGMA) quantization, and show that with binary quantization for the in-phase and quadrature components of antenna weights, even relatively modest amounts of oversampling can reproduce beamforming patterns of interest to practically useful levels of accuracy.

A planar topology of multifunctional C-X band wide-scan array is analyzed, based on the class of the aperture-coupled stacked patches. Performance is aimed at achieving both wide-band and wide-scan capabilities. The theoretical and the technological aspects that affect correct design and effective realization of the array structure are addressed. In particular, possible improvements of the active reflection coefficient behaviour are analysed by suitably acting on the geometry of the elements.

At the nanometer scale, the focus of micro-architecture will move from processing to communication. Most general computer architectures to date have been based on a "stored program" paradigm that differentiates between memory and processing and relies on communication over busses and other (relatively) long distance mechanisms. Nanometer-scale electronics - nano-electronics - promises to fundamentally change the ground-rules. Processing will be cheap and plentiful, interconnection expensive but pervasive. This will tend to move computer architecture in the direction of locally-connected, reconfigurable hardware meshes that merge processing and memory. If the overheads associated with reconfigurability can be reduced or even eliminated, architectures based on non-volatile, reconfigurable, finegrained meshes with rich, local interconnect offer a better match to the expected characteristics of future nanoelectronic devices.

Up to now, as one of multi-context devices, an optically reconfigurable gate array (ORGA) has been developed to achieve high-speed reconfiguration. Since quick context switching allows implementation of many functions onto a gate array without idle time, fast reconfiguration is extremely important for multi-context devices. In ORGAs, the easiest way to increase the reconfiguration frequency is to use high-power lasers. However, such high-power lasers increase power consumption and package size. In the worst case, they might require a cooling system. For that reason, this paper proposes a negative logic implementation method by which optical configurations can be accelerated without ORGA architecture modification and any increase of laser power. This time, the method was demonstrated on a dynamic optically reconfigurable gate array architecture. Based on the experimental results, this paper clarifies the acceleration method's effectiveness.

This paper offers a computationally efficient strategy for the delicate analysis of frequency-diverse arrays. This family of radiating systems shows a radiation mechanism dependent on both angle and range thanks to the different frequency radiated by each array element: for this reason, it can simultaneously focus and steer its beam, thus providing a strategic capability for wireless power transfer applications. Despite the array architecture described in this paper is the standard one, it represents a cumbersome task from the circuit analysis point of view. The full-wave analysis combined with an effective exploitation of the Harmonic Balance technique allows, for the first time, the accurate estimation of the dynamic behavior of this promising radiating system.

This paper proposes a novel time-of-flight (ToF) sensor with high dynamic range and fine depth resolution for medium and long range 3D imaging applications. It focuses on low power consumption while maintaining human-eye safety requirements. A pixel array architecture is employed where each pixel consists of a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) as a photo-detector along with a dedicated time-to-digital converter (TDC) for fast image acquisition. The imager is designed to achieve millimeter-level depth resolution with maximum range up to 30 m operating at a maximum frame rate of 1000 fps. It targets security applications, primarily facial recognition, but is also suitable for automotive vision and robotics.

Crossed electrode arrays, wherein electrodes are connected in individually addressable rows and columns, have been previously investigated as a means to reduce the number of channels in two-dimensional ultrasound arrays for three-dimensional imaging. Previously envisioned imaging schemes have been limited in their resolution and focusing ability due to their inability to perform active focusing in both the lateral and elevational direction for both transmit and receive. As well, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be compromised when transmitting or receiving on only one row or column at a time. A new imaging method is proposed for this array architecture using capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUTs) which can provide two-way focusing in both lateral and elevational directions while providing optimal SNR. This method is a variation of synthetic aperture imaging wherein the columns active upon transmit and receive events are determined by applying a bias to specific columns upon transmission and reception in an S-sequence encoded pattern. Mathematical derivations of this method are presented and simulations are done to compare this imaging method to previously published crossed-electrode array imaging schemes, as well as to fully-populated 2-D phased array imaging.

Advances in Planar Ultra-wideband Modular Antenna (PUMA) array architecture which have culminated into a 6:1 bandwidth design without the use of an external backplane matching network are presented. This paper will examine the additional bandwidth-enhancing operational principles of the proposed dual-polarized 6:1 PUMA array. A design and its respective full-wave simulations will then be presented, with results yielding a 6:1 bandwidth with VSWR < 2 at broadside, VSWR < 2.6 scanning out to θ = 45°, and a diagonal plane cross-polarization greater than 15 dB at θ = 45° for the majority of the band.

Porous array with CoP nanoparticle modification derived from MOF grown on carbon cloth for effective alkaline hydrogen evolution

Metal organic framework (MOF) as a template strategy to get dispersed metal particle with high catalytic activity is widely used in the design of electrodes for hydrogen production. Herein, we report using carbon nanotube (CNT) as a multifunctional active binder that would promote the growth of MOF arrays on carbon fiber cloth (CFC) substrate and the release of hydrogen. By modified CFC with this new active binder: (1) the active material was more firmly anchored to the carbon fiber; (2) the overall electron transport efficiency was improved; and (3) the MOF precursor grew more uniformly on the carbon fiber, and greatly increased the number of active sites. Benefited from the CNT modification, the obtained porous array with CoP nanoparticle modification (CFC-CNT-CoO x /CoP) catalyst displayed superior alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance and excellent stability with an overpotential of 108 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm −2 and a small Tafel slope of 60 mV dec −1 . The excellent HER performance mainly derived from the structure optimization and enhanced electron transfer brought by the active binders. In addition, Co(OH) 2 appeared in the long-time HER process and the synergistic interaction of CoO x , CoP, Co(OH) 2 and CNT maintained the good stability.
